Chapter 26 The Ordinary Yet Confident Johnson Family

Seeing Fergus's face, Violet burst out laughing. She thought, 'He can face Samuel and Frank without flinching, but he's nervous around women.'

Biting her lip, Violet asked, "Fergus, are you still a virgin?"

Fergus felt a wave of embarrassment and silently cursed his master. If it weren't for him, he wouldn't have been in this mess.

Unable to handle Violet's teasing, he shook off her hand, sat on the sofa, and said seriously, "Violet, sit down. We need to talk."

He was ready to lay it all out. If she agreed, they'd get married. If not, they'd break off the engagement.

Violet was puzzled. After a moment, she asked, "Do you want to know why I came to Tarynville? And why it matters so much to me?"

She thought, 'He must've overheard our conversation earlier and wants to know what's going on.'

"Why?"

Fergus was curious but didn't like prying. If Violet hadn't brought it up, he wouldn't have asked.

Violet sighed, sat beside him, and leaned her head on his shoulder, saying sadly, "Remember I mentioned having a fiancé?"

"Yes!" Fergus replied, feeling frustrated. He was the fiancé; how could he forget?

Violet continued, "He comes from a mysterious family. To connect with them, I became the Gray family's sacrificial lamb, destined to marry their foolish son."

"Coming to Tarynville is a bet with my family. If I can't succeed here, I'll have to marry that fool."

"I don't want to marry him."

Fergus was confused. He was supposed to be her fiancé; how did he become a fool?

"You're not lying to me?"

Violet looked at him pitifully. "You heard it. If my fiancé were ordinary, why would I say my life is ruined?"

True.

Fergus nodded, thinking, 'She doesn't know I'm her fiancé. The Gray family didn't tell her and wants to find her a foolish husband. They want to break off the engagement. Fine, it's already over.'

Violet blinked and said, "Fergus, I won't marry that fool. I need to achieve something in Tarynville. Will you help me?"

Fergus felt a tickle in his heart, struggling to say, "If you succeed, what if your family still wants you to marry?"

"Then we'll elope!" Violet blurted out. "Fergus, if my family doesn't keep their word, will you take me away? I'll be devoted to you."

"We'll find a place where no one knows us and have lots of kids."

"You earn the money, and I'll take care of things at home."

When Fergus heard this, his heart stopped itching. Looking at Violet's beautiful face and star-like eyes, he had the urge to take her away right then.

He couldn't help but say, "As long as you're with me, I'll make sure you live in luxury."

When Violet heard this, her body trembled slightly. Looking at Fergus, she felt a strange new feeling growing inside her.

It was like a spring breeze, fragrant everywhere.

She couldn't control herself and closed her eyes, pouting her lips.

Fergus saw her moist lips, his breathing becoming rapid. Forgetting about his master, he mimicked the poses described by those in prison, inching closer.

Getting closer and closer, they could feel each other's breath and body heat.

At that moment, the phone rang.

Both were startled.

Violet opened her eyes, her face flushed, and turned away, not daring to look at Fergus. Her fingers clenched into fists as she silently chanted, 'Violet, are you really falling for him?'

Fergus coughed awkwardly, took out his phone, and saw it was Sophia calling.

He didn't want to answer but felt awkward not doing so.

"What is it?" he answered.

"Come to the Tarynville Hotel. I have something to say!"

Sophia's voice was cold and distant.

"No time!" Fergus hung up immediately, hating being ordered around.

A second later, Sophia called again, "Your Master left something when setting the prenuptial agreement. Come and get it!"

With that, she hung up quickly.

Fergus frowned. He didn't want to see Sophia, but since it involved his Master, he had to go.

"I have something to do."

"Go ahead," Violet said, still not looking at him.

As soon as Fergus left, Violet's phone rang too. It was from Sarah, recounting everything from the auction.

"Plot 140 was taken by the Logan Group?" Violet was surprised and pondered, 'Uncle Frank has leaked the news about Plot 140. If develops properly, it would be very profitable.'

She could prove herself to the family.

But now, it was taken, and a large profit was lost.

Just one step away!

"Ms. Gray, we could have gotten this lot for 90 million dollars. It's all Fergus's fault for angering Logan, forcing him to compete!"

"Fergus's impulsiveness cost us our early advantage!"

Sarah still didn't think highly of Fergus and wanted Violet to fire him.

"Shut up!"

Violet said sternly, "From now on, I don't want to hear a single bad word about him from you. If you do, you'll be fired immediately!"

At Tarynville Hotel, Sophia, in a white dress, looked as pure as snow. Her cold demeanor, paired with this outfit, made her seem like a fairy, drawing many admiring glances.

"Where's the thing?"

Fergus sat across from Sophia, reaching out his hand.

Sophia had been looking out the window. She turned to see Fergus's face,  displeasure flashing acrossher eyes. She said coldly, "No one ever dared to hang up on me. You're the first!"

She was still angry about Fergus hanging up on her multiple times. As Tarynville's most beautiful woman, she had countless admirers. They would be thrilled just to hear her voice, let alone hang up on her.

"You talk too much. I'm not here to listen to this. Where's Master's thing?" Fergus asked again.

So what if he hung up? If it weren't for Master's thing, he wouldn't have come.

A flash of anger crossed Sophia's eyes, but remembering her father's advice to maintain a good relationship, she held back.

She said in a deep voice, "I know you're angry about my parents, but you must understand. This world is very realistic. Before you became Ms. Gray's partner, you were just an ex-convict."

"And my family, as the richest in Tarynville, had no reason to entertain you!"

"There's a big gap between us."

"Even now, as Ms. Gray's partner, you shouldn't be hostile towards me. It will only benefit you to build a good relationship with me!"

Fergus laughed in anger, finding Sophia's serious demeanor amusing.

He mocked, "I don't understand why your family can be so ordinary yet so confident. The Johnson family thinks so highly of themselves; is it a hereditary 'disease'?"
