Chapter 11 Flash Marriage

Leona Pesarin, who was in the same office at the side, keenly sensed that something was wrong with Queenie and came to smooth things over with a smile.
"Alright, Macy, you've said so much without giving Queenie a chance to speak. Let's wait first, and then let Queenie tell us more carefully."
Leona, Macy, and Queenie were new teachers who entered the school in the same batch, and they got on well with each other.
Queenie gave her a grateful look.
Leona smiled lightly and held her hand. "Congratulations to you. But that's not what we were congratulating you on before."
Queenie was confused.
Leona explained with a smile, "We were talking about the district's public teaching competition last time. You won first place. Now, with online voting, you will definitely win the title of an outstanding teacher in this district."
Queenie looked at Leona in surprise. She thought she was not bad, but she was a little surprised to get first place in the overall score.
Soon, she remembered something and lowered her head shyly.
It turned out that Queenie had just misunderstood everyone.
Leona knew that she was a little slow on the uptake, so she nudged her elbow. "Hurry up and share with us about the proposal process."
"Come on! How romantic can that guy Pollard possibly be?" Macy scoffed as she nibbled on her chocolate.
"It's not him." Queenie's heart tugged painfully at the mention of Pollard. However, she tried to play it down and explained, "It was an arranged marriage by my family. It seemed suitable, so I just went ahead with it and had a flash marriage."
As soon as she finished speaking, the whole office fell silent.
Everyone knew that Queenie had been dating her fiancé for three years, who came from the renowned and prestigious Clancy family in Coast City.
Why did she change her mind now?
Could her new partner be as good as Pollard?
Could he be as rich and powerful as Pollard?
As everyone in attendance was savvy individuals, they were fully cognizant of the intricacies of high society, and their faces displayed varying degrees of discomfort.
"Hehe, flash marriage is good." Someone spoke up to break the silence.
"Yeah, this was arranged by her elders, and they know everything about it."
"He could afford this ring, so he must not be an ordinary person, right?"
"That's for sure! I don't know who is lucky enough to marry a beautiful woman like Ms. Lorente." A male colleague joked.
Queenie's appearance was the most outstanding among these teachers. When she first came, many unmarried male colleagues were asking about her. This male colleague was also among them.
However, later everyone heard that she had an unmarried fiancé, Pollard, who was from the Clancy family, one of the four major families in Coast City, and they dismissed their thoughts.
Queenie responded with a light smile, "He is just an ordinary person, and this ring is not worth much."
A melodious electronic bell rang, and most of the people present had classes, so they had no choice but to interrupt the topic, pick up their textbooks, and leave.
In an instant, only Queenie and Macy were left in the office, which saved Queenie from embarrassment to some extent.
Seeing that there was no one around, Macy quickly dragged Queenie to the balcony and asked directly, "What's going on? Why did you marry someone else!"
Queenie sighed helplessly before explaining the whole story.
After hearing that, Macy was so angry that she rolled up her sleeves and wanted to fight.
"What kind of people are your family? And Pollard's mother is so disgusting! She used to order you around and make you do lots of matters, buy things for her, and pick up someone! I originally thought she treated you like a daughter-in-law! How could she have such intentions?"
Mentioning all the things that Lilith used to order her around in the past, Queenie's face suddenly turned a shade less flattering, and her hatred towards Lilith grew stronger.
She had been dating Pollard for three years, and Lilith had never stopped ordering her around.
Some limited-edition bags needed to be queued up in person. And one could only buy them with his ID card, and Lilith also ordered her to go.
Sometimes Queenie would complain to Pollard when she queued for hours, which affected her lesson preparation.
Yet Pollard said that Lilith treated Queenie like a family member, so she shouldn't keep score among the family.
At that time, Queenie also thought so, so she didn't complain to Pollard anymore.
But now, she realized that Lilith was treating her like a fool!
Macy saw that Queenie's face didn't look good, so she patted her on the back and said sympathetically, "Why didn't you come to me after yesterday's incident? I would have helped you!"
Immediately, Macy sighed again. Now that the thing had happened, she could only comfort her.
"Never mind, Pollard's mother is not an easy person to deal with. Even if you marry Pollard, you may not have a good life. There's an idiom for this situation, but I can't remember it."
Upon hearing this, Queenie smiled and told her, "That's called 'A Blessing in Disguise.'"
"Okay, okay, you're an English teacher who has won awards. I'm just a sports teacher who can't compete with you. Anyway, that is what I want to say."
"If I were your English teacher, you would really drive me crazy." Queenie glared at Macy.
Macy returned her gaze and comforted her. "You have always wanted to leave that family. Now that you have moved your household registration, they can no longer use it to threaten you and force you to do something you don't want to do. As your close friend, I hope this is a good start for you."
Macy held her hand and said firmly, "If Mr. Clancy is not good to you, remember to tell me. I am the 18th-generation inheritor of the Willot family's martial arts! I can protect you!"
"Okay." Queenie smiled wryly. "For now, he seems to be treating me well."
The voice fell, and Queenie's cell phone rang.
After answering, May Wilson's voice came over.
"Ms. Lorente, please come to my office."
"Okay."
As soon as Queenie hung up the phone, Macy urged her excitedly. "Hurry up! It must be about your award! This is amazing!
"Our school has never had a new teacher who has worked for only a year and won an award in the district before!
"In the past, awards were only given to experienced teachers. You are helping us, new teachers, to gain face! And if we can hold onto first place in the district this time, you can compete in the city!"
Macy excitedly pushed Queenie out of the balcony and seemed to see a dark shadow slip away from the corner of her eyes.
Seeing her stunned, Queenie asked, "What's wrong?"
Macy frowned, feeling a little strange in her heart, but did not elaborate. "I just thought I saw someone. I must have been mistaken. Go quickly."
Queenie nodded, with a rare joy on her face, and walked towards the director's office.
Before she could even exchange greetings, May spoke with a cold face.
"A parent in your class has anonymously filed a complaint against you."
"Against me?" Queenie was stunned, her smile fading from her face.
Just as she had been full of anticipation a moment ago, now she was filled with shock.
"Yes. Sit down. I want to talk to you about this." With that, May took a printed sheet of paper from the printer and handed it to Queenie.
Queenie received the paper in a daze, thinking about how responsible and dedicated she was to her students. What could these parents possibly complain about?
