"If it wasn't for my poverty and this strange illness, our family wouldn't be in this state!" Mr. Arthur wailed.
Emily's brother looked at Pollard in agony and said, "Some time ago, someone crashed into the pigsty. We don't know who it was, as our village doesn't have any security cameras installed. The car drove off after the crash. The pigsty was damaged, and the pigs escaped. Some villagers secretly took them away and refused to admit that they were our pigs."
Before Emily's brother could finish speaking, Emily's mother started wailing as well.

Pollard, seeing the poverty of this family, couldn't help but feel sympathetic.

The whole family huddled together, crying inconsolably.
Pollard was moved by the scene before him. "Uncle, Auntie, neither of you need to sell your kidneys. I'll lend you the money."
Emily's mother was taken aback. "You'll help us? Including my husband's medical expenses and repairing the pigsty, it would be 800,000 yuan!"
Pollard nodded dismissively.
Emily's brother stood up excitedly and knelt down in front of Pollard.

"Queenie sued my mom, and the police took her away," Pollard said, feeling embarrassed.
Brandon paused and asked, "Why did Queenie sue your mom?"

"You came back?" Brandon was stunned. "So where are you now?"
"I'm at Emily's house in the countryside," Pollard replied truthfully.
"Pollard? You saw your mom being taken away, and you didn't do anything? And without even understanding what happened, you followed Emily to the countryside?" Brandon's voice showed his astonishment.
"Dad, something happened at Emily's house!" Pollard interrupted his father, feeling a bit angry.
He was frustrated that Queenie didn't understand him, and now his father didn't understand him either.
Brandon's tone raised a few decibels. "But our family is in trouble too! Your mom was taken away by the police."
Pollard choked once again, unable to find the words to reply.
"I'm going to check on your mom's situation now. You get back here as soon as possible!" Brandon ended the call abruptly.
Pollard stood up, planning to return to Coast City, but Emily's brother came over with a bottle of wine and stopped him.
