Chapter 89 Lilith Loses Control
"Mommy, I came back on my own." Barbara Clancy looked at Lilith in shock. "And how did you become like this? How could you call Queenie a wicked woman?"
Barbara Clancy had received a good education since childhood. She was a bit spoiled, but she never used foul language.
To see her own mother like this now was extremely shocking for her.
Queenie quickly realized that Pollard and Barbara Clancy were Lilith's kin.
She took a few steps closer with a vengeful delight.
"Calling me a bitch is the least of it. What this good mother of yours has done to me is far more than that..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Lilith's eyes shrunk with fear, and she quickly raised her hand to stop her. "Shut up, bitch!"
Barbara Clancy reacted swiftly and protected Queenie, taking the full blow of the slap on her forehead, causing her head to buzz. She had almost lost her balance.
After a while, her cheek was burning with pain, and half of her face was swollen and red.
Lilith felt distressed and didn't know what to do. "Barbara, don't scare Mommy. Are you okay?"
At this moment, Mrs. Clifton and several other wealthy women also walked out of their private booths.
Mrs. Clifton pulled Queenie away with compassion and exclaimed, "You're really unlucky to have such an ex-mother-in-law."
The rest of the wealthy women looked at Lilith disapprovingly.
"Lilith, it was forgivable when we said you were too obsessed with comparisons before. But how come these days, you become less and less like a wealthy woman?"
"That's right, you're publicly insulting people and losing control. It's really embarrassing for us!"
"I remember when we first entered this circle, we told you that besides being wealthy and having a prestigious background, one must also possess personal manners and cultivation. Look at you now! What's the difference between you and a shrew?"
Everyone voiced their criticisms, making Lilith's face burn as if she were being roasted on fire. She remembered her previous lesson to Queenie, saying that she was too easily provoked and couldn't survive in the upper-class society!
But she never expected that today she would be so provoked and her behavior would become so unruly because of a bank card.
"Barbara, let's go to the hospital," Lilith held Barbara Clancy's hand and wanted to leave.
However, Barbara Clancy withdrew her hand and said, "Mommy, you go ahead. I want to stay with Queenie."
She felt uncomfortable, not only because of the pain on her face but also because of a sense of unease in her heart.
She didn't dare to think about how much it would have hurt if that slap had landed on Queenie's face!
Barbara Clancy refused the closeness of her biological mother and held Queenie's hand.
"You!" Lilith glared at Queenie with anger, then turned and left.
Mrs. Clifton looked at Barbara Clancy approvingly and said, "You're different from your mother. You can see things clearly."
Seeing Barbara Clancy's swollen face, Queenie was grateful and concerned, "Barbara, I should still take you to the hospital."
"Yes, it hurts so much. But please don't let it ruin my appearance."
Mrs. Clifton and Queenie took Barbara Clancy to the nearest hospital.
On the way, Barbara Clancy complained to her older brother on WhatsApp.
"Brother, you have no idea. Mommy went too far. She called Queenie a bitch and even attacked her.”
"Wanna take a snap, Queenie?" Barbara Clancy asked, taking a selfie and showing it to Pollard.
"Bro, look at this! If it weren't for me, Queenie would totally resemble that!"
"Bro, Mom has gone too far! Ever since you left, she's been causing trouble for Queenie!"
Mrs. Clifton glanced at Queenie disdainfully.
Queenie shrugged helplessly. "I told Barbara that I married her Mr. Clancy, but she didn't believe me."
As soon as she finished speaking, Barbara rolled her eyes. "Karel, would you believe that if you were in my shoes?"
Mrs. Clifton pursed her lips and then heard Barbara adding, "Definitely not! Only a fool would believe that!"
Mrs. Clifton was speechless.
Queenie shrugged at Karel.
Meanwhile, Lilith stormed out of the Japanese restaurant and was intercepted by Gilda and her daughter, Monica.
"Mrs. Clancy, if you're free, we'd like to invite you for a cup of tea," Gilda offered.
Lilith knew of Gilda's ulterior motives and arrogantly refused, "I'm busy."
With that, Lilith started to leave.
Gilda spoke up from behind her. "Mrs. Clancy, I have something important to tell you. My daughter... Queenie didn't really get married to Mr. Clancy."
Lilith's face changed, and she paused her steps.
