Chapter 98 Queenie’s Medical Report
Lilith had just finished dinner. She was applying a face mask when she heard her daughter's accusation, causing her mask to fall off in shock. She quickly rushed out the door, looking around anxiously. Realizing that nobody was around, she let out a sigh of relief and pulled Barbara Clancy into the room, closing the door behind them to reprimand her.
"What nonsense are you shouting about? What if your father hears it?" Lilith scolded.
Barbara Clancy wasn't entirely foolish and, seeing her mother's reaction, already had a vague idea of what had happened. Tears that had been lingering in her eyes finally fell uncontrollably.
"Why? Why would you do such a thing?" Barbara Clancy asked through her tears.
Seeing her daughter cry, Lilith felt a tug at her heartstrings. "Barbara, listen to me. Things are not as you think."
"What do you mean? Tell me!" Barbara Clancy demanded, her tone forceful. "I want to hear it from you. Is your explanation different from what the high society people say? If they're wrongfully accusing you, I'll tear apart their mouths one by one tomorrow. I won't allow anyone to bully my mommy!"
Lilith was taken aback, wanting to refute her daughter's words. But she was afraid of Barbara Clancy's temperament and her ability to follow through with her words, potentially causing a rift in the entire high society circle. She didn't want to tarnish her reputation to the point where no potential prospects would be willing to accept her.
At this moment, Lilith hated Queenie immensely. If Queenie hadn't exposed Lilith's actions publicly, she wouldn't have been forced to admit to the truth at that time.
Contemplating the pros and cons, Lilith finally spoke calmly, "Yes, I did it. And as for why you're asking, deep down, you also know, don't you?"
Barbara was shocked by the response. "Mommy, what's the real difference in our lives? I truly don't understand. Even if Dad wasn't the chairman, the monthly dividends he and my older brother receive would be enough for our family to live decently. Why did you..."
"Why Because I want power! I want to be the matriarch of the Clancy family! I want my relatives to treat me with respect! I want every wealthy person in Coast City to bow their heads and flatter me! I just can't stand Mr. Clancy's perpetual arrogance and his dismissive attitude towards others! Who does he think he is!" Lilith exclaimed passionately.
Barbara Clancy was shocked into silence, her lips trembling for a while before she finally spoke. "Mommy, how could you become like this? If you want power, you can encourage Dad and my brother to strive for it. But you... How could you use such dirty means to frame Mr. Clancy? How can my brother face you? How can I face Queenie?"
Shaking her head, Barbara Clancy added, "My brother will never forgive you."
Lilith sneered and took out a document from the drawer. "As for your brother's future..."
"I would only be grateful to you! I am just helping him make a decision! Do you think I want to do this? Do you think I don't consider Queenie as a daughter-in-law? But the fact remains that she is simply not suitable to be a part of the Clancy family!"
Barbara Clancy furrowed her brows and picked up the file that Lilith had thrown on the bed. She took a look at it.
It was a medical examination report!
The diagnosis on the report stated Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and difficulty in getting pregnant. It further recommended prompt treatment at the Department of Infertility and Reproductive Medicine.
Barbara Clancy staggered backward, her face turning pale as she looked at Lilith. "Mommy, how do you have this medical report? This involves personal privacy. How could you have it?"
"A few months ago, Queenie's biological mother, Gilda, met me and gave it to me. Barbara, don't you think Queenie is a failure as a person? Her own mother betrayed her! Can I feel at ease handing over my outstanding son to someone like her? Moreover, Queenie knew about it but deliberately concealed her health condition. It was a deception!"
