Chapter 76 I Thought You Liked Queenie!
Benoit and Queenie were taken aback. Neither of them had expected Barbara Clancy to suddenly appear here. The atmosphere became awkward in an instant.
Barbara Clancy's gaze shifted back and forth between Benoit and Queenie. Suddenly, she forcefully slammed the car door, making a loud noise. "Oh, I see!"
She gave a strange look to Benoit and Queenie.
Queenie felt that Barbara Clancy was morally criticizing her. She felt a bit embarrassed and couldn't completely let go of the fact that she was engaged to Mr. Clancy, her fiancé. It was her personality at play.
"Oh, I see!" Barbara Clancy repeated again. "I heard that you had an incident before my brother went on a business trip. It seems you encountered a terrible police chief and asked Mr. Clancy to protect you. Am I right?"
Manley, the driver, had no words.
Barbara Clancy laughed and confidently said, "That must be it! Finding Queenie was the right move! Even though she limps, she still holds some influence in Coast City!"
Saying that, Barbara Clancy casually sat into the car, without forgetting to greet Queenie. "Queenie, come on, get in!"
Queenie's face stiffened as she glanced at Benoit. Then she finally bent down and got into the car.
As the car door closed, Barbara Clancy exclaimed excitedly, "Mr. Clancy, are you here to take Queenie out for a meal?" Without waiting for Benoit's response, she continued, "That's great! You can also treat me! I’ll consider it a meal hosted by you two elders for me!"
"Well, let's consider it as two elders hosting you," Benoit repeated Barbara Clancy's words meaningfully.
Understanding the underlying meaning behind his words, Queenie smiled to herself. She didn't know why Benoit didn't expose Barbara Clancy's statement, but she thought it would be better to deal with this matter later.
The car quickly arrived at a restaurant called Sunset.
Barbecue Restaurant.
This restaurant was located on the rooftop of the 101st floor.
After work, office workers came here to barbecue and enjoy the beautiful sunset which was very romantic.
As soon as Queenie sat down, she received a WhatsApp message from Benoit. Miss Lorente, today's sunset is beautiful, but not as beautiful as you.
Queenie's lips curled up slightly, feeling pleased, but she replied. Smooth-talking? Deducting points.
Benoit smiled and replied. I'm innocent! I just spoke the truth.
The two exchanged messages back and forth, and Manley watched, secretly thinking that Barbara Clancy was really bold.
Because of Barbara Clancy's arrival, their original date turned into a dinner for four.
After the waiter served the dishes, Benoit and Manley took the tongs and voluntarily grilled the meat for the two ladies.
Queenie looked at Benoit sitting across from her. He had a handsome appearance with a golden glow from the setting sun, giving him an air of elegance and pride.
His hands, comparable to a pianist's, had slim and flawless fingers which were quite attractive.
Suddenly, Queenie felt a slight stirring in her heart, and she secretly glanced at Barbara Clancy, feeling a thrilling sense of forbidden excitement.
As Benoit finished grilling a long slice of wagyu beef, he picked it up and handed it to Queenie.
Barbara Clancy opened her mouth, intending to say something but ultimately swallowed it.
By the time Benoit grilled the second and third slices of meat and gave them to Queenie, while Manley served himself, Barbara Clancy became somewhat displeased.
"Mr. Clancy," Barbara Clancy pouted, "I haven't eaten yet!"
"Then grill it yourself! You're twenty-two years old. Don't you have hands?"
"Queenie has hands too," Barbara Clancy muttered under her breath.
Finally, Benoit had a change of heart and gave her a small piece of meat.
Barbara Clancy pouted even higher. "Queenie got three slices of prime wagyu beef, and mine is just scraps. The comparison is too obvious! If someone didn't know, they would think you like Queenie!"
As her words fell, Queenie's heart skipped a beat.
Manley thought to himself, “Wow! You’ve actually hit the nail on the head with that.”
