Chapter 105- He's Awake

He cannot die please, he can't die, I can't lose him too.

I chanted in my head over and over again as we all waited for the doctors to bring good news, it's been over thirty minutes and still we haven't heard anything.

“ It's okay aunty, he'll be fine, have some faith," I said to my aunt as I held her hand and she nodded looking up at me with tears filled eyes.

Where's that husband of hers? He should be here with her in a time like this.

“ Thank you Ariana, I don't know what I would have done without your help, you're such a sweetheart," she said and I just smiled,

" Why are they taking so long?" My mom asked in worry.

“ I don't know," I said with a sigh. We'd just have to wait and see.

The door finally opened and immediately all three of us stood up as we rushed to the doctor,

“ Doctor how is he doing? Is he doing fine now?" My aunt Celia asked in one breath,

“ Calm down please ma'am, he almost had a stroke but we were able to manage the situation just fine, he's doing okay now but you can't see him just yet," the doctor said and I couldn't help but release a breath I didn't know I was holding.

“ Thank you doctor, thank you," I said and he nodded before he walked back into the room.

I turned to my aunt and hugged her and my Mom joined the hug.

“ See, I told you he's going to be fine," I said as she held onto me tightly as she sobbed in my chest and my Mom squeezed her shoulder.

I know we all wanted to cry but if we were all crying who was going to console the other? So my Mom and I had to be strong.

We sat down outside, waiting for them to finish what they were doing inside the room with my grandpa so they could tell us if we could see him.

Some time later the door opened and the doctors and nurses walked out and once again we stood up and walked to them.

“ Can we see him now?" My Mom asked,

“ Yes, but you must make sure not to disturb him," he said and we all nodded simultaneously.

“ Thank you doctor," I said as the doctor nodded before walking away.

I opened the door and we all walked in as I saw that more cables were added to him and the sight was heart wrenching.

“ They say he's fine, there's no need to cry again, Aunt Celia, just stay strong for grandpa," I said to Aunt Celia who looked like she was about to have another crying episode.

I couldn't blame her. It's not even two years since she lost her brother, my dad and now she has to watch almost the same thing.

She took a deep breath before walking to his bedside and sitting down.

“ Dad wake up, I'm here, I miss you, Ariana is here, Victoria is here and we all want you to wake up," she said as she joined her hand with his and as much as I told myself I wanted to be strong I couldn't help the silent tears that fell from my eyes.

Be strong Ariana, be strong. I consoled myself.

I walked to the couch and sat down as I watched him and then my Mom walked to where I was and sat down beside me.

I know that I was still mad at her but right now I needed someone by my side so instead of thinking about what happened between us I just hugged her instead and I could feel her breath in relief.

“ Everything is going to be alright, we'll be happy again." she whispered as she dropped a kiss on my head and I closed my eyes soaking in her warmth.

“ I hope so," I whispered before I closed my eyes. I was tired.

Really tired.

I woke up with a groan as I looked up at the ceiling before I stood up from the couch I was sleeping on. It was so uncomfortable sleeping on it but I had to be here for my—

I quickly turned when I heard my aunt laughing and my eyes went round in shock and happiness.

“ Grandpa!" I called with joy as I rushed towards him almost falling because of the blanket I was too happy and forgot to remove.

“ Shit," I cursed as I removed the blanket from around my ankle and threw it on the couch before I ran to my grandpa's side.

“ Grandpa," I called as tears of joy filled my eyes.

“ You're awake…why didn't you people wake me?” I asked my mom and aunt as I looked at them with a glare.

" You were asleep and you looked so tired so I couldn't wake you,” my Mom said,

" I'm so happy, I'm so happy grandpa I thought I lost you,” I said as I looked at him and he just smiled down at me.

" He's not saying much but the doctor said it will get better,” my aunt explained and I nodded.

I didn't care about that right now, as long as he was here and he was awake that was what really matters to me.

I chuckled when he weakly brought his hand to my cheek and I moved closer to him so he wouldn't stress himself.

“ I'm —" he stopped and took deep breaths,

“ You don't have to say anything grandpa, just focus on getting better," I said,

“ Pro… ooud—" he stopped again, I think I got what he was trying to say.

“ You're proud of me," I said and he relaxed as he smiled.

" Thank you grandpa, but I'm even more proud of you for not giving up, you fought hard and we're all proud of you,” I said as I held his hand while my aunt held the other one.

A knock suddenly came on the door and it opened to reveal uncle Garry, he finally decided to grace us with his presence.

“ Honey you're here, my dad is awake," my aunt happily said,

“ I see," that was all he said as he gave Grandpa a light nod and I fought really hard not to roll my eyes.

“ Ariana," he called and I turned to him with a raised brow. What did he want with me now?

“ Can I have a word with you?"
