Chapter 109 Submission
Martial arts could be split into three main types.
First up, there was Hardcore Combat, where it was all about brute strength to crush your opponent.
Then, there was Flexible Combat, which relied on speed and agility to win.
Lastly, there was the Soft-Hard Combo, which focused power in one spot and used flexible moves to attack.
Each style had its own pros and cons.
Master Thunder? He was all about that Hardcore Combat!
The crowd couldn't believe their eyes.
"Is he seriously gonna counter Master Thunder's Body Check with his fist? Is he nuts?"
"Master Thunder's Hardcore Combat is legendary. They say he once snapped a 27-inch cedar tree in half with his Body Check!"
"He's asking for it, going head-to-head with Master Thunder!"
Master Thunder was grinning. This newbie was way out of his league. Even the fourth-ranked fighter in the Mountain State wouldn't dare to take him on like this. Only the top three would try. And Fergus is using his fist?
Then, a loud crack echoed through the arena, like two boulders smashing together.
Master Thunder didn't budge!
Fergus didn't budge either!
Everyone was in shock when a voice broke the silence.
The crowd went wild, eyes practically popping out of their heads.
"His arm's broken!"
"I knew it. Fergus bit off more than he could chew. What's he gonna do now?"
"But wait, it's Master Thunder's arm that's shaking!"
"No way!" Master Thunder stared at his shoulder in horror. That was the point of impact with Fergus. He tried to muster strength but couldn't.
Aria was stunned too. She knew Master Thunder's strength better than anyone. Even if a car going 40 miles per hour hit him, Master Thunder would be fine, and the car would be wrecked. How could he not match Fergus's punch?
"You're worse than those guys in prison," Fergus shook his head, a bit disappointed. Now he got why his mentor had said prison was the most dangerous place. Seemed true.
He continued, "Alright, let me show you what a real Body Check is!"
He stepped forward, his body shook violently, and his shoulder charged straight at Master Thunder's chest!
"Tiny Body Check? The ultimate form of Body Check?" Master Thunder recognized the move instantly. It was the highest level of Body Check. Suddenly, he was drenched in sweat.
He finally got why Master Dusk was defeated. The strength gap was just too big. In the Mountain State, only the top three could take on Fergus! He didn't have time to think and quickly stepped back, but it was too late.
Master Thunder got hit. It felt like a train had slammed into him, sending him flying 20 feet before crashing to the ground, sliding another 3 feet, kicking up dirt, and finally stopping.
Everyone in the arena was speechless.
Master Thunder was down!
Two of the Mountain State's top fighters couldn't handle Fergus!
Jennifer felt a rush of heat, her eyes misting over.
"I like to give others a taste of their own medicine, but I don't like killing people, so I'll just cripple your limbs!" Fergus said casually, walking forward slowly.
Seeing this, Master Thunder was terrified, almost forgetting to breathe.
He quickly pleaded, "Mr. Yost, I admit defeat, I surrender, please spare my limbs, I beg you!"
If his limbs were broken, his training would be set back at least twenty years, and he'd lose his Grand Master status.
"If I were in your shoes, would begging work?" Fergus kept walking, his voice calm.
Master Thunder was at a loss for words. He tried to get up, but as soon as he put in any effort, he coughed up blood and couldn't muster any strength. Desperately, he turned to Aria, shouting, "Save me!"
Aria fixed her gaze on Fergus. "Stop!"
She didn't just talk; she pulled out a black gun.
The muzzle was aimed right at Fergus!
Her voice was cold as ice. "I admit, I underestimated you, and you surprised everyone. But can you be faster than a bullet? All I have to do is pull this trigger, and you're done!"
Her tone was emotionless, especially chilling in the dark night. Her face, already cold, became even more unreadable.
"Aria is amazing!" Jace shouted, relieved. He had been scared out of his wits. Fergus had taken down two Grand Masters. What kind of monster was he? Jace thought they were doomed.
But Aria turned the tables.
He sneered, "Fergus, what era do you think this is? Still relying on fists? Now, kneel to Aria, and maybe she'll spare you!"
Colin chimed in, mocking, "Keep being cocky! Let's see if you're faster than a bullet!"
Everyone thought it was over. No one could be faster than a bullet.
"I don't hit women," Fergus said, "But those who threaten my life are an exception. So, what do you plan to do to me?"
Everyone was puzzled by his words.
Aria held the gun steady, her voice indifferent, "You have two options. Submit to me, and I'll guarantee you wealth and honor; refuse, and I'll kill you, eliminating future trouble!"
This was how Aria always handled things.
"Got it!" Fergus smiled and started walking towards Aria.
He walked towards the gun?
Aria frowned. "Aren't you afraid of death?"
For some reason, Fergus gave her an unprecedented sense of pressure, like a mountain. As he moved, the air around seemed to press down.
Fergus replied calmly, "Shoot!"
"One more step, and I'll kill you!" Aria emphasized.
"Shoot!" Fergus insisted, taking another step.
A gunshot echoed through the night.
Everyone shuddered in fear.
But then, they saw Fergus's figure flash, and he was already in front of Aria, unharmed!
"How is this possible?" Aria looked into his eyes, now so close.
She felt fear.
For the first time in her life, she felt fear!
It was a fear from deep within her heart.
And everyone around was stunned, unable to say a word.
Fergus spoke, "I'll give you two options too. Submit or disappear forever!"
Aria's face turned pale with fear, sweating profusely.
Fergus paused, "Since you let me take a few steps, I'll let you take a few too, but to make sure you don't run, I'll use another method."
He lightly patted Aria's face.
Aria's body trembled.
Jennifer also trembled, biting her lip hard.
Everyone was shocked, as if struck by lightning. This was Aria, the boss of the Mountain State gang, the woman who had killed her husband and poisoned eighteen leaders, and she was being patted?
Fergus patted her face again.
Aria didn't speak.
Fergus patted her again.
Aria still didn't speak.
Fergus patted her once more, and everyone was stunned.
Jennifer couldn't stand, her body trembling.
Fergus patted her one last time.
"This is the last one," he said.
Aria gritted her teeth, bent her knees, knelt on the ground, and looked up, "I submit. From now on, I will follow your orders!"
For someone who could dodge bullets and easily defeat two Grand Masters, she had no courage to resist anymore.
The whole crowd was stunned.
