Chapter 130 Pollard's Guilt
Pollard had always been afraid of Mr. Clancy whose name resounded in Coast City. He didn't dare argue with him, so he turned to Queenie.
"Queenie, withdraw the case, I beg you."
"Yes," Emily agreed, "Queenie, it's better to avoid unnecessary trouble. Besides, considering Pollard risked his life to save..."
Before Emily could finish her sentence, Pollard anxiously interrupted her. "What are you talking about?"
Reprimanding Emily, he nervously glanced at Benoit.
Benoit didn't miss Pollard's subtle expression, but he remained unfazed.
He didn't understand why Pollard was so agitated.
Risking his life to save?
When a girlfriend encountered trouble, wasn't it reasonable for her boyfriend to risk himself to save her?
Seeing that Emily didn't mention the words "big fire" and Benoit didn't react, Pollard secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Queenie sneered at Emily. "Emily, didn't I just ask? What's your surname? It's not your place to lecture me on morals. You and Pollard have no idea what happened from the beginning to the end. Without even asking about the grievances I've suffered..."
“Why am I doing this?” Queenie said disappointedly, staring at Pollard. "Are you really going to trade that matter with me? If you say one word, asking for my gratitude, I will agree to it. From then on, we will have no more connection."
Upon hearing "no more connection”, Pollard's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly denied, "Queenie, I'm not..."
Before he could finish his sentence, the junior disciple's phone rang abruptly.
The sudden ringtone interrupted their conversation.
The junior disciple answered the phone. After listening for a while, she spoke with a choked voice, "Okay, brother, stop talking. We'll go back now."
In distress, the junior disciple stomped her feet anxiously and said, "Senior Brother, my brother said... my mom is being beaten to death."
"I... I'll go get the bank card," Pollard's body moved, ready to rush to the second floor to fetch the bank card.
Queenie sneered, "Your mom is being beaten to death, why are you looking for Pollard? Why don't you call the police or an ambulance?"
Pollard halted his steps, unable to believe his ears as he looked at Queenie.
"Queenie, when did you become so heartless? Do you think everyone is like you? Do you know that the one beating the junior disciple's mother is her father? The junior disciple doesn't want the police to take her father away! Everyone just wants a harmonious family!"
With a sigh, Pollard continued helplessly, "Yes, I know you're angry. I know... What I'm doing is what the junior disciple's boyfriend should do. But please understand! The junior disciple doesn't have a boyfriend, and I am her senior brother. When something happens to her family, what can I do?"
As Queenie listened to Pollard's words, her heart grew colder inch by inch. "Something happened to her family, and you gave up your archaeology work and flew thousands of miles back! I had something to do, and I just asked you to stay for a little longer, finish the ceremony with me, but you refused and left me alone in Coast City, helpless!"
"So, you intentionally hurt my mother as a way to force me to come back?" Pollard's brows tightened.
The junior disciple started crying at the right moment. "Senior Brother, I beg you. Queenie, it's my fault. Can you put your issues with Senior Brother on hold for now? My mom might really be dying..."
Queenie mockingly raised her mouth corner.
If someone's mother was truly in danger, they would definitely call the police or an ambulance, not rely on acquaintances for help.
Considering the waiting time and the drive back to the countryside, it would take at least one or two hours.
If it were truly dangerous, the person would have already passed away.
Upon hearing the junior disciple's words, Pollard quickly rushed to Lilith's room, grabbed the bank card, and came downstairs.
Before leaving, he gave Queenie a deep look and said, "I'll talk to you when I come back!"
After saying that, Pollard left with the junior disciple.
Benoit slowly pushed the wheelchair to Queenie's side and asked, "Are you upset?"
