Chapter 99- Found At Last
“ I'm sorry to call you by this time of the night Miss Miller," he said as I felt my heart thudding in my chest, I had to place my hand on my chest trying to calm myself down, I didn't even know what he was calling me for.
“ No problem, why did you call?" I asked, as I heard him sigh.
“ We found Mr Miller and he's in the hospital, we just wanted to inform his family," the world became silent for a moment as his words really registered in my head. They've found him, they've found my grandpa.
“ Miss Miller,” I heard the officer's voice bringing me out of my shock,
" Yes officer, thank you, I'm on my way, oh God, you have no idea how happy I am, I'm coming,” I said as my voice cracked,
“ We're expecting you Miss Miller,” he said as I thanked him before ending the call.
I couldn't control myself, I broke into a sob as I covered my mouth trying not to wake Sasha up, I felt overwhelmed but overall I felt happy, they really found him, I can't believe it.
“ Are you okay Ariana?" I heard Sasha's sleepy voice ask and I knew that I wasn't quiet enough,
“ I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you," I said as I wiped my tears as I stood up making my way to my closet and she followed me.
“ I'm really not worried about the fact that you woke me up but I'm worried about why I would wake up and see you crying, what happened girl?" She asked as I picked the first clothes my hand touched and started getting dressed,
“ And it looks like you're going out, where are you going?" She asked in worry,
“ I'm sorry Sasha, it's just that…” I stopped as I took deep breaths before I became a crying mess again.
" They found my grandpa,”
" Oh my God, really? I'm so happy,” she said as she rushed to me and hugged me,
" I can't believe it Sasha after looking for him for weeks, he's finally found, I have to go to the hospital,” I said as she nodded then pulled away from the hug.
“ I'll get dressed and follow you, I'll meet you outside," she said before walking out of my room,
I took deep breaths as I bit my lips trying to hold back the tears. If my grandpa was awake I wouldn't want him to see me like this.
When I was done dressing, I walked out of the house as Sasha met me outside and we both walked to my car.
“ I'll drive, you're not in the position to drive right now," she said and I didn't bother arguing with her, I just opened the passenger's door and got in. I'm in the passenger's seat while she took the driver's seat as she started the car and drove us out of the mansion.
“ You should know that I'm not really good with handling stress so you better calm down before I park this car on the side of the road and we both cry our eyes out," she said and I couldn't help but chuckle,
“ Sorry," I said as the car became quiet.
We soon reached the hospital as I opened the car door and stepped out. To think that I was called to this hospital to identify if a man was my grandfather or not and now I'm here because they actually did find him.
“ It's okay," Sasha said as she held my hand and we both walked into the hospital.
“ Officer, is it really true that you've found him?" I asked, wanting to be sure,
“ I wouldn't have called you by this time Miss Miller if we didn't have your grandpa, we called you because we have found him, he's in his room," the officer said and I released the breath I didn't know I was holding.
“ Where is he? Take me to him please," I said as the officer nodded and then he told us to follow him and we did.
We reached a room door and the door was pushed open as the officer walked inside and I followed behind him, this time without hesitation.
A lump formed in my throat when I saw my grandpa on the bed. He looked more of bones than flesh and I couldn't control the tears, I let them flow as I turned away from him and hugged Sasha.
“ It's okay, he's alive, he just needs to be taken care of and then he'll be back on his feet," she said as she combed her finger through my hair trying to console me.
“ Why would anyone do something like this to him! He hasn't done anyone anything," I cried as I held onto Sasha like my life depended on it.
I finally calmed down because I didn't want to wake him, I just wonder how long he has gone without a proper meal or sleep.
“ Let's talk outside," I said to the officer who nodded as he opened the door and we all stepped out, closing it as quietly as possible.
“ Where did you find him?" I asked,
" He was left beside a dumpster and a kind stranger found him and he brought him to the hospital,” He said,
They left him there like trash, I just can't imagine what he must have been through all this time that he has been missing.
“ The person that brought him, is he still around?" I asked but the officer shook his head,
“ He left as soon as he talked to us," he said and I nodded. I would have really liked to thank him.
“ Okay, so officer, is there any news concerning the people behind this? What if they come back again?" I asked,
" We're still on it Miss Miller and we'll get them soon,” they're always on it, how long will it take to bring those criminals to book?
I was in a good mood so I decided not to ask him any further questions.
“ Alright officer, please try to speed things up," I said and he nodded before walking away.
“ Gosh, he looks so annoying, you know girl, I know it isn't easy to catch criminals but that man looks like he isn't even trying," Sasha said with a scowl on her face as she watched the officer walk away..
“ I don't want to think about that right now, I just want my grandpa to get well and back on his feet," I said,
" Yeah, thank God he's found now,”Sasha said and I nodded,
My grandfather has been found but the people who kidnapped him haven't been found, it felt like we were still in the same circle.
We were still in danger.
