Chapter 72- She's The Queen

I quickly rushed to her as she handed me her phone and I looked at the headline in shock.

‘ RETIRED CEO, MR PHILIP MILLER RUMORED TO BE DEAD, HOW TRUE IS THIS?’

“ This isn't good Hardin, people are going to start believing this rumor and they're going to request for Mr Miller to make an appearance and we still don't know where he is, how are we going to calm the public?" Vera said and she wasn't wrong.

There hasn't been a public announcement made concerning the disappearance of Mr Miller and whoever released this on the News knew what they were doing.

They were trying to start an uproar, from spreading one rumor another rumor would arise and that is how different rumors would keep spreading, all of them with the goal of making my boss look incapable.

I don't understand why people would be so desperate to fight for something that doesn't belong to them, they wouldn't work for theirs and then when another person suffers to grows his empire to the top and then hands it to someone he can trust they become bitter about it.

“ We have to go," I said as I quickly took my jacket and phone as Vera and I walked out of my house..

She walked to my garage and then soon she drove out with my Bentley and I got in as she drove us to the office.

She wasn't working today because she had a week off.

She stopped in front of the company and I stepped out of the car before walking into the company. I saw a few of our staff looking at something on their phone and I knew that it was the news they were all looking at.

I walked to the elevator as I opened it and got in, then I pressed the button for our floor as I patiently waited to reach.

When I reached our floor I stepped out of the elevator and was about to walk to my office but I stopped when I noticed my boss's office ajar. Was she already in the office? This wasn't the time she usually comes to the office.

I opened the office door without knocking and there she was standing in an all white suit looking like an angel as she looked through the tall window that overlooked the city.

She hadn't noticed me as she seemed lost in her thoughts.

“ Miss Miller," I called but didn't get any response. She was completely swimming in her thoughts.

“ Miss Miller,” I tried again but she didn't even flinch.

I took the pen from my pocket and purposely dropped it on the floor with a loud noise and her shoulders jerked before she turned around to see what was happening.

“ Hardin you're here,"

“ Sorry I dropped this," I said as I bent down to pick the pen.

“ I think we should have a press conference, tell the public what really happened that night, this might in a way help the Miller's Cooperation gain sympathy and support from the public,” I said and she glared at me.

“ Even if I'm making a press conference it's not because I want their sympathy, it's because I don't want people to think my grandpa is dead, he's not dead, I know that, I can feel it right here in my heart,” she said as she pointed to her chest and I nodded.

“ So what are we going to do?" I asked.

" Hold the conference, I won't be answering any questions, I'll just give them a statement that my grandpa isn't dead, nobody should go around with that rumor,” She said.

But the truth was we didn't even know where Mr Miller was, whether he was dead or alive. But nevertheless we are going to have the conference so people know what was going on before they start sending condolences and flowers.

I quickly arranged for the conference as I and my boss walked out of her office as we both got into the elevator heading to the conference hall.

Some of our company's staff were also in the hall like they were also anxious to know which was the truth.

My boss had a hard face, one that showed that she wasn't a woman who could be easily brought down. Let her show whoever has been trying to bring her down that she was still standing and she wasn't falling anytime soon.

She climbed on the stage as she looked at everyone with calculated eyes.

“ Hello everyone, thank you for your quick response to my call, I'm sure you all heard about the rumor going around that my grandpa is dead, unfortunately…” she stopped as she looked at everyone and they all looked at her in anticipation.

" My grandpa has been missing since the night of his birthday and the Miller's family have been trying to find him, we have not been able to share the news to the public because we were still waiting for him to show up, so whoever released that rumor should have instead helped us in looking for him rather than spreading a rumor that he's dead, please beware of what you say,” And who you mess with. I said the words that were clearly written in her eyes.

“ Well I won't say more than this, hope you understand and support us rather than giving us false news like that, thank you all," she said as she walked down the stage.

The reporters started throwing questions but she held her head high and didn't bother turning to them as we both walked out of the conference room.

We were walking to the elevator when I noticed my boss stopped and quickly turned like she saw something.

She looked around before turning to me with her brows pinched together.

“ Did you see that man? The one that just ran past us?”

" Yeah, why?” I asked but she shook her head dismissively.

“ It's nothing," she said but it wasn't nothing as she kept turning until we were inside the elevator.

Can someone tell me why my boss looked like she saw a fucking ghost.
