Chapter 84- Arrested
I remember everything that happened in the elevator and after the elevator, I got drunk and I called him. Fuck.
I just can't imagine what I would have said to him.
“ Miss Miller, are you okay? The elevator door is still open," Hardin said, bringing me out of my thoughts.
“ Yeah, I'm fine,” I said.
" You don't have to worry about the elevator stopping, I made sure it was thoroughly checked so we wouldn't have such a problem again,” he said and I nodded.
As much as I was worried about the experience of last night, that wasn't the bigger problem.
The bigger problem was we kissed and the biggest problem is that I called him last night and I can't remember what the fuck I said to him. Should I ask him?
No. That would be so stupid.
‘ Play with me’
‘ Kiss me’
Was that what I said to him? Was that why I kept hearing that?
Now I need more painkillers.
I took a deep breath before I got into the elevator as my assistant entered too and then he pressed the button for our floor.
The elevator ride was quiet and I couldn't help but bite the inside of my cheek.
We kissed last night in the elevator and then something else happened, was the kiss the reason I got drunk?
Why the hell do I have a brain that always forgets things? Just yesterday Harrison was telling me things about myself that I couldn't remember, not even a little detail.
“ Is there something you'd like to ask me?" My assistant suddenly asked as I turned to him. His lips, those lips kissed me last night.
I should ask him what I said, I wouldn't sound stupid.
“ No, nothing, do you think there is?" I asked and he just shrugged.
There is definitely something, I must have said a lot of rubbish. Suddenly I didn't even want to remember.
The elevator door finally opened and I felt like I could finally breathe as I released the breath I didn't know I was holding.
I quickly walked out of the elevator as I walked to my office.
As soon as I was in the comfort of my office I closed the door as I placed my hand on my beating heart and rested my back on the door.
I knew I couldn't avoid him and I didn't even know what to do about it.
With a sigh I walked to my table as I kept my bag and sat down on my chair. I did a quick prayer hoping that everything would be taken care of as soon as possible.
Now wasn't the time to be doing anything funny or having foolish thoughts. There were bigger things to take care of like finding out who wanted to kill me or who took my grandpa and not to forget I still don't know where the emerald eye was.
So now was definitely not the time.
I rid myself of any thoughts that didn't have to do with important matters as I got to work.

HARDIN'S POV
She didn't remember what she said to me last night and I think it was better that way. She already looked like she wanted to disappear because she remembered calling me. I can't imagine how she would feel when she recalls all she said to me.
I got settled in before I took my tab to go read her schedule to her.
I knocked on her door and I heard her telling me to come in.
“ Good morning once again Miss Miller, I bring you your schedule for the day," I said and she nodded without taking her eyes off her computer screen.
“ So we have the final meeting for the show coming up, and you have to get a dress for the fashion show this weekend, you're having lunch with Mrs Shawn, she's one of…oops sorry, you know,” I quickly corrected myself when she narrowed her eyes on me, of course she knows all the clients and partners especially those who are closest to the Miller.
Correction taken.
“ Lastly, you have to take your mom out to dinner,” I said.
“ Okay, thank you Hardin," she said and I nodded before walking out of her office.
I walked to my office as I began my day, checking my mails and replying to the ones that needed immediate attention, there were so many of them.
I checked my wristwatch to see it was almost time for our first meeting. I quickly wrapped up what I was doing but just as I was about to stand up, my phone started ringing.
I picked my phone to see it was a call from my private investigator.
“ Hey man," I greeted as I waited with held breath hoping that whatever he's going to tell me would be good news.
“ I have news," okay that was good, that was a start.
" Okay, I'm listening,” I said as I felt my heart begin to pound in my chest.
“ Concerning the jewelry that was stolen, you remember I told you we found who was responsible for stealing it?" He asked and I nodded but I quickly realized he couldn't see me.
“ Yes, what about it?" I asked, this man was doing this on purpose, instead of going straight to the point he's just beating around the bush.
“ So I got a call this morning from the authorities in Chicago. She has been arrested,”
