Chapter 176- The Invitation

ADRIAN'S POV

I told Antonio about everything that happened when I was kidnapped, well, the ones I could remember and by the time I was done I felt like some sort of weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

“ Wow and now he's out of prison, I'm asking for security immediately, you're not safe and for my peace of mind you'll be needing bodyguards," I looked at him like I was about to argue but stopped myself.

Right now, it wasn't about showing anyone if I was scared or now it was about doing the right thing.

With everything that has been going on it was time I accepted that I needed bodyguards. With what happened to Mrs Shawn and my grandpa's kidnap, it was high time.

“ Yeah, you're right," I said and Hardin smiled before getting up.

“ Everything will be alright," He said before reaching for my hand and giving me a squeeze that sent a jolt to my heart and then with a light bid he walked out of my office.

As soon as the door closed, I released the breath I didn't know I was holding.

“That was liberating," I said to myself as I turned back to my work to focus. Though I knew that was going to be hard.

*********

HARDIN'S POV

I couldn't believe why a dangerous man like that would be let to walk the streets when he should be behind bars facing sentence or getter still dead and here he was parading and walking around which means that there was someone backing him up.

Things were so complicated and there was nobody we could trust right now. Ariana had to be careful because this was far beyond anything we know.

I sat down on my chair as I took my phone to make a call, I knew that she wouldn't be comfortable with being followed around so I knew exactly what to do.

I dialed the number and he picked immediately.

“ Hello Hardin, how may I help you?" He asked,

“ I need two of your best guards, it's important,” I said and I heard him laugh.

“ So she finally decided to get bodyguards? Lemme guess, she has no other choice," he said and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

“Quit the joke Andrew,"

“Fine, I'll check my team and get back to you before the close of work today," he said and I nodded but quickly realized he couldn't see me.

“Yeah sure," I said before the call ended.

Andrew was a friend of mine that ran one of the top security agencies and I knew that I'd find the most competent bodyguard in his agency.

I got back to work as I read emails and replied to them. I was reviewing some documents when an email popped up from the Richards and I couldn't help but a raise a brow.

The Richards and The Miller's don't get along because of the rival and why would they send a mail to the Miller's for anything.

I clicked the email and opened it to see that it was an invitation for a ball. The Miller's wanted us to come for a ball. Okay that was strange.

I read the invitation over and over again before I forwarded it to Miss Miller, she was the one who could make the final decision, not me but I knew that whatever The Richards had in mind it wouldn't be for good.

Seconds after I sent the email, my phone started ringing and I saw that it was a call from my boss and I quickly picked it up.

“Yes Miss Miller,” I answered,

" Accept the invitation we'll be going, I need to know what they're up to,” she said,

" Yes, I'll do just that," I said.

“Thank you, it's about time I show those Richards that things are not as they used to be before," she said. "I know they want me to cower but that would be the last thing I'll do.”
