Chapter 52- The Hard Decision
After taking care of everything concerning Mr. Miller's birthday I got a taxi and went back home.
As soon as I got into my house I removed my shoes as I walked into my bedroom then I brought out my phone to call the hotel we stayed in in Paris if they've got any information. They still told me they were on it just like when I called this morning.
What was taking them so long to do? Just get the footage and send it to me, was that so hard for them to do?
I sigh as I threw my phone on the bed and ran my fingers through my hair in frustration. This couldn't get out, I would be in serious trouble.
This has never happened to us before, that one of our important pieces got missing. It's unheard of and I totally understand arrogant Ariana's frustration but that didn't give her the right to disrespect me.
My phone vibrated and I quickly picked it up thinking it must be a message from the hotel security but when I looked it was just one of my flints asking if we could hangout.
That was the least of my problems and I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone.
I stood up from bed as I grudgingly walked to the kitchen. Being hungry and frustrated wasn't a good combination.
I brought out all the ingredients for the pancake and started mixing.
In no time I was done and ready to have my breakfast with a cup of coffee.
I was just on the second bite when my phone started ringing and I picked it up to see it was a call from arrogant Ariana.
What did she want this time? I called her several times but she didn't pick and now she's calling me, what for?
I looked at my screen contemplating if I wanted to pick the call or not.
The phone kept ringing and just when I was about to pick up the phone, the call ended.
I ignored the phone as I focused on my food but the phone started ringing again. I grudgingly picked the phone as I picked the call.
“ Miss Miller," I said.
“ Why the fuck would you leave without seeing me?!" She shouted and I had to remove my phone from my ear and just stare at it.
I decided to put it on speaker before the woman ruined my ear.
“ You didn't seem like you wanted me anywhere near you Miss Miller," I said as calmly as I could.
“ So you know how you repulse me? I'm glad you know that," She said and instead of giving her any response I just continued eating my pancake.
“ Miss Miller, why did you call me?” I asked because I wasn't in the mood to deal with her shenanigans, I couldn't deal with her right now.
“ Have you found any information concerning the emerald eye?" she whispered. Oh suddenly she knows how to talk low.
“ Nothing yet, I called the hotel and they told me they're still on it,” I said as I heard her sigh.
" This is so fucking frustrating and it's all your fault,” she said in anger.
" Miss Miller I'll…" I heard the call end and I looked at the screen with a shake of my head before I dropped the phone back on the table and continued eating.
My front door opened and I knew that it was none other than Vera. I didn't know she was coming so early. Now I knew that I wouldn't enjoy this food in peace because once she sees this pancake the plate is already empty.
She was a sucker for pancakes especially when I made them.
“ Owww, you're having pancakes," she said in an overly cheery voice before she ran to where I was. I didn't need to fight, she already won.
She took the plate of pancakes leaving the coffee for me before she made herself comfortable and started eating and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
She's so dramatic.
When she was done eating she finally had my time.
“ So have you heard anything from the security?" She asked as she took my empty cup and the plate to the kitchen sink to wash them.
“ They said they'll get back to me. Everything is just frustrating and my boss isn't making this any less stressful, she keeps yelling and pointing fingers at me like this is all my fault,”
“ I still can't believe she'll accuse you of stealing, that's wrong, why would she think you would want to steal from her? She's beginning to get on my nerves whether she's the boss or not,” she said with a frown as she wiped her hands with a towel before walking to me.
" But seriously Hardin don't you think it's better you tell Mr Miller about the missing jewelry,” She said but I shook my head.
" No, he's going to be so disappointed,” I said.
" But think about it, what if somehow he finds out about it, which would make him more disappointed? That you kept it from him or that it was missing?” She asked and I sighed, running my fingers through my hair.
" I don't know Vera, I really don't know what to do, I'm confused because I've never been faced with this type of a situation,” I said.
" I know Hardin, but what can we do? We just have to think of a way to get out of this,” she said as she squeezed my hand in support.
" That jewelry is worth a fortune Vee, I'd give all I have to pay for it," I said.
“ Chill, nobody is asking you to pay for anything, we'll find it and I want you to remember that this isn't your fault,” She said before she wrapped her arms around me in a hug.
“ I've never felt so confused, I feel like I'm doing this to myself, should I just come clean and tell him what happened? I don't know, my head is aching thinking about it so much," I said as I hugged her tightly enjoying the feeling of her fingers that were running through my hair
Should I tell Mr. Miller? I really didn't know if that would save me or put me in more trouble.
This was so hard.
