Chapter 39 Give Money

Fergus got out of the car and contacted Xavier to come pick him up.

Actually, he needed Xavier to find something to support and bless the cross.

Just as he hung up the phone, a Maserati stopped in front of him.

Jessica said sternly, "Get in the car!"

She had been following Fergus, waiting for Violet's car to leave before approaching.

Fergus was very annoyed and thought, 'Why is she everywhere?'

"No need, I have someone coming to pick me up," he said, not wanting to interact with her.

Jessica rolled her eyes. She had figured out his personality; he liked to act aloof and then secretly follow people. He was a great actor, and once exposed, he'd get angry out of embarrassment.

Otherwise, why would he leave the car? He must've noticed her following and got out to give her a chance, but was too embarrassed to admit it.

She couldn't be bothered to expose him!

She got out of the car and said, "I have a question for you. How did you know this land was unsuitable for development, with poisonous insects all over the place?"

Fergus wanted to leave but knew she wouldn't give up until she got what she wanted.

He replied indifferently, "I cursed the land to attract all the poisonous insects around."

Jessica laughed, "Don't fool around with me. Do you think I'm stupid? A curse? Why don't you just say you're a dark wizard?"

She didn't believe him at all. Fergus had been in prison before; did they teach curses in prison besides fighting?

'Impossible!' she thought.

Fergus said, "If you have no other questions, you can leave."

"I do!" Jessica blurted out, then cautiously asked, "Are you and Sophia over?"

Judging by Hayden's attitude toward him, there was definitely something wrong. Sophia was also ignoring him, too.

Fergus said, "We never started, so how could we end? We're just strangers."

Jessica probed further, "Was it because of me?"

Fergus turned to her in astonishment and thought, 'Where did she get her confidence?'

Seeing his expression, Jessica thought she had guessed right and said proudly, "I've seen through you long ago. You don't need to hide it."

"I used to think you were nothing, but after spending these past few days with you, you seem okay. We can be friends first, and later... Hey, where are you going?!"

Before she could finish, she saw him walking away quickly.

She hurriedly got back in the car and followed him, annoyed. "You're always being so shy like this. You need to be bolder when pursuing a girl!"

"And you have feelings for me, so why won't you admit it?"

Fergus's head buzzed, stopping and looking at her as he said, "I don't understand. How can you be so ordinary yet so confident!"

"Ordinary and confident?" She repeated.

Jessica's face changed; that was too harsh.

She retorted angrily, "You're the ordinary and confident one. You're just lucky to be chosen by Ms. Gray. Without her, what are you?"

He was exasperated. "Can you stay away from me?"

"No!"

She was also angry. "The road isn't your personal property. I can walk wherever I want!"

"Fergus, let me tell you, everyone listens to you now because of Ms. Gray. Without her, you're nothing."

"Like now, with you walking here, nobody will give you a ride!"

"Hmph!"

Just then, a Rolls-Royce stopped in front of the Maserati.

Xavier got out of the car and walked straight to the driver's seat of the Maserati, his face dark. "Who are you, and why are you following Mr. Yost?"

He had seen Jessica following from a distance, looking provocative.

Jessica was so scared when she saw Xavier that her heart almost stopped. It was her first time seeing a boss from Tarynville up close, and the pressure was overwhelming; it was like being stared at by death!

"Drive!"

Fergus quickly got into the car, not wanting to stay there any longer.

"Yes, Mr. Yost." Xavier's imposing manner disappeared, and he ran to the car without any hesitation.

Jessica watched the Rolls-Royce drive away.

It took her a full minute to recover.

She then gritted her teeth and said, "It's all because of Violet. The higher you climb up, the harder you'll fall in the future. When you have nothing left, you'll come to me!"

"I'll be waiting for that day, to see if you can still act high and mighty!"

As Xavier drove, he said, "Mr. Yost, if you bloom, the butterflies will come. Now that you're a celebrity in Tarynville, naturally, many women will throw themselves at you."

"If you find it troublesome, I can take care of her!"

Xavier thought Jessica was one of those women.

"Forget it."

Fergus shook his head. There was no need to deal with Jessica; he could just avoid her in the future. He asked, "Do you know where I can buy moss-in-snow jade, preferably unpolished, and at least of glassy quality?"

Violet was facing a lifetime of continuous hardships and challenges, so ordinary carving materials wouldn't work. To help her, he needed nature-grown jadeite.

That was why many people say jadeite can bring good luck.

But most jadeite are nurtured poorly and thus donn't work.

"Well..."

Xavier was a bit troubled. "You want unpolished raw jadeite with at least glassy quality? There hasn't been new glassy jadeite for years. It's too difficult."

Fergus thought about it and realized they didn't have X-ray vision.

They couldn't tell the difference.

"But," Xavier changed his tone, "there's a Gemstone Avenue in Tarynville. We can go and try our luck there. It's said that glassy jadeite was found there many years ago."

"If needed, I can have all the stones on the street wrapped up and opened one by one to see if we can find any."

Fergus said indifferently, "Let's go take a look."

Soon, they arrived at Gemstone Avenue.

It was several hundred meters long, with various stones displayed on both sides. Some were partially opened, some half-opened, and some looked just like ordinary stones.

The street was bustling, a paradise for jade gambling enthusiasts.

"Mr. Yost, should I have this place sealed off and all the stones wrapped up?" Xavier asked again.

"No need!"

Fergus closed his eyes to feel for a few seconds, then opened them and walked quickly forward, stopping in front of a sleazy stall owner.

"Sir, which stone do you want?"

The stall owner was delighted to see Fergus. From his appearance, he could tell Fergus had no experience and was just trying his luck. He didn't know the stones at all.

Moreover, the person next to him looked like a nouveau riche.

The stall owner thought, 'They're easily scammable.'

He quickly boasted, "To be honest, my stones are guaranteed to produce jade, and the quality is excellent. Do you know Imperial Green? Three years ago, I had Imperial Green here, sold it for three thousand dollars, and the buyer resold it for a million!"

"This batch of stones is from the same lot; they could also be Imperial Green!"

The surrounding vendors sneered. Only one thing he said was true; these stones were guaranteed to produce jade. This was because in a sense, stones were also jade.

As for being from the same lot, that was a lie. How could the same lot be sold for three years?

Fergus didn't respond but scanned the area. He saw a fist-sized black stone in a pile and said directly, "I want this one. How much?"

Everyone around was stunned and thought, 'Who directly says they want a stone? At least ask for the price first! This outsider deserves to be scammed.'

The stall owner almost laughed out loud. He was scamming a clueless fool.

With a straight face, he said, "Boss, you have a good eye. To be honest, I also like this one and was going to open it myself. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't sell it."

"If you want to buy it, the price is ten thousand dollars!"

Fergus nodded and instructed, "Pay him!"
