Chapter 17- The Enemy

He quickly turned as he looked at me like a ghost.

“ Miss Miller, do you need me to do something for you?" He asked.

“ Were you talking about me? That I'm infuriating and annoying?” I asked again.

“ You, of course not, I'm talking about my new girlfriend, she just annoys me all the time," he said like he expected me to believe him.

“ Hmm," I simply hummed as I folded my hands looking at him.

I don't care if he was talking about me or not but what I do care about is that he should pick up my damn call whenever I call him.

“ Mr. Smith, you're in the office to work not complain about your failing relationship," Let's pretend I believe him.

" I called you several times but you won't pick my calls, I need you to get the document concerning the sapphire distribution to me, they're in my car,” I said.

“ Okay, I'll get it for you," He said as I looked at him one more time before walking out of his office.

I went to my office and sat down as I think back to all I heard him say, I'm a hundred and ninety nine percent sure he was talking about me, not some girlfriend.

He thought I was annoying and infuriating, well, I'm glad we were on the same page.

If he thought that was all I had coming for him, he was dreaming.

Some minutes later, I heard a knock on my door and I knew it was him so I asked him to come in. My eyes were on my computer screen as I busied myself with work but I didn't hear any document drop.

“ Mr. Smith just drop the document and go, I'm busy,” I said without taking my eyes off the screen.

" Just came to see how you were doing as the new CEO,” That bastard.

" Well, as you can see I'm doing just fine and I'm busy,” I said without taking my eyes off my computer screen, he didn't deserve my attention and time.

" I see,” He said with a hum.

" Uncle Garry, as you can see I'm very busy and have a lot of things to do," I said, finally taking my eyes up to look at him.

“ Enjoy while you still can, my dear, the wild waves are coming and your boat might just sink," he said with a smile.

“ Please leave my office, if you don't have things to do, as you can see, I do,” I said as I saw him clench his jaw. I didn't ask him to come here, he came here knowing I didn't like him one bit.

Especially since he might be threatening my mother and might just be my fathers murder.

“ Your mouth is going to get you in…” A knock came on my door and I knew this time that it was my assistant.

" Come in Mr. Smith,” I said before the door opened and he walked in.

He turned to uncle Garry and looked at him with a snare before forcing a greeting out of his mouth. Well, for once we had one thing in common, we did not like Uncle Garry.

“ See you around dear niece," He said before he turned to look at my assistant then me and then with that sinister smile, he walked out leaving a cold atmosphere like he was a ghost or something.

He came to give me a warning.

He thought I was scared of him but what he didn't know was that I was born ready and I'll strike anyone who ventures to my territory unwelcomed.

I'll bring them down, just like I'll bring him down.

HARDIN'S POV

I dropped the document she asked for on her table as I looked at her face. She wasn't looking at me but I could see that she looked pissed.

I didn't like that man one bit, there had always been something suspicious about him and if I was wrong before, when the son of Mr. Miller died I became even more suspicious of him. It was supposed to be either him or Mrs Miller that was to be made CEO.

I'm sure that he isn't happy with Miss Miller being the CEO, men like him could be brutal when they want something and I have a feeling that soon enough there would be a battle.

“ Mr. Smith, is there something you want?" I heard arrogant Ariana ask, bringing me out of my thoughts.

I looked at her and she still had her eyes on her computer screen.

“ No, nothing," I said.

“ Then be gone from my office, get back to work," She said and I quietly took myself out of her office. If I didn't leave she would soon transfer aggression to me.

I was going through this week's report when I received an email from none other than arrogant Ariana.

She sent me a document to go through for her. I don't know why she keeps sending me things to get done when at the end of the day she was going to complain.

I sent her a reply to let her know I've seen it and would get into it. I stopped what I was doing before as I started going through the document.

It was a document containing all the expenses for our upcoming show here in Los Vegas. There were some things that needed adjustment that weren't necessary and I did that, we weren't here to waste money.

As much as we wanted to have a successful event, we didn't want to do too much.

When I was done with going over everything, I sent it back to her for her final approval.

The day went by in a blur and thankfully Miss Miller aka arrogant Ariana didn't get on my nerves today, she looked like she was deep in her thoughts but not like I was going to ask her what the problem was.

It was finally time to go home so I started packing my bag as I walked to her door to knock.

She didn't answer which was the usual, I tried again but still no answer. If I go home without telling this woman I was leaving or asking her if she needed something. I knew I was going to have hell rain down tomorrow.

I pushed the door open but immediately I regretted my action as I stood frozen on my spot.

Holy Moly!
