Chapter 24 Support
"What's wrong?" Queenie frowned.
"Someone on the Internet reported you cheated in voting, and they are scolding you!" Macy growled with her hands on her hips, "They can't surpass you, so they play such dirty tricks. Shame on them."
Queenie quickly turned on her phone to check what happened.
Many comments were scolding her on her voting homepage.
[Is cheating interesting?]
[Shameless! Cheater!]
[Everyone, don't vote for this teacher. It's immoral to cheat in voting.]
[It's so disgusting. She is unqualified to be a teacher!]
Reading on, Queenie frowned more tightly. Someone even cursed her to be hit to death by a car!
Unreasonable!
Queenie suppressed her anger and walked to the balcony to call Benoit.
"Mr... Darling." Queenie was not used to calling Benoit like this, and the punishment last night occurred to her mind, so she changed her words shyly.
Benoit's low gurgle of laughter sounded in the phone.
"What? Does Ms. Lorente want to change my surname to Darling?"
Queenie felt her cheeks on fire because of his tease. "Stop! I have something to ask you. Did you ask the voting company to help me vote?"
"No," Benoit replied categorically, "It was all voted by acquaintances and people from the company. What happened?"
"It's nothing. Someone slandered me for cheating. Since you didn't, I'll talk with the organizing committee. I won't let people bespatter me about what I didn't do."
Queenie was well-behaved, but it didn't mean others could bully her casually!
"Okay. Queenie, if you need any help, remember to tell me. I will always be your strong backing."
"Okay." Queenie's voice turned softer, and she felt warm all of a sudden.
She had a family now who would always support her.
This unexpected discovery made her overjoyed.
Although Benoit might not be able to help her much, for he had lost his power, she was still delighted to hear such words.
Macy stood beside Queenie, watching her blushing and shy all the time. Now Macy knew well of their affection!
She could do nothing but congratulate them!
Queenie hung up the phone and immediately called the competition committee.
The receptionist was a woman who sounded like she was in her early twenties.
After Queenie made her appeal clear, the receptionist said slowly, "Oh, that's beyond our control."
Followed was the sound of bubble gum blowing up.
"No, you can control it," Queenie said insistently, "You can delete false messages to protect my rights as a contestant.
"You can also issue a public announcement for me, asking netizens to stop spreading rumors about me. If there is any evidence to prove that I have cheated, you can submit it to the organizing committee."
"Well, do you know what freedom of speech is? We can't restrain what netizens want to say."
Queenie's face darkened, and her voice became more serious. "Miss, netizens have freedom of speech, but the Internet is not a place outside the law!
"These people slandered me out of thin air, which has insulted my personality and violated my right to reputation. I have the right to sue them."
There came another sound of bubble gum blowing up, and then the receptionist said slowly, "Oh, you just go and sue."
Her tone was indifferent, and she didn't believe Queenie would sue those netizens at all.
"Okay, please tell me your job number before hanging up. By the way, this call has been recorded. I want to complain about your dereliction of duty."
Hearing these, the woman on the other side of the phone raised her voice suddenly, sounding very nervous.
"Hey, don't mess around."
"I'm not messing around. I'm just trying to reason with you now," Queenie said calmly.
Then, what the woman said was all set back by Queenie. She finally had no choice but to surrender.
"Fine, wait a minute... I'll report the situation to superiors. Anyway, I do what you said, so you can't complain about me."
"Sure," Queenie replied politely and hung up the phone.
Twenty minutes later, the organizing committee deleted the false messages and issued a public notice, as Queenie said.
Seeing the result, Macy looked at Queenie admiringly.
"Well done! They always act negatively and shift the blame from one to another. This is how we should deal with these people."
Meanwhile, as soon as Benoit hung up the phone, he immediately asked Manley to investigate who caused these troubles.
Three hours later, Manley brought the results.
"The main person responsible is Mrs. Clancy's opponent, who originally ranked first in the voting. After being exceeded by Mrs. Clancy, she was not reconciled and began to slander Mrs. Clancy.
"Besides, your sister-in-law, Lilith, also employed some people to fuel the flames."
"Well, submit the evidence to the competition committee, let them judge fairly, and make sure to uphold justice for Queenie.
"As for Lilith, I will settle it in person!"
The mission was cleared, and when Manley was about to leave, Benoit stopped him.
"Inform all the high-level officials that from now on, all those who voted for Queenie must finish watching the videos of Queenie's class!
"And everyone has to write a sincere comment of no less than three hundred words after watching, and no plagiarism is allowed!"
"Three hundred words?" Manley, who was not good at writing, nearly cried. "Sir, it's too much."
"Three hundred words for others and four hundred for you."
Manley was about to faint.
Soon, the teacher who ranked second in the total score was disqualified by the organizing committee because of unfair competition and malicious discrediting of other contestants.
And many long comments appeared at the bottom of Queenie's voting page.
Most of them were written with authenticated accounts, which seemed to be highly authentic.
Benoit called Queenie at the school gate when it was time to get off work. "Queenie, I want to invite your bestie to dinner. What do you think?"
"That's great. But I have to ask if Macy is free."
When Macy learned that Benoit would treat her to dinner, she readily agreed.
After tidying up their things, Queenie and Macy left the school together.
When they reached the opposite road, Manley bowed to greet them and opened the car door for Queenie politely. "Please, Mrs. Clancy."
After Queenie got into the car, Manley immediately closed the car door and turned to Macy.
"Ms. Willot, please take this car. Mr. Clancy is not used to sharing a car with females other than Mrs. Clancy."
Macy was speechless.
She thought, 'Why did I come?'
After a while, the car arrived at a private restaurant called Peace Restaurant.
This restaurant only received eight tables of distinguished guests every day.
Today, the small blackboard at the door read: [One chamber left.]
When Queenie arrived, Lilith and several noble ladies happened to have just arrived at the same time.
They all stared at the small blackboard, and their faces turned complicated.
What a coincidence.
