Chapter 56: Dream Lover
Queenie was completely stunned, never expecting Benoit to answer like that. His response was spot on, like her dream lover! She questioned herself, if Benoit could really do all of these things, he would be far superior to Pollard.
Macy had even joked that Pollard would probably still be on an archaeological dig when she gave birth. After thinking for a moment, Queenie didn't hold back in her response, "I give full marks. Now Mr. Clancy, would you like can ask me a question?"
Benoit smiled and said, "The same question, the same question as Miss Lorente."
Queenie was taken aback, realizing that Benoit was being "cunning" as well. But since he had already answered, she thought for a moment and decided to respond seriously. "I want to find someone... completely different from my father."
Benoit paused in surprise at her words. Queenie smirked and laughed self-deprecatingly, "I have also discussed this topic with my best friend and came up with this answer. My father is very domineering, concerned about saving face, and constantly berates my mother and me.
From childhood to adulthood, it was always our fault and he was never wrong. I want to find someone who won't scold me, who will respect me, and someone who, when something happens, won't immediately blame me. I hope that when I fall down, my husband will ask if I'm hurt rather than immediately scold me for not walking properly. I want someone who will listen to my thoughts, respect my opinions, rather than constantly plan my life for me and tell me what to do."
Benoit knew Queenie was speaking the truth and spoke gently, "Don't worry, I won't do that."
Queenie nodded and playfully asked, "Then may I ask you, have you had a girlfriend before?"
"No," he replied.
"Then I must confess to you, I have had a boyfriend for three years in the past. After experiencing previous failures, I have added another requirement for my future partner."
"What is it?" Benoit suddenly became nervous. He had already learned from Pollard about wearing gold-rimmed glasses, so what else did Queenie want? Did he have to learn archaeology too?
Seeing his slight nervousness, Queenie smiled and said, "I hope that no matter how busy my future partner is with work, they can always make time to be with me and the children."
"I can do that," Benoit visibly relaxed, took a bite of steak, and asked, "What about you, Miss Lorente?"
"I've never thought about what my future partner will look like or what kind of personality they will have," said Benoit, as he adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses on his nose with great enthusiasm. "For example, a sophisticated man who wears glasses?"
Queenie smiled and replied, "Mr. Clancy, you're in a hurry to match me with someone, but that would deduct points."
Benoit was silent for a moment.
However, Queenie did take Benoit's question seriously and thought about it.
Actually, she didn't really like men who wear glasses, but Pollard happened to be one.
Compared to men who wear glasses and are refined, she actually prefers men who are dominant and make her feel secure.
She had caught a glimpse of Benoit in a previous occasion.
Back then, before Benoit had his accident, he could still walk without glasses, his steps were strong and imposing, giving off a powerful aura.
That image was quite appealing.
But Queenie wouldn't say it, as it would make her seem infatuated.
The two of them continued to talk about their hobbies.
Benoit thought for a moment and answered, "Taking care of pets, fishing, reading, and collecting things."
"Taking care of pets? What kind of pets do you have?"
"Dogs."
"Really?" Queenie's eyes lit up. "I wanted to have a dog when I was little, but Monica was scared of dogs, so my family didn't let me have one. Is your dog cute?"
Benoit thought about his over 100-pound brown Tibetan Mastiff, General, and replied, "Very cute."
Manley, sitting in the booth behind them, almost choked on his food after hearing that!
Queenie's interest instantly grew, "Then, is there a chance for me to meet him?"
"Yes!" Benoit agreed immediately and sent a message to Manley on WhatsApp, ‘Arrange for General to be bathed and groomed, and make him look cute.’
Manley felt like crying.
I'm really in a tough spot!
Coast City's number one fierce dog!
How can I make him look cute???
After discussing their hobbies, the two of them had finished eating.
Benoit took out his phone and opened WhatsApp, handing it over to Queenie politely. "Miss Lorente, since we've had such an enjoyable conversation, let's exchange contact information."
Queenie thought to herself, haven't we already added each other on WhatsApp?
She glanced at the QR code and burst out laughing.
