Chapter 175- Forty Eight and still a bitch
ARIANA'S POV
“ I was in the area and just decided to say hi, you know, there's nothing wrong with saying hi to your rival, is there?" She asked and I just rolled my eyes, really not in the mood to be having this conversation with her.
“ What is it you really want?" I asked because I knew she wouldn't just walk into my office without a reason.
They were always looking for trouble one way or the other even if we didn't want anything to do with them.
“ Come on darling, you know we Richards like being classy and who says it's wrong to walk into the office of your rival to check how they're doing? Hmm, I'm just being nice,"
" Well, as you can see I'm doing well, can you leave my office? I was busy before you walked in to interrupt me.”
This particular member of the Richards has always been pompous and annoying. She was married to the second heir of the Richards company, she was way older than me but she doesn't have my respect because she behaves like a child sometimes. In fact all the fucking time.
“ Oh, by the way, Mr Robinson says hi," she said and I was confused until the realization dawned on me and my eyes narrowed.
So it was her doing? I wonder what she must have given to him to make him cancel on us that day.
“ Well, you can keep him, doesn't change the fact that we're still leading," I said and she threw her head back and laughed.
“ Did you just say leading? Come on darling, the Richards have always been leading and would continue to lead. The sooner you realize this the better," I couldn't be but groan in annoyance.
“ Don't you have things to do? I heard you're forty eight and still spend all your time shopping why don't you go ahead and do that, rather than feeding my ears with your annoying voice, it's traumatizing," I said and her eyes flashed dangerously as she looked at me like I crossed a line but I didn't fucking care.
“ Please leave my office while I'm still being nice, please," I said, already fed up with her.
" Very well then, don't miss me too much,” she says, trying to be composed like my words didn't affect her but I could see right through her.
" Wasn't even going to miss your presence, please leave,” she looked at me like she was going to say something but then she shook her head and adorned a fake smile before she turned on her heels and walked out of my office, closing the door behind her.
Bitch.
As soon as the door closed it opened again and I thought she came back until I saw it was Hardin.
“ I'm sorry, I tried to stop her from coming in but she insisted," he apologized but I shook my head.
“ It's not your fault you have nothing to apologize for, I know that woman quite well and she doesn't like taking no for an answer," I said and he nodded as he took a seat in front of me.
“ What did she want?" He asked,
“ What else except? To cause trouble and get on my nerves," I said with a sigh, they usually say when people get older they get wiser but hers is the other way round.
“ You know she was responsible for the reason Mr Robinson canceled the meeting with us, I'm sure she must have convinced him to invest with them, although I don't know how," I said in disgust. Some people didn't know how to respect themselves.
Yeah, business wasn't a fair game but there are boundaries to everything. Don't try to take what belongs to another.
“ She can keep him," he said and I couldn't help but chuckle.
“ That's the same thing I said,”
" Oh,” he said with a small laugh, he looked like he wanted to ask me something but he was stopping himself.
" Is something the matter, Hardin?" I asked.
“ Uhm…I think it's time we talk about what happened earlier today, your life is in danger and you're taking it too lightly,” he said.
" I'm fine Hardin,”
" No you're not, and I'm not leaving until we talk about it,” he said and I sighed. I didn't want to talk about it but from the look in Hardin's eyes, it was like he was telling me to speak or we might as well continue sitting here watching each other.
“ Okay, where do I begin?” I asked.
" Anywhere, we've got time.”
