Chapter 82 Mary Green Gets Slapped
Seeing that Mrs. Clifton had spoken, the other wealthy ladies chimed in.
"Yeah, we never expected this mother and daughter to be so shameless!"
"That's right! When we come here to choose clothes on regular days, we just pick one or two to show our support. Unlike this mother and daughter duo! They just take a bunch without paying!"
"They're just looking for someone to be their scapegoat!"
"They even claim to be mother and daughter! How can a mother defraud her own daughter like this?"
"I'm also the eldest sister in my family! I can't stand it when people say that as the eldest one, I should pay for everything! Everything falls on the eldest sister. Even when the younger brother gets married, it's the eldest sister's responsibility to pay. So being the eldest sister means being taken advantage of!"
Mrs. Clifton walked straight towards Queenie, took her arm, and looked at her approvingly.
"Queenie, you said it well with reason and evidence. Being filial but rejecting moral blackmail, being filial and upholding personal principles. You are much better than those who just follow the crowd!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the wealthy ladies who had spoken earlier felt a twinge of pain on their faces.
Mary Green walked over in high heels and glanced deeply at Queenie. "Karel, what you said is right. But a family is a place of love, not a place for reasoning."
She glanced at the pile of things. "It is indeed excessive to buy so much. But as family, shouldn't we also consider each other's face? How about just picking one as a gesture? After all, it's almost Chinese New Year, and buying a piece of clothing for your mother and sister is nothing extraordinary. But if, as you said, you can't afford it, then why come to this store? This store is known for luxury brands in Coast City, and that's the consensus among most people!"
Queenie's face turned angry.
She recognized the woman in front of her. Leo Blair's sister, the one who sprayed her with perfume laced with drugs last time!
Before she could say anything, Manley walked in. He nodded politely at Mrs. Clifton who had just reported the situation.
The manager of the counter also greeted him politely. "Mr. Foster, is there anything I can help you with?"
In this place, not only the salesgirl, but many people recognized Manley.
There was a saying in the neighborhood- "Seeing 'Manley' is like seeing Mr. Clancy."
Everyone knew that Manley was a prominent figure in Mr. Clancy's circle!
Having spent a long time with Mr. Clancy, Manley also had a certain presence outside. He took out a document expressionlessly.
"Mr. Clancy has just acquired this store."
Everyone gasped at his words.
The Coast City's top luxury store, and they just acquire it like that?! Manley pointed at Queenie again. "Mr. Clancy has asked to recognize Miss Lorente from now on. Anytime she enters this store, provide her with the highest level of VIP service. Everything she sees and touches has priority for purchase. Anything Miss Lorente fancies, she can take and charge it to Mr. Clancy's account."
As soon as he finished speaking, the wealthy women were once again shocked.
And Mary Green was furious.
Why was Benoit treating this despicable woman so well? And Mary had just mocked Queenie for not being able to afford anything here, but her plan failed within seconds.
Mary Green was seething!
Barbara Clancy wanted to say something, but Manley's voice grew even louder.
"Mr. Clancy has also instructed that this privilege is exclusive to Miss Lorente! No one else, including Mr. Clancy's other relatives, has this right, unless Miss Lorente approves."
After speaking, Manley nodded at Queenie and left without specifying Queenie and Mr. Clancy's relationship, leaving everyone in confusion.
Mrs. Clifton held Queenie's arm and asked, "Queenie, do you still want to look at the clothes here?"
Queenie glanced around and replied, "To be honest, I'm still not that fond of them."
"Alright then, let's go somewhere else." Mrs. Clifton suggested.
Queenie nodded, "Okay."
The two left hand in hand.
Monica, feeling embarrassed, quickly held her mother Gilda's hand and left too.
On the way back, she couldn't help but ask, "Mom, did my sister actually get married or not?"
