Chapter 33: Not Hard, But Unfortunate

Before she could finish her sentence, Jenna interrupted, "Jeremy's situation, I haven't thought much about it. Queenie, to be honest with you, I have no feelings for Jeremy.

But during the time I spent with him, he did manage to impress me. Sometimes, I even thought that maybe I could settle for a life with him.

However, I am grateful to you, for whatever reasons you had, for revealing his true nature to me. The thought of spending a lifetime with a man like him sends shivers down my spine.

Queenie, I truly understand your statement that marrying the wrong person can cost a lifetime.

So, I thank you, and I genuinely recognize your talent. Inviting you is not about revenge."

Queenie was still hesitating when her phone started ringing with her caller ID showing a call from Ms. Wilson.

As soon as the call connected, there was a sharp scolding voice.

"Queenie, where are you? How dare you skip class! Do you know that your actions have a terrible impact? You are a teacher, you can't just skip class whenever you're emotional!"

"Ms. Wilson! I checked the schedule for Class 8, and the first English class was already over in the morning. There were no more English classes after that, so I took a leave. Besides, I asked Macy to submit the leave application for me. I didn't miss work without reason."

Ms. Wilson choked for a moment and then tried to salvage the situation, "Next time, let me know in advance."

"Alright, Ms. Wilson, understood."

After ending the call, Queenie sighed and looked at Jenna. "You see, this is my current situation.”

“Queenie, please consider joining me. The salary will be five times what you currently earn! And this is just the beginning, there will be significant bonuses in the future."

"Five times?"

"Yes!" Jenna nodded.

Queenie glanced at her phone and hesitated for a moment. When she looked up again, she had determination in her eyes and had made up her mind.

Before Queenie could say anything, a woman nearby rushed over with a hot cup of coffee.

"Watch out!"

Jenna's body trembled, about to use the menu to shield herself from the spilled coffee, but the woman was quickly subdued by Manley, who had come rushing in.

Manley held the woman's neck and pinned her down with one hand, his other hand gripping her against the ground.
Struggling, the woman exclaimed, "Let go of me! I want to pour this hot coffee all over this little bitch! I want to kill this little bitch! It's because of her shamelessness the other women like her that my boyfriend broke up with me!"

As her voice fell, everyone in the coffee shop turned to look at them.

Some people even started recording videos with their phones.

Queenie stood tall, with a calm expression on her face, showing no signs of embarrassment.

She looked at the woman on the ground and said sternly, "Miss, please stop slandering me. I am not the other woman."

"You're not?! Then why does the internet say so about you? You are a shameless bitch!"

A cold smile formed at the corner of Queenie's mouth. "Does everything the internet says have to be true? Can you guarantee that the video online wasn't intentionally made by someone? Just because it is rumored, doesn’t make it true, and you will inevitably suffer the consequences of your actions."

The woman on the ground's expression changed slightly. "What... what are you planning to do?"

In reality, the woman being held down was just heartbroken and had been mocked by the wealthy and powerful other woman in her relationship. She simply wanted to vent her frustration on Queenie.

"Call the police." Queenie dropped the words lightly, but her gaze was firm.

"There are many rumors on the internet. If everyone believes and acts on these rumors to harm others, then the order of society will surely be chaotic. An adult should have basic judgment about matters. Acting impulsively to vent emotions and intentionally harming others, infringing upon others' rights, will undoubtedly be punished by the law."

The restrained woman was unwilling to accept it and continued to struggle. "Is it necessary to call the police over such a trivial matter? You're just wasting their time!"

"But have you ever considered that I could have become disfigured or injured if you had poured that scalding hot coffee on my face?"

"That... the coffee wasn't that hot, I... tried it! You... you just want to make a small matter into a big deal! The police won't bother with this minor issue."

The more the woman on the ground spoke, the more panicked her voice became.

She had never actually tried the cup of coffee and had no idea how hot it was.

But at the moment she felt a bit regretful for her impulsiveness.

Meanwhile, Queenie's expression became colder. "Exactly, from the perspective of those who perpetrate violence, sending 'flowers for the dead' is nothing. They haven't even harmed that person! Spraying a few insults on the internet is nothing! It's just a few words.

Pouring a cup of hot coffee on someone is nothing, since it only embarrasses the other person in public, with no intention to disfigure them.

Yet, why don't we, the victims, let it go? Perpetrators will never understand the pain caused by their words and actions."

Upon hearing this, the woman on the ground's face turned sour, feeling a sense of guilt.
It felt as if countless slaps were hitting her face in the air.

After a long while, she awkwardly apologized.

"I'm sorry... I... I got cheated on, and I'm in a bad mood, so I took it out on you. It was my fault. Can you not call the police?"

"No, everyone must face the consequences of their actions! Including those who spread rumors on the internet!"

As the voice fell, Queenie directly dialed -9-1-1 in front of the video-recording crowd and briefly explained the situation.

Soon after the police arrived and took the disruptive woman away.
Accompanied by Manley, Queenie went to the police station to give a statement and cooperate with the investigation.

Before leaving, she looked earnestly at Jenna.
"Ms. Taylor, thank you for the invitation. Your invitation sounds very tempting. However, when faced with difficulties, shrinking back and finding another place to hide, pretending that nothing happened, I... I don't think I can ever get over that hurdle in my heart. So, Ms. Taylor, I can't temporarily join your tutoring institute. If I really want to leave my school in the future, we can work together then."

"Okay, but please don't call me Ms. Taylor. Next time we meet, you can call me Jenna."
Queenie nodded and got into Manley's car.

Just as the car arrived at the entrance of the police station, Queenie saw another familiar car.
It was the Clancy villa's car.

She furrowed her brows, then saw the driver open the door and push Benoit out.

Queenie was surprised, "Why did you come here?"
Benoit held her hand and solemnly asked, "If my wife came to the police station, how could I not come?"
Queenie chuckled, "But we have Manley, right?"
"Manley is Manley, and I am me! Are we the same?" Benoit's voice sounded slightly annoyed.
Queenie felt her heart fill up, "Alright, alright, if you want to come, then come. I was just afraid you would find it troublesome."
"I will never find your matters troublesome."

Saying that Benoit accompanied Queenie to the police station to give a statement and then sent her back to her apartment to rest.

The whole day had been like a roller coaster for Queenie, and she felt a bit exhausted as she laid on her soft bed and quickly fell asleep, comfortably.

At the same time, Shipley was not as relaxed. He was crouched on a branch in a fir tree, trembling as he called Simms.

"Old... Simms, help... help me..."
"What happened?" The man on the other end of the phone had a steady voice.
"General... Benoit that bastard brought the General to my house."

Shipley tightly held onto the trunk of the fir tree, looking at the Tibetan Mastiff howling at the ground, his heart trembling with fear.

Who didn't know that the General was raised by Benoit and was the most ferocious animal in all of Coast City?
And a little bit stubborn too.

"I can't help with that," Simms responded in a calm voice. "And by the way, how did you offend Benoit? As far as I know, he hasn't let out the General in a long time."

"I... I just kicked him, made him kneel, that's all!"
"Just that," Simms said meaningfully and then hung up the phone directly.
