Chapter 12- I Am Not Scared
“ Get away from her! What are you doing here?" I asked as I quickly rushed to my Mom while uncle Garry pulled away from her. My mom looked scared like he just threatened her or something.
" Mom, what did he say to you? Are you okay?” I asked and my mom managed a smile but I knew it was forced. This man must have said something to her.
" I'm okay honey, your uncle Garry was just visiting to make sure I was doing okay,” She said as she looked at Uncle Garry.
I didn't like that man one bit, I still had that gut feeling that he had something to do with my father's death but I knew I couldn't make assumptions without proof.
“ Well, Gloria, I'm glad you're doing okay, if you need anything you know where to find me, take care." He said with a smile that if you didn't look closely you wouldn't see the evil glint in his eyes.
“ Well, Miss CEO Miller, do take care and remember to take care of your mom and that little wound you have on her head, lucky it wasn't all that bad, next time it might be worse, so be careful,” I got the message, I got the message quite well.
He looked at my mom one more time and then with a nod he walked out of the room. I quickly turned to my Mom.
“ Mom, if he said anything to you that you're scared of, talk to me and I'll deal with him," I said but my mom just chuckled as her hand touched my cheek.
“ Don't be silly, your uncle just came to see me, he is family too remember, he was just worried about me," She was lying, uncle Garry doesn't worry about anyone but himself.
That was why he married aunty Celia, he thought that marrying her would give him the chance to be made the CEO of the Miller's Cooperation but things didn't go his way and he's mad.
Whatever my mom was hiding from me I was going to find it one way or the other. Right now her health was my major concern.
“ Why would they do something like this to my sweet girl," She said as she ran her finger on the wound that was covered.
“ It's nothing Mom, some people cannot just accept defeat," I said.
“ I'm beginning to rethink this. What if something happens to you because someone out there wants this position badly or is against you? You're all I have left and I can't lose you," She said as she held my hand and brought it to her lips.
“ Nothing is going to happen, you worry too much,” I said as I squeezed her hand.
" I'm just worried, I'm a mother who feels like her child's life is being threatened," She said as she closed her eyes.
“ Is there something you're not telling me?" I asked her as I looked at her suspiciously.
“ Of course not, but I was thinking, what if I just resume as the CEO, look what just happened to you, I'm worried Ariana, I'm worried." She said as she tried to push back tears.
“ Mom, you're sick and I'm here for a reason, which is to take care of you, don't you trust me, have some faith in me," I said.
“ I trust you honey, it's them I don't trust, you see, people who are desperate and hungry for power can do anything to get it, you're so young and I don't want you to get hurt, I don't want you to be a victim of their desperation, it's a dangerous world out there.” Then that's good because I am danger myself. What they should be scared of is me.
A knock suddenly came on the door and my mom told the person to come in as a scared looking Agnes walked in with fruits in a plate and then another maid walked in.
“ Miss Miller, Mr. Miller would like to see you," She said and I nodded.
“ I'll be right back Mom, let me see what grandpa has for me," I said and she gave me a smile before I rose from where I was seated and walked out of her room.
“ Where is he?" I asked.
“ In his study," Did I even need to ask that, he was always in his study. That's his favorite place to be.
I reached the door and knocked and he told me to come in.
“ Hello grandpa," I said with a smile as I walked to him but instead of returning my smile his face was filled with worry.
“ Come on, why are you all looking at me like I'm a fragile doll and I'll break any moment? I'm doing fine, see, it's nothing," I said as I pointed to my head.
I walked around his table and hugged him.
“ My Angel,” He called with a sigh.
" Yes grandpa,” I said as I pulled from the hug then walked to the chair in front of him and sat down.
“ I'm proud of you, you're not letting them scare you at the same time I'm worried that something might happen to you," They were all saying the same thing.
" There's nothing for you to worry grandpa, that's what they want, to scare me, and they failed, they think I am a weak woman who would get scared and run to bed because of a small hit, after the incident I continued the day like nothing happened, I am not scared of anybody, they should know that,” I said.
" I think we should hire you bodyguards,” he suggested but I shook my head.
" I'm good, grandpa, as I said I am not scared of anyone. hiring bodyguards would just show that they got to me, it will just show that I am scared when I'm not.” I said as my grandpa shook his head looking at me with a charming smile.
" You're something else young lady," He said and I couldn't help but chuckle.
They thought they could scare me, they should watch their back because of the things I have planned out for them, it's a promise.
Because when I find out the people responsible, I'll be sending them to the deepest pit of hell, one by one.
