Chapter 96 Their Relationship Exposed
Anastasia's face stiffened for a moment, then quickly returned to normal. "If I hadn't seen you contribute to the growth of our Romero family, I would be too ashamed to face your grandfather."
With that, Anastasia pulled the silent woman, who was now sitting on the sofa with her head down.
Barbara Clancy sneered along, "Then grandma can happily close her eyes. Because there's someone by Simms' side who knows both his warmth and coldness, and that's me!"
Saying that, Barbara Clancy tried to link her arm with Simms.
Simms shot her a cold stare which frightened Barbara Clancy into freezing.
Barbara Clancy knew that when Simms was displeased, one shouldn't go against him, or it would backfire.
Seeing this, Anastasia smiled and said, "Barbara, don't try to please an old lady like me. You're still young and have plenty of time to squander around. You're not suitable for marriage."
“What a joke!” Barbara Clancy thought to herself.
Anastasia had been trying to seize Simms' power. She naturally couldn't allow him to marry the Clancy family's heiress.
If they joined forces, would her son still have a say?
Barbara Clancy broke her silence after hearing Anastasia's words. "Who said that being young means not suitable for marriage? If Simms agrees, I'll marry him immediately!"
Anastasia smiled and looked at the woman beside her, coaxing her by holding her hand.
"You don't need to pay too much attention to Barbara's words. She has liked Simms for several years, but there hasn't been any progress. My grandson has been rejecting her all this time!"
The woman forced a smile, but she didn't respond. She couldn’t even dare to lift her head to speak to Simms.
Simms's gaze fell coldly on her dark head. "Which family's heiress are you?"
The woman raised her head, her lips slightly parted, but before she could speak, she heard Simms say, "So you're seeking death?"
The woman trembled in fear.
Simms coldly continued, "Haven't you heard that most women who wanted to marry me met untimely deaths? Haven't you heard that I am ruthless, having killed several women in my bed?"
With a thud, the woman fell to her knees.
"Please spare me! I was forced by my family to come. Our family business is about to go bankrupt... They forced me to come."
As she spoke, the timid woman kept kowtowing.
Anastasia's face darkened at the sight, and she silently cursed, "Pathetic!"
While Barbara Clancy provocatively looked at Anastasia and said, "The one you brought here won't have a chance even for a second!"
Anastasia's expression turned completely dark at the remark. She caught a glimpse of Benoit being slowly pushed over by a woman. Her old eyes suddenly widened, followed by a flash of realization on her face.
Benoit remained calm and indifferent.
Nodding towards Anastasia, he asked, "Grandma, are you in good health lately?"
He had a handsome and gentle face, wearing gold-rimmed glasses on his nose. When he asked someone a question, there was a hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth, giving people a refined and cultured feeling.
But Anastasia didn't see it that way.
She knew very well that Benoit was a cunning fox.
Asking about her health was just a reminder that she was getting old and might pass away accidentally one day!
Anastasia felt angry inside, but still spoke kindly, "I am still in good health. If my old bones don’t seen Simms branch out for the Romero family, I’ll not have the face to see our ancestors."
With that, Anastasia glanced deeply at Barbara Clancy and smiled as she continued, "To be honest, I really envy Mr. Clancy."
"Oh?" Benoit laughed and took on the provocation.
"Strictly speaking, Mr. Clancy had a car accident, and his mobility is limited. On top of that, his reputation precedes him, so it must be harder for him to find a relationship than us Simms. Unexpectedly, your sister-in-law generously pushed her potential daughter-in-law onto your bed. That's why Mr. Clancy now has a caring and beautiful woman by his side, right?"
As the words fell, Barbara Clancy's face completely changed.
