Chapter 123- Let's Keep It Professional
HARDIN'S POV
I woke up with a groan as I rubbed my forehead, I didn't feel good one bit, I couldn't sleep because, guess what? I had wet dreams of a woman I shouldn't be thinking of.
This was frustrating.
I got out of bed as I walked to the bathroom to relieve myself before I walked out of the toilet and then I went to brush my teeth.
I looked at myself in the mirror and I looked sleep deprived. I don't know how it happened but I should have controlled myself but I let myself get lost. I let myself get lost in her sweet lips, for a man who has always told himself he didn't want to kiss any woman, I was such an eager kisser last night.
Fuck me.
I had my shower then I walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my waist as I looked through my clothes to get something to wear.
I picked a navy blue suit and sky blue shirt as I chose a matching tie. I quickly got dressed and sprayed my perfumes.
Now was the hardest part. How do I face her?
I took a deep breath as I walked to the bed and took my phone before walking out of my room.
I know I could knock on the door connecting our rooms but I didn't want to remind myself that I could have easily opened the door last night and go to her.
I stopped in front of her door as I took a deep breath and then I rang the doorbell.
I waited for some minutes before she opened the door and immediately I saw her, I swallowed.
Fuck, how was I going to survive seeing her everyday without thinking about the crazy night we had last night? It was like when I just look at her everything comes flashing back to my head.
“ Good morning Miss Miller," I said, my voice coming out thicker than I had planned for it to come out,
“ Hardin, uhm…come in,” she said as she moved away for me and I walked in.
It suddenly felt like the room was closing in on me. I felt hot.
“ I think we should…”
" Let's talk about what happened last night,” she said cutting me off of what I wanted to say,
“ Uhm…I'm…” I wasn't sorry and I couldn't lie about that fact, she tasted so good so why would I lie that I was sorry when I wasn't.
“ What happened last night shouldn't happen again, you're my assistant and the only relationship we're permitted to have is professional, we crossed the line last night,” she said and I nodded,
" Yeah you're right, that shouldn't happen again, we crossed the line and we shouldn't let our desire cover our rational mind,” I said,
" Yeah,” she said but her eyes quickly went to my lips before she removed them from me.
“ So is there any need to go back to the police station when they don't have any reasonable news to give to us?” she asked,
“ I think we should still drop by there maybe they might have something new for us," I said,
“ But I thought he said he was going to call if anything came up?" she asked,
“ Yeah, that's what he said," I said,
I noticed that she turned her back on me refusing to look at me, she wasn't always like this.
“ We should probably go to the police station then," I said,
" Alright, I'll grab my bag,” she said as she took her bag from the bed and then we both walked out of the room.
We were in the car going to the police station and the car was still filled with tension.
We couldn't just get over what happened last night by saying we should keep things professional.
What happened last night was wild, she was naked in front of me, she squirmed underneath me, she wanted more. I drove her crazy.
It's going to take time for us to cool off from what happened last night.
Whether she was my boss or not, I felt good touching her.
We reached the police station and I stepped out of the car as she stepped down too then we walked into the station.
“ Do you think the jewelry is with that person that sent that message, the person who thinks it doesn't belong to us but them?" She asked,
“ What if? Because if they didn't have it, why would they send that message?" I asked,
“ That's why we need that bitch to tell us who sent her to steal it so we'd be able to get it back,” she said in anger,
We walked to the officer's office and I knocked as he told us to come in.
“ Hello Mr Smith, Miss Miller," he greeted as he asked us to sit down.
“ You're here again," he said,
“ Yeah, did she say anything after we left?” she asked and the officer chuckled,
“ We've been trying to get that woman to speak, what makes you think she'll suddenly decide to speak? She's a very hard headed woman," the officer said and my boss sighed.
" I can't believe this is happening, I expected so much more on this trip but I'll be going back to Las Vegas without anything," she said as she rubbed her face in frustration,
“ She's definitely going to speak one of these days,” the officer said,
When? Twenty years later?
“ Well, thank you officer, I thought perhaps we could get even a little information but it's the same as yesterday," she said as she stood up and I did the same,
“ Thank you for your time, just give us…” I stopped what I was going to say when the officer's door suddenly burst open and another officer walked in, the look on his face was already a proof that whatever he was going to say would be bad news.
“ What is it, officer Ken?” the other officer asked as he stood up from his chair,
“ You're not going to like this,"
