Chapter 112 Do You Like Me Now?
Benoit let out a sigh. "Is that the only thing? Nothing else?"
Queenie was dumbfounded, her voice raising a few notches. "What else could there be? This is already terrible enough. You wanted a child so badly..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Benoit interrupted with a slightly harsh tone, "Who said that?"
He would kill that person!
It would affect their private world!
"You said it!" Queenie looked at Benoit in disbelief. "Just a few days ago, you said you liked children."
Benoit choked for a moment, with an unnatural expression as he touched his nose. "I... I lied to you."
For a moment, Queenie couldn't tell if he was telling the truth or not.
"I don't really like children. I think they're noisy and annoying. And having children would interfere with our time together!"
"So it's true... you really don't mind that I can't have children. You don't care?" Queenie asked, her voice full of surprise.
"Not at all," Benoit shrugged. "I didn't marry you for the purpose of having children."
Hearing his words, Queenie couldn't help but believe him, despite his exasperated expression. "So... you truly don't mind? You're okay with it?"
Benoit embraced Queenie tenderly, comforting her. "I don't want you to constantly second-guess my thoughts. As a married couple, we should communicate and share everything with each other."
Queenie held onto Benoit tightly, letting out a sigh of relief, grateful for his kindness. "You treat me so well. I promise I will treat you well in return."
Rubbing her head gently, Benoit replied, "You are my wife. Who else would I treat well if not you? Queenie, I didn't lie to you. I genuinely wanted to pursue you. I believe that a married couple should spend their lifetime together and be in love. If you didn't love me and still had to spend a lifetime with me, it would be exhausting, wouldn't it?"
Queenie's heart fluttered, surprised by his words. "So, you pursued me for that reason?"
"Why else?" Benoit asked. "Queenie, I hope you love me. I want to enter your heart." He patted her back gently and asked, "So, do I have a place in your heart now?"
Queenie's face tensed, and she nodded. "A little."
In reality, it was more than just a little, but she couldn't bring herself to answer directly when he asked.
Benoit teased, "Just a little?"
Queenie chuckled. "Well, you did save me today and said all these things. That definitely earns you extra points. But then you lied and said you liked children and wanted to have them. That deducts ten points, for sure!"
They continued to chat for a while before Benoit gently rubbed her head and said, "Alright, you should rest early. I promised you that I won't come to bed until I win you over."
Quickly seizing the opportunity, Queenie held onto his hand, her head low. "Tonight, make an exception... Stay with me tonight, I'm scared."
"Alright, I'll listen to my wife," Benoit said, a faint smile playing on his lips.
He left that moment as a mere gesture and swiftly pulled back the blanket, lying down in bed.
Queenie also lay down, holding onto Benoit's warm body. She said softly, "I still want a child."
"Mmm, whatever you want. If you want to try and have a child, we'll work towards it. If you don't want to, we won't," Benoit assured her.
Queenie thought about Benoit's vast wealth and remembered Ms. Wilson, the sixth-grade teacher at the school who had divorced. She raised her head from his embrace and asked, "But if we really don't have children, who will inherit your property?"
"Let's donate it to society," Benoit responded nonchalantly. "After all, we can't take these possessions with us."
Queenie was shocked by his answer, her eyes filled with surprise. She hadn't expected such a response!
After a moment of silence, Queenie made up her mind to talk to Benoit.
She said, "Darling, I was thinking of asking you for some help."
"Help with what?"
"Well, I can't keep being chased and bullied by Gilda and Lilith. I want to fight back using your influence. So, I need people to help me gather evidence against them..."
"Alright." Benoit chuckled lightly, affectionately rubbing Queenie's head. "Queenie, you've finally grown up. I support you, so go ahead and do what you want! Even if the sky falls down, your husband will hold it up for you."
