Chapter 87- There's a Secret
The drive back to the office was quiet, I never knew that at the age of twenty five I'd have so many things to deal with like this. My head was beginning to ache.
I was still lost in my thoughts when my phone started ringing, making me jump.
“ It's your Mom,” my assistant said as he passed me my phone before focusing his eyes back on the road.
“ Hey honey, how are you?" She asked as soon as I picked up.
“ I'm doing fine Mom, how about you?" I asked.
“ I don't know, have you heard about Mrs Shawn?" She asked and I sighed.
“ Yes Mum, I'm still shocked by the news," I said.
" What is really happening?” She asked and I could hear the fear in her voice, she didn't feel safe.
I know my Mom, she's going to think the next bad thing will happen to her.
" Don't go there Mom, everything is going to be okay and nothing is going to happen to you," I said.
“ Alright honey, let's just have dinner at home, I'll make something," she said and I sighed.
“ Mom, I'll try and come home early so we can cook together alright," I said.
“ I'll just cook, the maids would help me, just make sure you're home early," she said.
“ Alright Mom, see you later," I said.
“ Okay, bye," I said before I ended the call.
" She must be worried sick,” Hardin said and I nodded.
The car stopped outside the office as I opened the car door and stepped out. For a moment I just stood there as I looked at the tall establishment my grandpa worked so hard for. The company they were fighting for.
I couldn't help but sigh before I walked into the building. They're going to get through me before they can touch what my grandfather worked hard for, and getting through me means someone is going to die and it's not going to be me.
We need to get everything sorted out as soon as possible before everything gets out of hand. There's just so much one person can deal with.
We walked to the elevator as we walked in and Hardin pressed the button for our floor.
“ Do you think my uncle might have something to do with this?” I suddenly asked.
“ Mr Garry is an unpredictable man, and I don't know if he is responsible for what happened with Mrs Shawn, did they have any connection whatsoever? I don't think," he said.
" But I can't think of anyone I know who would do this to me, he's the only person who hates me so much because I'm holding a position he desperately wants, a position he doesn't deserve,” I said.
" And he's not going to get it because you're the rightful owner of the Miller's Cooperation,” Hardin said.
" There's something I would like you to do for me, Hardin,” I said.
“ What is it, Miss Miller?” He asked.
" I want you to have Uncle Garry followed at all times, I need to know what that man is up to,” I said.
" I'll do that,” he said with a nod.
" I also want you to do something for me,” he said and I turned to him wondering what he could possibly want me to do for him.
“ I think it's time you hire bodyguards, for your own safety," he said but I shook my head.
“ I don't need bodyguards, it's only someone who is scared that takes bodyguards everywhere and I'm not going to give anyone the satisfaction of thinking I'm scared," I said as I folded my hands and kept my chin even higher.
“ I am Ariana Stone Miller, the rightful heiress to the Miller's Cooperation and I'm not going to let anyone scare me into giving that away, I'm not a scared chicken." I said and I heard him sigh.
I could understand how he was feeling but I'm doing okay, he didn't need to worry about me.
His ex-boss is missing and we just came from the hospital where an assistant was crying over his dead boss. He didn't want that to be him.
“ Nothing is going to happen to me," I said to him with a smile as the elevator door opened and we both walked out.
“ I'll be in my office," I said before I walked away heading to my office while he turned to his.
I quickly opened my office door and locked it. I know this was crazy but I've seen enough offices in movies to know that every old CEO definitely had a secret room or if not, something that was hiding in their office that seemed like they weren't hiding anything.
The office was totally changed to my taste but I just hoped I was going to find something.
With my hands on my hips I just looked around. Anything at this moment would do. I remember the note the officer's found in my grandpa's room. What could they really want from him?
I wish he was here to answer all these questions.
“ What could it be? I just know it's not just the company they want, there's more," I said to no one in particular as I scanned the office with my eyes.
There has to be something, but as I looked, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
This is so fucked up.

HARDIN'S POV
I looked at my phone on the table contemplating if I wanted to call this person. It's been over ten years that I haven't heard from him and I don't know if I wanted to have anything to do with him.
But right now, I felt like he was in the best position to help me with everything that has been going on.
He has the connections, he has the power, he could reach the darkest part of any city.
But calling him right now felt like I was awakening a beast that has been asleep for ages and I didn't want that.
But right now I didn't have a choice.
With a deep sigh, I picked my phone and dialed the number.
I hope I don't regret this.
