Chapter 74 Mr. Clancy is Afraid of His Wife
Seeing the two brothers being defeated, Benoit's smirk widened.
"When it comes to marriage, I can't help but say a few words to advise you not to get married."
"Why?" Shipley asked bluntly.
Simms frowned, realizing that he couldn't stop it anymore.
Benoit looked helpless and said, "The only benefit of marriage is probably coming home to a hot soup, having a warm and soft body to hold at night, having someone to watch movies with when bored, being able to go on dates on holidays, not being pestered to get married by others at the end of the year, and not being ridiculed as a single dog."
Shipley said, "Damn, that's so sour! It hurts my teeth."
He thought to himself, “Is that the only benefit? Didn't he just mention several?”
"But taking care of a woman is also troublesome. You have to protect her everywhere, and you can't say anything harsh. If you do, you'll have to make it up to her afterwards. And if you spoil her, it's easy for her to take advantage of you and act superior."
Thinking of how Queenie kicked him, Benoit's mouth curled up in delight.
He thought his wife kicking him was cute, and it unlocked new interesting aspects of his wife.
Shipley was speechless.
He felt like he just ate a mouthful of dog food.
Simms couldn't stand Benoit's smugness and bluntly asked, "Benoit, do you dare say this in front of your wife?"
Benoit choked for a moment.
Shipley couldn't believe it and looked at him, "Are you afraid of your wife?"
"This is not fear. It's respect." After a brief awkwardness, Benoit composed himself and continued.
Shipley shivered, questioning his life choices.
Mr. Clancy was known as a ruthless person in Coast City!
How did he turn out like this after getting married?
Shipley sighed and patted Simms on the shoulder, "Simms, maybe you shouldn't get married. I won’t be able to handle it if you turn out like this."
Simms smirked contemptuously. "Don't worry, I won't."
Benoit raised an eyebrow at him. "Are you sure?"
"Very sure," Simms replied.
"Well then, I'll wait and see!" Benoit smiled and then added, "Besides, who knows how long it'll take for you to find a girlfriend. For now, you can keep talking tough."
Simms took a sip of tea, unflinchingly retorting. "True. For now, you can keep laughing."
Simms said, "There are still two months until the Lunar New Year. Even if you keep trying to stop her, Pollard will probably come back for the New Year. Are you sure you'll still be able to laugh then?"
Benoit's expression suddenly turned dark.
"Oh, let me remind you. Barbara Clancy is coming back. Once she's back, do you really think Pollard won't find out that you married his fiancée?"
"How do you know Barbara Clancy's whereabouts?" Benoit furrowed his brows.
"My people are keeping an eye on her."
Simms didn't mean to hide anything.
Upon hearing this, Benoit's expression turned pitch black.
Shipley glanced at Benoit, then at Simms, and silently stuffed a few shrimp dumplings into his mouth.
After this satisfying meal, he wouldn't need to eat lunch.
When two big shots fought, he didn't want to get involved.
...
On the other side, at the school
Just as Ella left, Ms. Wilson May walked into the office.
She put on a fake smile and looked at everyone. "Let me announce some good news. Ms. Lorente represented the school in the city's Outstanding Teachers Competition and achieved first place."
With that, May led the applause.
The other teachers in the office also applauded.
"Ms. Lorente, congratulations!"
"Congrats, Ms. Lorente!"
Queenie stood up and graciously accepted everyone's congratulations.
May continued, "So, after Ella's departure, the Department of Education has decided that Ms. Lorente will become the Head of the English Department, and we hope she will work hard to improve the English grades of all fourth-grade students."
"Ms. Wilson, I will do my best," Queenie responded confidently.
"Well, do your best!" May patted Queenie's arm as she left gracefully.
Once May was gone, the teachers in the office couldn't help but speak up.
