Chapter 108- Mesmerized
That was a shitty ass dream, now I was seeing her in my dream as if she wasn't tormenting me enough physically, she somehow found her way into my dream.
I groaned as I got up from bed and walked out of the room as I headed downstairs.
As soon as I reached the last step laughter filled my ears and I couldn't help but smile. This was my family, my perfect family.
“ Hardin, when did you get here?" Jess asked and I chuckled remembering how she looked this morning.
“ When you were walking like a zombie,” I said and the others laughed. They knew what I was talking about.
“ You guys were pretty wasted," I said,
“ And you were pretty tired, you've been sleeping the whole day," Mark said and I sighed as I took a seat.
“ Of course he's going to be tired he's the assistant to the CEO so whatever cross the CEO bears he carries it along with her," Jess said,
" So how has it been at work?” Mark asked,
" We've been managing fine, what can I say?” I said with a shrug.
" Where's Vera?” I asked,
" She got a call and left earlier,” Jess said,
" Oh okay," Jess served me the pizza that was ordered and I thanked her as I immediately started digging into it.
My friends were pretty lazy when it came to cooking, I was the chef of the family.
When I was done eating I thanked her as I walked outside the house to get the clothes I'll be wearing to the show from the car then I walked back into the house.
“ Looks like you're going out?" Ronny asked and I nodded as I climbed up the stairs and back to the room I came from.
I felt good at our progress. We were once orphaned kids staying at an orphanage and then when we left the orphan we all shared a small house but now we all have our houses and it makes me feel proud.
I walked to the bathroom as I removed the clothes I had on and walked under the shower and turned the water on, then I closed my eyes in bliss as the cold water ran down my body.
When I was done I walked out of the shower as I took a towel and dried my body then I walked out of the bathroom to get dressed.
“ Jeez, man don't scare me like that," I said to Ronny who was just sitting on the bed looking lost in thought, he scared the shit out of me.
" I thought you were a big bad guy and big bad guys like you don't get scared,” he said with a deep laugh and I just rolled my eyes.
I took a dryer and started drying my hair. We were going somewhere special and I needed to represent the Miller's Cooperation well, it's not like there isn't a time I don't look good.
Nobody needs to tell me that, I know I look good.
“ What do you want, Ronny? Are you going to sit there and watch me dress?" I asked as I turned to him then I pinned my hair to put it in place.
“ Vera told me," he said and I stopped what I was doing and turned my full attention to him.
“ What did she tell you?" I asked,
“You should know," he said, no I don't. I tell my best friend a lot of things and not all of them go to other people's ears. So I don't know which one she decided to tell him.
“ I don't know what she told you," I said,
“ Stop playing dumb, it's about Claudia," he said and I clenched my fists in frustration. I've been trying to forget that name since last night.
“ I don't wanna talk about her," I said as I removed the pin and started applying my hair products before I combed the hair, styling it to go all back.
“ I know you don't wanna talk about her but I'm just here to tell you that, man if you see her, run away from her as fast as you can, we both know the power that woman had over you and I know you, with a few tears and pleas from her your heart is going to go all soft," he said and I scoffed,
“ I'm not that stupid," I said,
“ Not all the time, but you can be sometimes," he said and I turned to him with a glare,
“ What's your deal really?" I asked him.
“ For you not to get hurt, we're all worried about you and that woman's sudden appearance in your life doesn't sit well with any of us, so for the good of everyone stay away from her," he said,
Why was everyone warning me, have they seen her?
“ Well, I'm going to leave you to get dressed I'm not in the mood to see your ass," he said and I couldn't help but chuckle.
“ Fuck off,” I said as he stood up from the bed.
" Just don't go giving your heart to anyone, because it would ruin you,” he said and before I could give him any response he was already out the door.
Asshole.
He just cares about you. That noisy voice in my head said but I pushed it down.
By the time I was done dressing I felt like a star. I looked at myself in the mirror and was satisfied with my look before I walked out of the room.
“ Oh my God, look who's going to stop hearts," Mark said a little too dramatically and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
“ You should know Hardin is a handsome man if he wanted to he would have made it on the cover of any magazine he wants," Jess said,
Leave it to my friends to flatter you to the moon and back.
“ I'm not going to make it out here if I continue listening to your flattery, I've gotta go," I said as I kissed Jess on the cheeks before running off.
“ Don't I get a kiss?!" Ronny asked as they all burst out laughing.
I got into my car as I drove out of the house heading to the Miller's mansion.
When I got there I parked the car and stepped out as I walked into the house.
“ Welcome sir, Miss Miller said she'll be down in a few minutes, she asked that you give her a little time," the maid said and I nodded as I waited.
I was already prepared to wait, women take forever to get ready.
After about twenty minutes of waiting I finally heard the clicking of heels so I slowly turned and when I saw the sight in front of me I felt like my breath was knocked out of me.
My jaw dropped.
