Chapter 33- Let's Be Friends

“ This doesn't make any sense Miss Miller, I don't get the point you're trying to make," I said as I folded my hands looking at her.

“ Well, the point I am trying to make Mr. Smith is that I am the boss and I get to decide what happens in this entire company and you don't have the fucking right to talk to me how ever you like, that's the point I'm trying to make. So get that into your thick head and get back to work," She said and I couldn't help but burst into laughter.

It wasn't because of what she said that I was laughing, rather it was how she tried to make herself appear scary, it was just so funny to look at her.

Who the fuck does she think she is?

“ Anything you find funny?" She asked me with a glare but I just couldn't stop laughing.

“ Miss Miller, your existence is funny,...” She tried to speak but I held my hand up stopping her.

“You're just like a little kitten trying to act like a panther, it's pathetic, this attitude of yours doesn't look good on you, change it,” I said as I turned around her table to go get my chair.

“ What do you think you're doing? I said you don’t get to have a chair, are you deaf?” She asked and instead of wasting my time to answer her I just took the chair.

I lifted the chair and started walking to the door.

“ I said get that chair back here you bastard, I'm talking to you," She snapped but I didn't stop. Not until I reached the door.

I turned to her and looked her straight in the eyes.

“ You do know you cannot fire me right?" I asked but she just watched me with hate in her eyes.

I just don't know but I have a feeling that this woman holds something against me that I wasn't aware of because how could you just see someone and already hate them? It's strange.

“ If I were you, I would treat me better because this battle you're starting is one you'll not be able to win." I said.

“ Mr. Smith, I don't start something I can't finish. You're disrespecting me as your boss and you know that nobody ever disrespects me and gets away with it,”

" So what do you call what you have been doing to me? Do you call that respect?” I asked.

" However way I treat you is because you deserve it,” She said and I couldn't help but scoff.

" You've drawn a line Miss Miller, I hope you're ready for this?” I asked as she slowly stood up from her chair with her head held high and a challenge clear in her eyes.

“ I Ariana Stone Miller will make your life a living hell,”

She asked for it.

Without saying another word, I opened her office door and walked out with my chair.

I walked to my office and placed my chair where it's supposed to be then sat down comfortably to get back to work.

I was so lost with work that I didn't realize it was lunch time until I heard my phone ringing.

I picked the call and it was arrogant Ariana calling.

What does the witch want this time around?

“ Yes Miss Miller?"

“ We're going for lunch, come to my office," She said and I had to turn to look at my phone to make sure I had heard correctly or maybe I was speaking to the wrong person.

“ Miss Miller, you want me to get lunch for you, is that it?" I asked in case I didn't hear her well.

" I said we're going for lunch," she said and before I could ask any more questions she ended the call. I looked at the phone in confusion before my hand went to rub my ears.

The royal witch herself did not just ask me to go for lunch with her did she?

I slowly stood up from my chair and walked to her office door and knocked.

“ Come in Mr. Smith," I blinked, like really blinked. This was the first time she has ever answered on my first knock and with a kind voice at that.

I think I need bullet proof.

This woman was up to something and I wouldn't fall for it. I opened her office door as my eyes went to the left and right just in case before I entered.

“ You asked for me, Miss Miller," I said.

“ Yes Mr. Smith, it's lunch time, you must be hungry, let's go for lunch," She said as she smiled up at me. I didn't actually hear wrong.

“ You want us to go for lunch Miss Miller? Like together?" I asked.

“ Of course, is there something wrong with that?" She asked. Of course everything was wrong with that.

“ Of course not,” I said.

Whatever game she was playing I was going to play along with her. I knew a witch like her cannot change her attitude just like that without having an evil plan.

“ Okay, let's go then, do you have a restaurant in mind?" She asked and I was about to help with her bag but she stopped me, yet again with a sweet voice.

" There's no need for that Mr. Smith, I can carry my bag, thank you,” she said with a smile before she picked the bag and we both walked out of the office.

I definitely need bullet proof in case all this is a trap to take me out and get me murdered.

We got into my car and I drove to the restaurant not too far from our company.

When we reached, I came down from the car and quickly rushed to open her door as she came down with a smile muttering a ‘thank you’ the first I've ever heard her say that was directed towards me.

We got into the restaurant and found a seat by the window as we sat down then a waitress came to attend to us.

“ Hello, welcome, please, what would you like to have?" She asked.

" I'll have anything he orders,” arrogant Ariana said.

Hardin don't be fooled, this woman has something cooking for you, if you fall you're a dummy.

I placed my order and the waitress took note before she excused us to go get what I asked for, for both of us.

" So while we wait, I'd like you to know that I did some serious thinking in my office and I realized that we can work better if we stop fighting and become friends,” She said and I tried so hard not to laugh.

I know what she was trying to do, she's trying to keep her enemy closer, let me play along and pretend not to know what she's up to.

“ Did you hit your head by accident?" I asked and I saw something flash in her eyes. She almost broke her act.

“ Why would you think that? I just want us to stop fighting, you're a good man and I feel like all that is happening is because we don't understand ourselves very well, so why don't you start by telling me about yourself,”

She wanted to know about me?

Don't fall for it, Hardin, don't.
