Chapter 148- The Miller's Rivals
ARIANA'S POV
I hate that I love him but yet he has always been too busy to see me, he only saw me as Mr Miller's granddaughter and now he sees me as his boss.
I thought that pretending to be drunk and spilling my heart and everything I felt to him would make me feel better but I felt worse because at the end of the day he only thought I was drunk.
He must think I was spilling rubbish.
It's just that when I saw that woman and the way she looked at him I suddenly felt possessive. But in the end I was nothing in his eyes. Just Miss Miller.
I couldn't help but chuckle at my situation as I think back to when I used to hide behind pillars and watch him or when I'd purposely come into my grandpa's study when he was there only because I wanted to see him. It was like I was obsessed with him.
But I think it's better he thinks it's all a joke right? Because wouldn't that be embarrassing if he knows I've actually had feelings for him since he was my grandpa's intern and have always wanted him to be the first man to touch me.
I'm stupid, really stupid.
A knock came on my door so I straightened and hid my emotion before I told him to come in.
The door opened and he walked in with a tray having a coffee and something else on it I didn't know.
“ Here, this should calm the ache between your legs,...” he said as he handed me some tablets…” And the coffee should make you feel better," he said and I nodded.
He just stood there looking at me and I couldn't help it when my nipples perked and I rubbed my legs together.
“ We have a meeting with an investor this morning but I can go on your behalf," he said,
" I want you to look into the Night Walker gang, that's the gang that's after my grandpa, I need to know what they want from him,” I said but he looked confused as he looked at me for clarification,
" Scar told me my father got engaged with a gang when he was younger and something happened, he cut ties with them but it seems they didn't like that, I don't know their reason, that's what I want you to find out.” I said and he nodded,
" Is there any other thing you'd like me to do?” he asked,
“ No, that would be all please, thank you," I said and he nodded before walking out of my office and my eyes couldn't help but follow him until he was out the door.
Stupid man, he could take his handsome face and jump into the sea for all I care, I don't want him anymore. Yeah, tell yourself that, my inside whispered to me and I just rolled my eyes.
I had important things to deal with and none of them involved thinking about a man who would never look at me the way I want him to look at me.
I had to accept that fact before I got hurt.

HARDIN'S POV
She wasn't telling me something, there was a switch after what just happened between us, so many unspoken words and I could see it in her eyes but I couldn't figure out what it was.
Now I had a new task with the list of tasks that I already had. Perhaps I should consider a job as an investigator because that's what I've been doing lately.
I picked up my phone as I called my private investigator, I looked at my wrist watch seeing that I still had some time before the meeting with our investor.
“ Mr Smith," his voice came through the phone,
“ Hello, how are you?" I asked,
“ Good, what can I do for you?* he asked,
" Tell me everything you know about the Night Walkers gang, I'm sure you must have heard of them?” I asked,
" They're one of the most deadly gangs in this city, they've been a terror to this city for a long time and are still a terror, why do you want to know about them?" he asked,
“ It's personal, but I'd appreciate if you send me everything you know about them so I could look into it," I said,
“ I'll get into it and send the information to you as soon as I can," he said,
“ Alright then, have a nice day," I said before I ended the call.
I stood up as I walked out of my office to the elevator, I had to speak with our investor.
I got into my car and drove off to the restaurant.
When I got there, I parked my car outside the restaurant as I stepped out of the car and then I walked in.
I walked to our table as I patiently waited for him to come.
“ Hardin, I guess?" I heard a voice say from behind me and I turned to see the woman I met the other day from the bakery.
“ Hey, nice to see you again," I said as I stood up and shook hands with her,
“ What are you doing here?” she asked,
“ I'm here to meet with someone, for business," I said because I saw the way she raised her brows when I said I was here to meet with someone.
“ Okay, I just came to get something for my son," she said and I nodded,
“ Mr Smith," Mr James the investor I'm supposed to meet called,
" I'll leave you, have a nice day,” she said as she smiled at Mr James before walking away,
“ Did you come here to meet with her?" he asked as he looked at me,
“ No, I came here to meet with you, why?" I asked as we shook hands and sat down.
“ You don't know her?" he asked,
“ I met her at a bakery, that's how I know her," I said,
“ Wait, you really don't know her?” he asked in surprise,
" I don't, who is she?” I asked,
" She's one of the Henry's," he said as I tried to think of where I've heard the name,
" You still don't know?” He asked and I shook my head,
" The Henry's are the Miller's rivals,”
