Chapter 87 Married to Mr. Clancy
As the voice faded, Queenie's face turned a bit pale. She felt both surprised and embarrassed. Barbara Clancy, on the other hand, excitedly shouted, "Brother, you finally did it! Brother, Queenie is blushing!"
Barbara Clancy grew more and more excited as she spoke, completely oblivious to the chilling aura emanating from Benoit by her side.
After a brief loss of composure, Queenie had no choice but to face the emotional issues of four people. She pursed her lips and, with Benoit and Barbara Clancy listening, reluctantly used the speakerphone to communicate with Pollard.
"Pollard, thank you. But what you're saying has nothing to do with me anymore. I told you before, I'm married."
"Married? That's impossible!"
Pollard and Barbara Clancy, the two siblings, said in unison, their voices filled with conviction.
Queenie fell silent. Barbara Clancy, who was present, reacted first and reached out her hand to Queenie. "Then show me your marriage certificate."
"I don't have the marriage certificate with me," Queenie truthfully replied.
But Barbara Clancy just smiled with a knowing look and shouted into the speaker. "Brother, Queenie doesn't have a marriage certificate. She's been lying to us!"
Pollard on the other end of the phone listened and responded gently, "Queenie, I've already told you, stop lying to me! I can't believe you would get married."
This made Queenie so angry that she yelled into the phone. "I got married! And Mr. Clancy is my husband! If you want a marriage certificate, ask Mr. Clancy!"
After saying that, Queenie hung up the phone.
The living room in the apartment fell quiet for a moment.
Barbara Clancy looked at Queenie in shock. "Have you lost your mind? How can you even say that you're marrying Mr. Clancy?"
Queenie sighed in frustration. "Why is it impossible for me to marry Mr. Clancy? Am I so bad or something?"
At this point, Barbara Clancy spoke calmly. "It's not about being good or bad. Anyway, you can't marry my Mr. Clancy. If you were my stepmother, I would do a handstand and eat shit in this living room!"
Queenie was speechless.
"Besides, look, you two have separate bedrooms. Can a couple be like that?"
Benoit and Queenie were at a loss.
"You see, Queenie, you can't answer, right? Look how smart I am! I can analyze things so well."
With these words, the dog in the living room seemed to make a soft whimper and lay down to sleep.
Queenie glared at Benoit and said, "You explain it yourself."
After saying that, Queenie went back to her room.
Barbara Clancy was terrified and walked over to Benoit's wheelchair, crouching down to plead for Queenie.
"Mr. Clancy, can you not argue with my sister Queenie? She's been having a hard time lately, and she is mainly frustrated with all the bitches! I apologize for her dragging you into this."
Benoit thought about Queenie's earlier reaction and nodded thoughtfully. "You're saying, women really hate that kind of younger sister?"
"Of course! They hate it so much! It's not just about younger sisters. Sometimes, it could be female secretaries, senior sisters, female assistants, etc."
Benoit's expression darkened. He didn't have any female secretaries or assistants like that.
"So you're saying, there shouldn't be any opposite sex around?"
"It's not that extreme," Barbara Clancy continued to express her opinion. "Normal working relationships are okay, but the key is to avoid bitches! Men need to make their stance clear and not have any ambiguous relationships with those bad women."
"Alright, I understand." Benoit nodded.
Lancy suddenly became puzzled and looked at Benoit suspiciously. "Mr. Clancy, why have you been... particularly interested in romantic matters lately?"
Benoit stared straight at Barbara Clancy and replied, "Well, I want to pursue your third aunt."
"Ah! Mr. Clancy really has someone he likes? Who is she?"
Just as Barbara Clancy finished speaking, Queenie walked out as well and heard the conversation, her gaze also falling on Benoit.
"This is your third aunt," Benoit said without hiding, looking straight at Queenie and nodding in her direction.
Queenie's expression froze, feeling like she had been flirted with in front of her juniors.
Barbara Clancy rolled her eyes, saying, "Mr. Clancy, can you let go of this 'marriage joke' between the two of you? Can't it just be over?"
As she spoke, Barbara Clancy, worried that Benoit would scold Queenie, took the initiative to hold her hand and led her outside, saying, "Queenie, I'll treat you to lunch today. Consider it an apology for asking you to buy clothes for me this morning and for meddling with your makeup earlier."
It was lunchtime, so Queenie didn't refuse either.
The moment she stepped out of the door, she was already thinking of arranging lunch.
Before Queenie could say anything, Barbara Clancy forcefully took her away.
On the way, Barbara Clancy sternly lectured her. "Queenie! How could you use Mr. Clancy as a shield? Let me tell you, Mr. Clancy isn't as powerful as before after the car accident, and it's easier to reason with him now. If it were before, he would have thrown you into the sea to feed the sharks for manipulating him like this! Anyway, don't mention this matter again."
"Umm... Alright," Queenie smiled, unable to explain and simply chose not to explain anymore.
Seeing Queenie not mentioning the marriage issue again, Barbara Clancy visibly became happier.
She brought Queenie to a Japanese restaurant.
"Queenie, this place is Mommy's favorite restaurant," Barbara Clancy said, raising an eyebrow. "You know, in the future, you can bring my mom here to eat."
Without waiting for Queenie's response, Barbara Clancy pointed to a small private room ahead and said, "Queenie, you go and occupy the seat. I'll go to the restroom and be right back."
After saying that, Barbara Clancy took her phone and headed towards the restroom.
As soon as she reached the restroom, Barbara Clancy called Pollard. "Brother, I figured it out. Queenie did it on purpose to annoy you. She doesn’t even have the marriage certificate."
From the other end of the phone, Pollard's confident voice came. "She said she married Mr. Clancy. Do you think I would believe that?"
"Exactly. This should be the biggest joke of the year!"
"Yeah, Barbara. Help me placate her even more. I've already talked to mom about giving the bonus card to Queenie."
"No problem, bro! Leave it to me. I'll take care of your wife!"
At this moment, Queenie saw an empty seat and opened the curtain to go in, but she heard a displeased voice behind her.
"What are you doing? There's someone here!"
Queenie heard the familiar voice and frowned. She turned around and came face to face with Lilith's impatient face.
Both of them were taken aback upon seeing each other.
"What are you doing here?" Lilith raised her voice. "Well, I wanted to find you! I didn't expect you to come knocking on my door!"
"I have nothing to say to you," Queenie responded calmly, turning to leave.
Thinking that she was feeling guilty, Lilith forcefully grabbed her arm.
"Don't go! Let's clear things up! Queenie, I really underestimated you! You have smartly convinced Pollard to give you his bank card! Have you no shame?!"
Queenie furrowed her brow. "I didn't, and I would never ask for Pollard's bank card."
"Do you think I would believe that?" Lilith got too excited and forgot that Queenie was already married. Instead, she imagined herself in the role of a future mother-in-law and became increasingly agitated.
"Let me tell you, there's no way you can have my son's salary card!"
As she finished speaking, many people from the nearby seats came out to watch the commotion.
One of the older women, who was also a mother-in-law, couldn't help but ask, "Girl, what's going on?"
Lilith pointed at Queenie angrily and asked her, "You tell me, is there any reason for this in the world? Shouldn't a son's bank card be kept by his own mother? This woman had my son come ask me for the bank card! Isn't she a calculating witch?!"
