Chapter 165- You're Not Worth It
ARIANA'S POV
I took a deep breath as I clicked on the mouse, opening the screen where I could watch what was happening in my mom's room. The only problem was that there was nothing, except darkness. Absolutely nothing on the screen.
What was happening? I'm supposed to see something right? Or maybe Sasha didn't set it well, it's supposed to be hanging on the picture just above her bed then why wasn't I seeing anything?
I picked up my phone and called Sasha. Anxiety was already building in my body, something just wasn't adding up.
“ There's nothing,” I said as soon as she picked up.
" What do you mean?” she asked in confusion,
" There was nothing, just a blank screen,” I said,
“ Doesn't make sense, I checked it and it was connected and everything was fine, why isn't it working?” she asked in confusion,
“ Wait, what if my Mom found it?” I asked,...”Because that's the only way I wouldn't be able to see or hear what's happening in her room when there should be a camera in there,” I said,
" Should I go check?" Sasha asked,
“ No, no need, thank you Sasha, I don't want you to get in trouble, I'll take it from here,” I said,
" Okay babes, just call me if you need anything,” she said,
" Thank you,” I said before I ended the call, throwing the phone on the table with a sigh.
Just when I think I'm one step ahead everything just comes crashing like I haven't done anything, and I have to go back to square one. It's frustrating.
Where the hell is Hardin when I need him?

HARDIN'S POV
I felt so fucking stupid, I did something I've been telling myself I wouldn't do. I fucking slept with Claudia.
“ I think you should leave," I said as soon as I entered the sitting room.
“ Hardin, I know you're upset that everything is complicated right now but I don't regret what happened between us last night, I know you felt the chemistry too,” surprisingly, I didn't feel anything, not with the way I felt with Ariana.
“ Yes everything is complicated which is the more reason I want you to leave, I had a fight with my best friend and my boss fucking walked in on all the drama, that wasn't how I wanted to start my day," I said,
I just couldn't pinpoint what it was but the look on Ariana's eyes when our eyes met made me feel some kind of way. It was like I was being judged and I didn't know why that made me feel bad.
“ I don't have anywhere to go, anywhere safe," she said and I turned to her with a glare.
“I'll look for a hotel with high security and you'll be fine," I said as I pointed to the door,
" Why are you casting me off Hardin, you know it's not safe out there for me,” she said but I shook my head, I didn't really care anymore.
" Just go, please," I said in frustration but she didn't make a move to leave.
“ Claudia, you do know that being here would put us in danger too right?” I asked and she looked down in sadness,
“ I'm so sorry that I'm dragging you into this, I'm sorry,” she apologized,
" It's okay Claudia but you have to leave,"
“I just wanted to be with someone I trust, someone who can protect me,” she said,
“I'm glad that you trust me,..." I said and she smiled…" but you're not worth losing my best friend over,” her smile immediately dropped.
" Excuse me,” I said before adjusting my suit jacket and walking out of the house. She could be here for all I cared but I was going to set boundaries and set things straight.
I got into the car as I drove off heading to the office, my fist was clenched tightly in anger and frustration,
I stopped in front of the company as I stepped out of the car and threw the key at the valet and he swiftly caught it.
I just needed to gather myself and meet my boss, I didn't even know how to face her. I got into the elevator as I patiently waited for it to reach our floor.
When the elevator finally reached I stepped out but I couldn't bring myself to walk to her office. How would she see me after all the drama she just saw this morning? And aside from that we had a deal and I didn't know if it meant staying away from other partners.
I took a deep breath before I walked to her office and knocked.
“ Come in Hardin," she said and I opened the door then walked in.
“ You finally decided to come take work…” she said with a smile as she looked up at me from her computer screen.
" Well, I'm glad you're here, we've got a lot of things to take care of,” she said,
I looked at her not knowing what to say, I was basically contemplating my next words in my head, Should I say it or should I not? I think my mouth concluded before my brain.
“ I'd like to quit,”
