Chapter 91-The Fight

“ No, don't do it Hardin, don't even think about it, why the fuck do you look hopeful? Hardin if you see that woman anywhere near you run, I mean it because believe me I'm going to be doing something that you won't like, I promise you," she warned in anger.

“ I…I…I wasn't looking hopeful, I don't know what you're talking about," I denied,

“ Yeah, go ahead and deny it all you want, that woman still has you wrapped around her fingers after all these years, Jesus, Hardin, hasn't she caused you enough pain already? What more do you want? Until she kills you? Is that what you want? Hardin we both know…we both know how that woman treated you like trash, a woman who loves you would never leave you just because you don't have money, I want you to know it,” she said as she sniffed like she was about to cry.

I brought my hands to her shoulders but she pushed them away and walked away but she stopped and turned to me.

" I'm not going to be picking up the pieces for the hurt caused by the same woman, don't say I didn't warn you,” she said sternly,

“ Nobody is going to hurt me, Vee," I said.

" What if it turns out that she has been responsible for everything that has been happening to us?”

" Claudia would never do something like that,” I said,

" Oh really, she's a saint but she left you, what makes you think she wouldn't have been the one to send those notes to us?”

" Vera, can we stop talking about her, let's enjoy our dinner," I said, wanting to change the topic, the last thing I wanted was to fight with her.

“ I'm not hungry, I'll be in my room," she said before walking away.

“ Vera, Vee," she left.

I don't want to be in a fight with Vera, a fight with Vera was like I was missing a vital organ in me and when that organ is taken, I can't function well. It was frustrating.

What did she see in my face that made her conclude that I was hopeful about Claudia? Was I really hopeful that she has come to accept me back?

Suddenly, I lost my appetite, but I wasn't going to let my best friend go to bed hungry, that's not going to happen. With that, I served the pasta I made and then took a glass of cold orange. She likes it whenever her head is boiling so I took it to her room.

“ Vera,” I called as I knocked on her door,

“ Go away Hardin,"

“ I'm not going anywhere," I said from outside,

“ Leave me alone," she said,

“ Why would I leave you alone? You're my sweet sugar plum," I said as a smile took over my lips, I knew she was soon going to crack.

“ That's not going to work,” that means it going to work and it's already working,

I soon heard her footsteps as her door opened,

" What do you want?” She asked as she folded her hands glaring at me.

" Come on my fav, I just brought you something to eat,” I said,

" I'm not hungry,” she said as she go to close the door but I stopped it with my leg and pushed my way inside.

" I said I'm not hungry," she said again,

“ Can you stop being dramatic and come here," I said as I climbed on her bed,

" So I'm being dramatic, Claudia is a snake, whatever reason brought her back, it isn't a good reason, I know what I'm talking about,” she said with all seriousness,

" For God's sake Vera, you know how I hate talking about her, I hate it, so stop talking about her and come here,” I said in frustration, this was getting out of hand,

" I'm just worried about you Hardin,” she said as she finally walked to me and climbed on the bed,

“ I know you're worried about me but nothing is going to happen," I said,

“ Tell me if you see her anywhere near you, you're going to avoid her at all cost," she said,

“ Just as you have said," I said,

“ No, say it word for word," she said,

“ Okay fine, if I see her anywhere near me I'm going to avoid her at all cost, better?"

“ Definitely, now where's that pasta that smells good?" She asked and I couldn't help but chuckle,

I'm glad she calmed down, because an angry Vera wasn't easy to deal with.

But right now, my problem is how do I react if I eventually get to meet with Claudia?

ARIANA'S POV

As soon as Hardin dropped me, I decided to take a stroll to the garden. I needed to wash away all the negativity today brought and what better place than the garden.

I've been here thinking about everything that happened and it was still shocking, I can't tell my mom what happened because she would freak out and for Mrs Shawn, she already knew about that.

Having enough fresh air, I decided to go inside. I took my bag as I stood up from the bench I was sitting on and walked back towards the house.

“ Welcome home, Miss Miller," one of the maids said and I gave her a polite smile, she seemed surprised.

Yeah, a lot of things were changing in me and I knew it was all because of Hardin. People always see me as this arrogant woman who takes no bullshit, I am still that woman, nothing is going to change that, I only give my respect to people who deserve it.

“ Where's my Mom?" I asked,

“ She's in the kitchen the last I checked," she said,

“ Alright," I said before she walked away,

I walked to the kitchen but my Mom wasn't there like the maid said, but some maids were there.

“ Hello, Miss Miller," they greeted,

" Hello, please where's my Mom?” I asked,

" She was here with us but suddenly had a call so she went to take it and she hasn't come back,” One of them said,

" Oh, okay, I'll go look for her, do you know if she went to her room or outside?” I asked,

" I think she went outside,” she said,

" Alright, thanks," I said before walking away,

I walked out of the house as I looked around for my Mom.

" Mom, Mom,” I called but didn't get any response,

I was about to call her again but I stopped at the sight in front of me.
