Chapter 65- Annoying Questions

I stopped the car outside the company and I stepped out of the car as my boss did the same but immediately, we were surrounded by a group of reporters.

What the heck did they want?

I quickly rushed to the other side where my boss was as I blocked her from them.

“ Miss Miller, are you truly convinced that you're the right person to run the Miller's Cooperation?" One reporter asked as we tried to make our way from them but we were totally surrounded by them.

“ Do you feel that the pressure to prove yourself is greater because of your gender?” Who the fuck was this and why did he think she was trying to prove herself to anyone?

One thing I knew about my boss was that she didn't give a fuck about anyone. These reporters were just trying to force words out of her mouth.

“ Miss Miller, how do you plan to overcome the perception that you're not as capable as your predecessors?” Another reporter dared to ask.

What the fuck was wrong with these people? And couldn't they see that we were trying to get into the office and work?

“ Please excuse us, excuse us," I said, trying to push past them. Our company security were also trying to get them to give us way but they were still persistent to get their stupid questions answered.

" Miss Miller, from the last birthday party for Mr Miller, he left the party because he was sick. Is he facing an illness that is a threat to his life and that was why he made you the CEO?” What the fuck?!

At this question my boss stopped and I quickly held her hand because I knew she was about to give a response she would regret saying later.

We finally pushed through the sea of reporters as we entered the company and my boss walked in anger to the elevator. I followed behind her, maintaining a distance. She could be a ball of flame when she's angry.

And damn I was about to enter the elevator with her.

We both got into the elevator as I press the button for our floor.

“ You know they're only trying to piss you off right? It's their job to piss people off," I said.

“ I just hate that any one would talk about my grandpa especially when we still don't know where he is,’ she said.

" We'll find him,” I said.

" Hopefully, I just pray nothing's happens to him,” she said and I could hear the sadness in her voice.

" Hopefully,” I said.

" Shit! Fuck! Give me your phone Hardin,” she suddenly said and I looked at her in confusion but nevertheless I handed her my phone.

" What's wrong, Miss Miller?” I asked.

" I lost my phone with the car and I didn't call my Mom,” she said.

Oh.

" I called her,” I said and she turned to look at me with scrunched brows.

“ Did you tell what happened last night?" She asked but I shook my head.

“ I told her we we working overtime and you asked me to call her because you were busy," I said.

" Oh, thank you,” she said. Well, my boss was getting frequent with telling me thank you.

Does she think I'm her angel or something after saving her?

“ I'll just call her to say hi,” she said and I nodded. Her new phone would be arriving soon.

“ Hey Mom," she said as her hand went to touch her head like she was checking for her temperature.

“ I'm okay, I was just busy and I knew that once I talk to you, I'll want to come back home,” she said with a smile.

" Oh, there was a little problem with mine, I'll have to get another one,” she said. I'm guessing her mother was asking why she was using my own phone.

“ Yes Mom, I'll be careful, you too, you have to be careful, please call security whenever you find anything out of the ordinary, just call them okay," she said.

“ Alright Mom…okay, I love you," she said before she ended the call and passed me back my phone.

“ Thank you," she said.

It's raining thank you today.

“ Welcome," I said as I put the phone in my pocket.

The elevator door finally opened and we both walked out of the door as my boss walked to her office while I walked to mine.

I walked to my chair as I kept my bag and sat down with a sigh. My mind couldn't help but replay everything that happened last night, how it would have been all over the news that the young Miller CEO was dead.

God forbid.

Whoever those people were last night were one of those hungry sharks desperate to bring an innocent woman down just because they couldn't accept the fact that she's better than them in every aspect.

After getting settled, I took my office tab as I walked to my boss's office.

I knocked on the door and immediately she responded.

“ Come in Hardin," It was still foreign hearing her call me Hardin instead of Mr Smith.

I opened the door and she was looking through something on her computer.

“ We have a meeting scheduled for 11:00am with all the planning committee for the fashion show next week,” I said, but when I looked at her she seemed like she was deeply buried in what she was looking at.

“ Who do you think would have taken my grandpa? Do you think they were the same people trying to get me killed last night?" She suddenly asked.

" I really can't point out anyone who might be responsible for Mr Miller's disappearance but as we both know, your grandpa is a successful man and that comes with enemies, not everyone likes a successful person,” I said.

" You're right,” she said.

" So what we have next on the sched…"

“ Oh God, please," my boss said, stopping what I wanted to say.

“ Should I cancel the meeting?" I asked but it seems she wasn't talking to me.

“ They found something, they found something concerning my grandpa's disappearance."
