Chapter 131 Feel Better

Feeling a bit tired, Queenie didn't answer but instead said, "Let's go eat. I'm hungry."

"Okay," Benoit nodded and led her to a private room in the Linjiang Hotel. After the waiter served the dishes, Queenie took a few bites to fill her stomach before taking a deep breath.

"You asked me if I'm feeling sad," Queenie said.

Benoit's gaze fell on her face upon hearing this.

"I do feel upset," Queenie smiled, feeling the wound in her heart being slightly torn apart. "After all, we were together for three years, so there are still some emotions. It's hard to say that I'm completely unaffected by his treatment of me."

Benoit's eyes darkened slightly, and he nodded understandingly.

In the next moment, Queenie touched his hand and her mouth curved into a slightly relieved smile. "But because of this, I am even more grateful to have met you."

Benoit suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with surprise. "What did you say?"

"I said I do feel sad, but there is more disappointment and gratitude. I'm glad I didn't end up with Pollard. We weren't suitable for each other. Even if our values aligned, I would probably be driven mad by that little junior sister."

Benoit couldn't help but grin. "Don't worry, I don't have any younger martial sisters around. Besides Kate, you're the only woman around me."

Queenie nodded and asked curiously, "What do you think of Pollard's actions today?"

Benoit returned the gesture and held Queenie's hand on top of his, gently rubbing it twice. "Do you think my answer would be appropriate?"

"Go ahead and tell me."

"I didn't spend as much time with Pollard as I did with Barbara in the past. These nephews and nieces are afraid of me, but Pollard is the one who's the most afraid. Pollard and I have a distant relationship, so I don't know him very well. But today, the way he handled things surprised me. He lacked a sense of propriety."

The phrase "sense of propriety" hit Queenie's heart, and she nodded, signaling Benoit to continue.

"Without asking what happened, he simply demanded that you compromise and tolerate. This shows that he didn't prioritize your feelings. From my perspective, he doesn't know that we're married and doesn't acknowledge that you two have broken up. That means, in his world, you two are still together. Bringing back a little junior sister without officially ending your relationship is inappropriate and disrespectful to you. Moreover, excessively involving oneself in the affairs of other women means he has no sense of boundaries."

Benoit continued speaking while observing Queenie's expression. Seeing that she didn't deny his words, he continued.

"Additionally, based on my observations, I feel that Pollard cares about this little junior sister excessively. When you asked him to stay, he didn't. But today, even when his mother was arrested, he immediately went to handle the junior sister's matters. If it's not because he's so infatuated with the junior sister that he doesn't even realize it himself, then it's because he has trouble distinguishing between what's important and urgent, between family matters and matters outside of the family. Such a person may be a good person, but marrying him would be exhausting."

Queenie nodded thoughtfully.

There was some truth in what Benoit had said.

Pollard had actually abandoned his own mother and gone to take care of his junior sister.

Queenie picked up her chopsticks and reached for the pickled bamboo shoots.

In the next moment, Benoit's hands with distinct knuckles picked up the pickled bamboo shoots and placed them in front of her. He then took out his phone and clicked a photo.

The angle of this photo was quite unique.

It captured Queenie's clothes clearly, but not her face, with his own hand in the frame.

These were standard manly hands, indicating the presence of a man at the scene.

After taking the photo, Queenie felt a bit stunned. She saw Benoit sending it to Pollard through WhatsApp.

"Queenie is feeling sad, so I took her out to eat and console her. I know this should have been something her boyfriend should do, but what can I do? There's no one around her who can comfort her," Benoit wrote in the message.

Seeing the message that Benoit was editing, Queenie was astonished!

Wait... Weren't these the exact words that Pollard just said to her?

So, because she didn't have a boyfriend, Benoit had to step in?

Was this his way of fighting back?

She started to feel a little exhilarated. What was going on?
