Chapter 49 Queenie, Can I Apply a Few Times a Week?

After finishing the meal, Queenie took the initiative to bring up a new topic, "Thank you for buying me so many clothes."

"Buying clothes for my wife is something I should do," Benoit said, bowing his head and continuing to tinker with the toothpick without knowing what he was doing.

The wooden box was about two inches high, and Queenie couldn't see what he was doing, so she continued talking about clothes.

"I recognize some of the brands of the clothes, and they seem quite expensive. That whole wardrobe..."

"I got them from someone else," Benoit casually replied.

"Huh?" Queenie was momentarily stunned.

Benoit explained with a completely natural look, "A clothing distributor owes me money. Since I stepped down, he's no longer afraid of me and refuses to pay me back. I can only take his clothes as payment."

"Oh." Upon hearing Benoit's explanation, Queenie felt a strange ache in her heart and couldn't help but suggest, "Those clothes should be able to be sold and exchanged for some money. Or, next time, instead of taking clothes from him, take something else of value that can be turned into cash..."
Before Queenie could finish her sentence, Benoit interrupted her.

"Queenie!"

Queenie looked up in astonishment and saw Benoit speaking seriously.

"I, Lu Benoit, still have the ability to buy a few clothes for my wife."

"I... that's not what I meant."

Feeling flustered from being misunderstood, Queenie hadn't had a chance to say anything when she saw Benoit taking out a few cherries from behind the wooden box, presenting them one by one in front of her.

Each heart-shaped cherry was pierced with a toothpick, inscribed with the words:
Lu, Tai, Tai, Happy, Birthday!

In a split second, Queenie felt her heart fill to the brim.
So, Benoit had been engraving words on the cherries all along.

Benoit looked at Queenie's stunned expression and pushed the cherries forward, his desire to win very strong, saying, "I can also engrave words. As long as you like it, I can learn."

Queenie was touched and amused at the same time.
She looked at Benoit, took a deep breath, and prepared to say what she had in her heart, but she didn't expect Benoit to speak at the same time.

"Queenie, let me pursue you."

"Benoit, let's date."

As their voices fell, both of them froze.

With a click, Joseph Martinez pushed open the door to the ward and walked in. Upon hearing their words, he, too, was caught off guard.

He sneered and tugged at the corner of his mouth, "Little girl, you want to date this heartless scoundrel?"

Benoit shot him a sharp glare and said, "Joseph, shut up! Don't speak, don't ever speak. Just get out!"
Joseph was immediately excited and pointed at him to complain to Queenie, "Little girl, you see, this person is so disrespectful to the elderly. You shouldn't date him. You should date my son instead. My son is much more polite than him."

"Joseph! Are you looking for death? She is my wife!" Benoit was so angry that he almost stood up to punch someone.

Joseph Martinez widened his eyes dramatically and looked at Queenie, "Oh, I see! So you're the one who married the unlucky Benoit."

Queenie awkwardly nodded and smiled.

Joseph shook his head sadly, "Ah, such a beautiful flower, and it's stuck on this smelly and hard piece of rock. It's such a pity!"

Benoit's gaze became cold, as if he wanted to bury Joseph Martinez. "What are you doing here? If you have nothing to do, then leave!"

Joseph Martinez enjoyed seeing the old man lose his temper and spoke to Benoit with a headmaster-like attitude, "As the dean of this hospital and your attending physician, why do you think I came here? I am here to care for you, of course."

Queenie quickly asked, "Dean, how is Benoit's health? Why did he faint this morning?"

Benoit, who prided himself on his excellent physical condition, explained hastily upon hearing his wife bring up his embarrassing incident from the morning, "I didn't faint, I... I just slept too deeply."

"Oh, stop lying to your wife!" Joseph Martinez sighed, "Your body is weak, that's why you fainted. These are all symptoms from the car accident. I thought I had treated you well before, so how did this suddenly happen? After careful consideration, there is only one reason."

Queenie quickly asked, "What reason?"

"Excessive indulgence!" Joseph Martinez said solemnly.

Upon hearing this, Benoit wanted to not only bury Joseph Martinez, but this whole family too.

Meanwhile, Queenie's face turned hot again as she awkwardly looked at the ground.

Joseph Martinez patted Benoit's shoulder, "You're getting older... almost in your thirties. Add the car accident, and you're not as good as before. You have to take it easy. I just heard you two talking about dating. That's good, but let's not rush into that. Just hold hands for now. Isn't that nice?"

With that, Joseph Martinez looked at Queenie, "Don't listen to this old man all the time. He needs to take better care of his body."

After finishing, Joseph almost laughed out loud and found an excuse to leave.

He felt so satisfied in his heart!

Calculating against this old man for no reason!

Ridiculous!

After Joseph Martinez left, the ward became quiet again.

Queenie felt awkward for a while before she took the initiative to walk up to Benoit, and with her head lowered, she asked, "Are your words still valid?"

Benoit didn't react immediately, and Queenie took a deep breath.

"Benoit, I want to be in a relationship with you, to be with you seriously, like lovers. I want to move on from being strangers to understanding each other. We are equals. You are Benoit, not someone's Mr. Clancy, and I am Queenie, not someone's fiancée. Let's slowly build our own memories, for one year, two years, three years, ten years, okay?"

Benoit reached out and pulled her onto his lap, his voice deep as he said, "Yes, but Queenie, I have no experience, so you'll have to teach me. However,..."

Benoit intentionally paused, his lips brushing against Queenie's cheek, "However... when it comes to relationships, it should still be the man who takes the initiative. So, just wait to be pursued by me."

Saying that, Benoit's lips were about to touch Queenie's.

Click. Joseph Martinez opened the door again and burst in.

"Young lady, I forgot to remind you. Don't rush to accept older men like Benoit, who pursue you. Look, smooth-talking as he is, no one kisses on the first day. You can't fall for his tricks. I risked my life to remind you of this."

After speaking, Joseph slipped away again.

Queenie burst into laughter.

She could sense the good relationship between the dean and Benoit.

At this moment, Benoit's lips were about to descend again, and Queenie quickly stood up to avoid it.

"The dean is right. If you want to pursue me, you have to respect me. No touching. Relationships start from zero."

Benoit's expression froze.

Queenie smiled, "I'll push you over to the bed to rest."

Saying that, Queenie took the initiative to take care of Benoit, pushing his wheelchair to the bedside and helping him onto the bed.

As soon as Benoit lay down, he reached out and pulled Queenie, embracing his wife in his arms, his chest against her back, satisfied as he rested his chin on her shoulder. "Queenie, stay with me tonight."

Queenie hesitated, "Didn't we just agree to be in a relationship?"

"Well, can't we be in a relationship and spend the night together?" Benoit said matter-of-factly, holding onto Queenie's soft body even tighter, as if wanting to merge her into his own.

Queenie's neck was tickled, squirming like a caterpillar, laughing as she explained, "Of course, we can't! Benoit... don't do this..."

"Don't move." Benoit's body stiffened, his voice revealing a hint of huskiness.

He didn't dare do anything in the hospital room. Who knew if that old bastard Joseph would barge in.

Benoit really wanted to tear Joseph apart.
