Chapter 53- The Birthday Party

I was dressed in a black suit and white shirt and I had on one of my brown leather shoes I got from Italy. Tonight was a special night for the Miller's and I had to look my best.

I watched as people made their way into the hall dressed in lavish suits and gowns. You could tell only the top were here. Mr Miller was a well respected man.

I made sure that everything had been taken care of, I couldn't afford for anything to go wrong.

The celebrant was yet to come out as people were just walking in. Mrs Miller was at the entrance as she welcomed the guests.

I looked around for any sign of my boss but she was nowhere to be found. She was supposed to be here too to welcome the guests. People are going to start talking.

Where the hell was she?

The MC climbed on the stage as she started talking but my mind wasn't on what she was saying because I was busy searching around for my boss. She couldn't be absent on such a day like this.

Just what if she's taking her time to get dressed, women do those things right?

“ Welcome, thank you for coming," I said to one of our partners with a smile as he walked to a table to get seated.

I still used the opportunity to look around for Miss Miller but she wasn't anywhere in sight. I know she wouldn't miss her grandfather's birthday party but why wasn't she here yet.

“ Ladies and gentlemen, join me as we welcome the celebrant tonight, Mr Philip Miller!!" The MC said and just like everyone, I turned to where Mr Miller was to see him walking down the stairs.

Believe me, I tried, I tried to look at Mr Miller but I just couldn't help but stare at the woman beside him.

My boss.

I know she was my boss and I shouldn't be looking at her the way I was, but damn, I was allowed to have a moment of weakness and it didn't help that she was blonde.

I was a sucker for blonde hair women and the woman walking down the stairs was blonde and beautiful. You could add an attitude.

Why the hell was I mesmerized by a woman I was supposed to hate?

I know she was beautiful, not that I ever plan to admit that to her face. Never ever.

The red dress she had on just complimented her fair skin and her hair was tied up to show her slender neck. At the moment she didn't look like arrogant Ariana, she looked like a beautiful model who just walked out of a magazine.

She was breathtaking.

She had this special glow to her that drew the attention of everyone both from the people that liked her and those that hated her.

She walked down the last step like a queen as she had her arm linked with her grandfather's.

She stopped at our table as her grandfather kissed her on the cheek before walking to the stage to give an opening speech before his birthday party kicked off in full.

He climbed up the stage as he walked to where the mic was and God, tell me why my stupid eyes were looking at my arrogant boss every fucking second.

What was wrong with me?

“ Well, I never realized I was getting old, thank you all for letting me know," Mr Miller said and the entire hall broke into laughter.

“ For coming out here to join me and my family in celebrating my sixty one year birthday I just want to say thank you, it means so much to me, to us,” he said with a smile.

“ Well, let's enjoy the night," he said as one of the waiters walked to the stage with a glass of champagne and he took it off the tray.

“ Well, I'm going to toast to a memorable night," he said as he lifted the glass of champagne.

“ To a memorable night,” He said,

" To a memorable night,” everyone echoed, raising their champagne glasses, before dropping it as everyone clapped.

The party kicked off in full and it was a typical rich people's party. Talking and getting more clients and business partners.

My boss was talking to a man when I noticed that he started snaking his hand around her back and she kept trying to push his hand away but he wouldn't get the hint.

Pervert.

I knew that if this wasn't a public event and she didn't want to make a scene she would have given that man a word that he'll forever think of.

“ Excuse me please," I said to the man I was talking to as I walked to my boss.

“ Excuse me, Miss Miller, someone would like to talk to you," I said and she nodded before excusing the man.

“ You looked like you needed help back there," I said and she just nodded without saying a word.

“ Mom, where's Grandpa? How can the birthday man not be here?” I heard Ariana ask.

“ He'll be back, he said he was going to use the restroom," Mrs Miller said.

" Oh, he should hurry, his guests are missing him,” She said as she sat down beside her Mom.

" Mr Smith," I heard Mrs Miller call me and I quickly walked to her.

“ Yes, Mrs Miller,” I said.

" Can you please check my Dad for me,” she said and I nodded before excusing them to go do what she asked me.

I walked out of the hall as I walked into the Miller's house and then I headed to Mr Miller's room.

I knocked on his door but there was no response.

“ Mr Miller, are you good?” I asked from outside.

I tried opening the door but it was locked. I'm not sure he came back to his room.

I brought out my phone and called my boss.

“ Miss Miller, is Mr Miller back in the hall?" I asked.

“ You were asked to look for him, why are you bothering me, he's not here," she said and she didn't wait a second before she ended the call like I was a waste of time.

I'm even surprised she picked.

I decided to check if he used the restroom in the hall instead, I should have checked there first.

I quickly walked back to the hall as I entered the male restroom.

I dialed Mr Miller's number but it kept going to voicemail.

Okay this is strange.

I opened the restroom and got in.

“ Mr Miller," I called but I didn't get any answer.

“ Mr Miller," I tried again.

I called about five times and still I didn't get any answer. He wasn't here.

I was about to walk out of the restroom when something caught my attention.

I stopped and walked to the door as I opened it, and just there on the floor was….

Oh shit!
