Chapter 138 Benoit
Something is off about Queenie's relationship with Brandon.
His dark eyes sank.
He's not a fool, and it seems a bit unreasonable for Queenie to be at Benoit's house right now.
But when his gaze fell upon his younger brother's face, filled with laughter, his eyes softened and a hint of doting appeared.
Barbara's voice came from inside the house.
"Dad, why are you here?"
In an instant, Barbara bounced and jumped into Brandon's arms, giving him a big bear hug. "Dad, I missed you."
Brandon laughed contentedly and patted Barbara's back. "Still acting spoiled, huh?"
Barbara pouted. "No matter how old I am, I will always be your little baby."
Brandon chuckled. "Yes, you will always be my baby."
Seeing the interaction between Barbara and her father, Queenie looked at them with envy.
Brandon gently released Barbara and lifted his chin. "Let's go inside."
With that, he took the initiative to push Benoit's wheelchair and walked inside.
Nervously, Queenie stood in the living room and saw a middle-aged man in a apricot-colored windbreaker walking in.
He was slightly leaner and not as robust as Benoit, but exuded a different kind of charm.
Brandon was in his early fifties but took good care of himself, looking like a man in his forties with an elegant and mature demeanor.
Queenie felt a bit nervous upon seeing Brandon, forgetting to call someone.
But it was Brandon who nodded slightly and smiled kindly when he saw her.
After taking their seats, Brandon's concerned gaze fell on Benoit's legs. "How are you doing these days? Any sensation?"
"It's about the same," Benoit replied vaguely.
Brandon's eyes darkened slightly, and he patted his shoulder, saying, "It will get better."
Then, Brandon beckoned Queenie to sit down. "Queenie, come, sit down. I came here to see you this time."
Queenie walked over and sat across from Benoit. Barbara also sat next to her.
Just as Queenie had settled, Brandon, with a smile that seemed like a smirk, asked, "How come you two happened to be here at Benoit's today?"
Actually, Brandon wanted to ask why Queenie was here.
His little brother was not known for being warm and welcoming.
Before Queenie could speak, Barbara interrupted. "Dad, don't you know? My brother is really unreliable. He left Queenie behind after a director was bothering her and went on a business trip.
If it weren't for Mr. Clancy helping and allowing Queenie to stay here, she would have been in big trouble!"
Brandon's mouth curled in a stiff manner, and his gaze towards his younger brother became deeper. "Benoit, you rarely meddle in other people's affairs."
With that sentence, Queenie's heart skipped a beat.
Brandon didn't seem like the loser they described in rumors.
On the contrary, this person is very shrewd in his heart. Just as Benoit was about to speak, Barbara interrupted again.
"Of course, we have to help! Queenie is our family. Mr. Clancy will definitely protect her."
Brandon smiled softly and looked sincerely at Queenie. "I'll learn more about the other matters later. Queenie, I apologize to you for coming here today. I went to the police station to investigate what Mrs. Pollard did. It was her fault, so I apologize on her behalf."
Queenie responded calmly, "No, you shouldn't apologize for this matter."
Brandon waved his hand, with a hint of regret in his eyes. "No, I am also responsible for this issue. By staying in the laboratory all day and not being aware of Zachary's situation, I caused such a thing to happen. Queenie, I'm sorry."
Pausing for a moment, Brandon had his assistant bring some apology gifts. "These are the gifts I prepared. I will have the police provide a detailed explanation to your school and request it to be posted to restore your reputation. Furthermore, I will ask Lilith to apologize to you in person. It was truly inappropriate for our elders to handle this matter. Queenie, can you drop the case?"
