Chapter 170- Crossing The Line
HARDIN'S POV
I looked at Scar like he had suddenly grown two horns, what he was asking for was impossible.
“ That's impossible, you're on of the crime Lords in this city and you want to become a partner in my company, that's crazy,” Miss Miller said,
" You make it sound like it's a bad thing,” Scar said with a chuckle,
" Yes, because it is a bad thing, what will people say when they find out your identity and then you're our partner, not to talk of what the police will say,” she said,
" They wouldn't need to find out,” he said with a nonchalant shrug like it's nothing and what he was asking for wasn't so big of a request. I haven't spoken because I still didn't know what to say to him, I had to choose my words wisely.
“ You're asking for the impossible,” my boss said,
" Then I'm sorry I can't give you the jewelry,” he said. The bastard, he knew what he was doing.
" You're doing this on purpose aren't you?” my boss asked as she took a step towards him but I held her back,
" You're doing this on purpose, you know that if you make this request it would be too hard of a request to grant and then you wouldn't need to give us the jewelry, that's what this is all about,” she said,
“ If that's how you want to take it, then so be it," he said with a shrug,
" Miss Miller, we need to go, there's nothing we're going to say to this man that would make him change his mind, his mind is already made up, let's go,” I said,
“ I'm glad you've decided to make the right decision," Scar said and it was taking everything in me not to lunge at him and give him a word or two with my fist of course but I controlled myself.
“ You're being unbelievable, so we came here and this is what we get?" My boss asked,
“ I never asked you to come here, it was your decision, so stop blaming me like I asked you to come here and then disappointed you with what you expected to get," he said,
“ Miss Miller please let's leave," I said as I took my boss's hand and she had her eyes fixed on Scar like she wanted to rip out his neck, she looked so pissed.
What we've been looking for was finally within our reach but we couldn't get it because the person in possession of it wouldn't release it. It was damn frustrating.
I took her hand and turned to the door to open it so we could leave but the door was still locked.
“ Now you're going to lock us in here after refusing to give us what we want?" My boss said as she turned to Scar but I held her hand telling her to calm down. Every single thing was just upsetting her and I could understand why.
Scar chuckled before clapping twice and then the door opened.
The same man that led us in was the same person that led us out until we were outside the gate.
“ Bunch of annoying idiots," my boss muttered under her breath as soon as we opened the car door and got in.
“ You have to calm down," I said as she turned to me, the look in her eyes was like she was disappointed at me for telling her to calm down.
“ Calm down? It's really not every situation that one is supposed to calm down, you saw what just happened in there, that man was just toying with us and it's not funny,” she said as I took a deep breath before starting the car and driving off.
So many plans were already going through my head of how we could get back that jewelry and I knew that we would get it.
“ We'll get it back don't worry," I said and she turned to me briefly before turning to look out the window. It was like she didn't believe what I was saying but I don't give empty words.
Since Scar was trying to be stubborn, he forgot that I grew up on the streets and there are some things I knew how to do because of my street life and it was time I put those skills to use.
The car ride was quiet until we reached the company and I stopped the car. My boss quietly stepped out of the car and without wasting a second she was already making her way inside.
I stepped out of the car as I handed the keys to the valet and walked inside. From her footsteps you could tell she was angry and even the people around could sense that as everyone quickly moved back or glanced at her when they saw her.
She reached the elevator and got in and the door was about to close but I stopped it as I opened the door and stepped in.
My life was very peaceful. Note the sarcasm. I had trouble at home and even here too I still had problems like I was the boss or something.
The ride up was even more quiet than in the car. The elevator door opened and she walked out but before walking to her office, she gave a simple instruction.
“ Nobody should be let into my office, I want to be left alone,” she said before walking away.
I walked to my office as I got settled in my chair to start work. I still had my best friend to apologize to, she was mad at me and I'm hoping she would pick my call.
I dialed her number and it rang several times but she didn't pick up. I knew that it was going to take a long time for her to cool off. She didn't like Claudia one bit.
I had no choice but to go to where she was although I knew I was the last person she wanted to see.
We were a team and I needed her help to steal the Emerald eye.
Just as I made up my mind, my phone buzzed with a message and I turned to it and I couldn't help but scoff.
I don't care getting my hands dirty but I had to do this once and for all.
