Chapter 67- Her Grandfather's Secret

We walked out of the company as I opened the car door for my boss and she got in then I turned around to the driver's side and got in as I drove out of the company heading for the restaurant.

We stopped outside the restaurant as we both stepped out of the car and I handed the key to the valet to properly park the car.

“ You know you have to calm down, you look like a college student about to check her final exams, I don't want to joke about this but it's better you calm down," I said as she sighed before turning to me.

“ I'm trying to, but it's hard, is it that obvious that I'm anxious?” she asked.

“ Yeah, you're brave so don't let all this make you forget who you are," and arrogant too, I thought to myself but didn't dare say it out loud.

“ Okay, let's go hear what he has to say,” she said and I nodded before we both walked into the restaurant.

We were led to where our reservation was made and thankfully the officer was already waiting for us.

“ Hello officer Jack," My boss said.

" Miss Miller, Mr Smith,” the officer said as he stood up and shook hands with my boss and then he shook my hands.

I pulled the chair for my boss to sit down before I pulled a chair and sat down too.

“ What did you find?" My boss asked, going straight to the point.

“ So yesterday I and a few of my team searched Mr Miller's room hoping to find anything that might give us a clue of where he is or who might have taken him and we found this,” he said as he brought out an envelope.

She was about to take it from him but he pulled back and did a ‘no’ sign with his finger.

“ This is an evidence and it can't be touched," he said and that was when I noticed the gloves he was wearing.

“ Oh,” my boss simply said.

" Did you tell my Mom anything?” Ariana asked him and he shook his head.

" For her not to worry, I told her that we're getting somewhere and we would soon find him, which I know we will,” he said and she nodded.

The officer brought out a note and opened it then he pushed it to where my boss was seated so she could read it.

“ Make sure not to touch," he reminded her.

" Okay,”

ARIANA'S POV

For some reason I was scared of looking at the note that the officer pushed in front of me. Just what if I see something terrifying that I wouldn't be able to handle.

Something that means that I'll never see my grandfather again, no, I couldn't think that, the officer said that we were heading somewhere right?

Then why the fuck was I staring blanking at the note without actually reading it.

“ Miss Miller, are you going to read the note or just stare at it?” My assistant whispered, making me blink as I came out of my thoughts.

I looked at the note as I started reading what was written there.

‘ Your past will always find you no matter how you run or how old you get, you can't run from it. I warned you Phillip.’ the note read.

I turned to look at the officer in confusion, this didn't make sense to me.

“ What does this mean?" I asked.

“ That's not all," the officer said as he took the first one and then brought another one.

Once again he opened the note and pushed it to me.

‘ You are where you are because of my help and now that you're where you are you think you can cut me off Philip, I'll make you pay,’ the second note read.

“ There are more but I can't really show you all for some reason, but all the threat notes he got were from the same person, the handwriting is the same,” he said.

" If my grandpa has been receiving threat notes, why didn't he say anything? He knew his life was in danger but he kept it all to himself why? Who could have been sending him those messages?” I asked as I placed my head in my hands.

What did my grandpa do? The second note accused my grandpa of breaking a promise, what promise could that be. This was driving me nuts.

“ We can be able to find out who the person that wrote this note is but we need time and time is something that we do not have," the officer said and I nodded.

“ We don't because the more time we waste we don't know what might be happening to him, we don't know if he's still…” I stopped myself before I started crying.

“ It's okay Miss Miller, we'll definitely find him," the officer said and I nodded trying to calm myself down.

“ I was attacked last night,” I suddenly said.

" Attacked?” The officer asked and I nodded.

“ I would have died last night, they basically pushed me off the bridge in my car,”

" What?!" The officer asked in shock.

" Yeah, immediately I left work they followed me, it was a battle last night but I'm here thank God,” I said with a shrug.

“ Please I know this is hard for you but I need you to tell me everything according to how it happened so we can find out who these people are, for all we know they might be the same people that took your grandpa,” He said.

" Okay,” I said as I went ahead to narrate the horrifying experience I had last night.

“ We would look into it and make sure whoever those people are would be sent to prison where they belong," the officer said.

“ Thank you officer," I said.

“ I think I might have something that might help in getting those men," My assistant suddenly said. All these while he has been quiet as I and the officer talked.

“ What would that be Mr Smith?" The officer asked.

My assistant brought out his phone and then scrolled through it as his eyes looked at something in his phone before turning to the officer.

" This should help,”
