Chapter 57- Her Frustration
ARIANA'S POV
I couldn't concentrate in the office no matter how hard I tried. I was currently sitting in the meeting room but I was only physically there but my mind was somewhere else, I couldn't hear a single thing they were saying.
I haven't found the emerald eye and now I was looking for my grandpa, I just felt like disappearing for some time.
Was this what my grandpa warned me about? That the challenges would come but how I'm able to deal with them matters, it's going to show if I'm weak or strong.
Right now I didn't feel like I was strong, I felt weak, but my grandpa said I should be strong and prepared for the challenges that would come.
“ Miss Miller, Miss Miller," I heard my assistant calling me, bringing me out of my thoughts.
“ What do you think about this?" The person presenting asked and I looked on the screen at the jewelry design that was being displayed. I swear I didn't get a single word she said.
“ It's good but it just needs more work and then we can say the work is done," I gave a neutral answer not wanting them to know I wasn't listening.
“ Okay ma'am," The presenter said with a smile.
" That would be all, any other thing would be discussed in our next meeting,” I said as I stood up and they all did the same as I walked out of the meeting room with my assistant following behind me.
We walked into the elevator and he pressed the button for our floor as silence filled the elevator.
The elevator finally reached our floor and I stepped out of the elevator but instead of walking to my office I turned to my assistant.
“ Have you heard anything from the hotel security?" I asked.
" They sent me the footage but with what happened last night I haven't had time to watch it, I'll watch and report back to you,” he said and I nodded before walking to my office.
I opened my office door and walked in and I couldn't help but release the breath I didn't know I was holding, it was like being with people felt like they were judging me. Even though they didn't know what was going on.
It's like they were telling me all the bad things happening was because of me.
What if they took my grandpa because he made me the CEO and they were all against him.
I walked to my chair as I took off my jacket and then sat down with a sigh.
I had work to do and I know that I was distracted but I had to try to set my mind straight, if not for anything, but for my grandpa's sake.
He worked so hard for this company to be where it is today so what I should be doing is keep fighting no matter what happens, no matter the situation.
With that in mind I got to work even though my body was telling me to crawl in bed, my coping mechanism when I was a kid but I'm not a kid anymore, I'm an adult and I need to grow a bone.
I got so lost in my work that I forgot all about my problems.
I was interrupted by the ringing of my phone as I looked at the phone hoping that whoever was calling had good news about my grandpa or the emerald eye.
I released a breath before I took my phone and picked the call.
“ Hello," I said.
“ Miss Miller, this is inspector Jack," must be the police officer.
“ I figured out you'd be the best person to report to about your grandfather's disappearance," he said.
“ Yes, thank you, have you got any news?" I asked.
“ This is more of an update than the type of news you would want to hear," he said, which meant they didn't have any information about my grandpa.
“ Okay what information do you have or update like you said?" I asked.
“ So the thing is that we checked the CCTV footages from that day and it looked like someone tampered with the clips, there is no single footage available from that day, I mean from in the morning till after the party, everything was wiped off,” he said and I couldn't help but scrunch my brows.
“How is that possible? Our house is heavily guarded,” I said as I stood up from my chair and walked to the window as I looked down.
" That's what we're still trying to find out, because it might just turn out that someone in that mansion is behind this and it means you all have to be careful,” he said.
“ Thank you officer, please keep me updated, and one more thing, please keep the progress from my mom she isn't feeling too well to deal with everything that is happening, just report to me, I'll tell them what they need to know," I said.
“ Alright Miss Miller. I just wanna ask you a quick question, is there anyone you suspect?” He asked.
Uncle Garry. But what if I'm wrong? I don't see why he would want to kidnap grandpa, could he do something like that?
“ There are a lot of people who do not like the fact that my grandpa made me the CEO, for all I know one of them might have taken him but I can't make assumptions and I can't give a name,” I said although my mind was just trying to spit out uncle Garry’s name out of my mouth.
“ Okay Miss Miller, thank you for your time, as soon as you find anything out of the ordinary, just call me," he said and I nodded but I realized he couldn't see me.
“ Yeah, I'll tell you, thank you, have a lovely day," I said before I ended the call.
In the end, nobody knew where grandpa was.
Be strong Ariana, you have to be strong for your mom and grandpa.
I just stood at the window as I looked into nothingness.
A knock suddenly came on the door and I turned as the door pushed open but the person standing there wasn't someone I wanted to see, today, tomorrow or ever.
“ What are you doing here?"
