Chapter 167 Pollard's Self-Indulgence
Upon hearing that Queenie was about to reveal the truth, Monica timely welled up with tears and quickly interrupted.
"Sis, I didn't expect you to be like this, so petty. I am, after all, Pollard's sister. What's wrong with him accompanying me to Clancy Villa? Since I came all this way..."
"I don't feel welcome here, so I better leave. But you shouldn't address Auntie by her name, it's very disrespectful to Auntie," Monica said, glancing at Lilith subconsciously.
Lilith agreed to bring Monica to Clancy Villa and create an opportunity for her to be alone with Pollard, on the condition that she would prevent Queenie from revealing the truth.
Therefore, she had to complete this task.
A sense of relief visibly spread across Lilith's face.
As Queenie was about to say something, Pollard's expression turned serious and he sternly rebuked, "Queenie, that's uncalled for!"
Queenie froze.
Not only her, but Scarlett and David, who were witnessing this scene upstairs, also froze to different extents.
Holding a boyfriend-like position of being good to his girlfriend, Pollard lectured, "You used to say that Monica and your mom bullied you. Just look at what you just said, it's clear that you were bullying Monica."
Monica cried at the right moment and said, "Pollard, thank you for speaking up for me."
Lilith chuckled to herself; it seemed like bringing Monica to Clancy Villa was the right decision.
Pollard gestured to Monica, telling her not to be upset, and continued scolding Queenie, "I can understand that you used to mind Emily's presence. But Monica is your own sister! Even if she occasionally does something thoughtless, you're her older sister! You should understand and be tolerant."
"Isn't it ridiculous! Does being an older sister mean you deserve to suffer?" Queenie hit Queenie's sore spot with her words, and instantly, her presence became dominating, her gaze sharper than before.
"I've heard these words more than a hundred times since I was little. You all always emphasize how an older sister should be and what an older sister should do. Is giving birth to an older sister just to take care of a whole bunch of people? Who will uphold the rights and happiness of the older sister?"
"Well said!" Benoit chimed in, "There should be equality between sisters, brothers, and younger siblings. No one comes into this world to live for others. An older sister also has the right to be whimsical. Besides, Monica is already of age, she's not a young child anymore. Why should Queenie have to compromise with her?"
"Mr. Clancy! I just don't want Queenie's relationship with the family to deteriorate further. Why are you fueling the fire!" Pollard said, still wearing a lecturing expression as he looked at Queenie.
"And how dare you address Mom by her name! Queenie, I know you're angry, and you're taking it out on me! Mom can be angry at me too. I can handle it all. As long as we build a harmonious family together, I don't mind bearing the brunt."
Queenie rolled her eyes in anger, about to say something, when a call from an unknown number came in.
After answering her phone, Queenie heard a girl's sobbing cry.
"Teacher, please save me..."
Queenie trembled, it was Jennifer!
"Hey, don't bully that girl!"
"Teacher, I have no one else to turn to. Everyone refuses to help me, teacher..."
Queenie's face turned serious. "Where are you?"
"I'm at Paradise Club."
"Paradise Club?" Before she could ask for more details, the person on the other end hung up.
Queenie looked anxious, and Scarlett hurriedly came down and asked, "What happened? Are you going to Paradise Club? I have a VIP card for that place."
As she spoke, Scarlett took out a VIP card from her wallet.
"Thanks." Queenie took the card and prepared to leave.
Benoit glanced at her and reminded, "Take Kate with you."
Queenie smiled knowingly, nodded at Benoit, and ran out.
She appreciated Benoit's unconditional support!
Seeing Queenie leave, Lilith showed a hint of joy on her face.
Mary is still reliable! She really managed to distract Queenie as promised!
Pollard felt a bit annoyed that Queenie left without saying anything and looked at Monica instead.
"Don't be upset. Let me take you to explore Clancy Villa."
Lilith smiled warmly. "Alright, Pollard, take good care of Monica. I'm going to visit your grandmother first."
