Chapter 69 Mr. Clancy's Immodesty
In an instant, Queenie's cheeks turned red, too embarrassed to look up at Benoit. "Then I should apologize to Mrs. Clancy. You were scared when we were together for the first time, right? That was my fault."
Queenie pursed her lips and replied in a soft voice, "No...there's no need to apologize."
"It's none of your business," Queenie said.
"No, it's my fault. I didn't let you fall in love with it the next two times. I did a bad job and I need to continue to work hard," Benoit replied.
Hearing this, Queenie's cheeks turned hot and she lowered her head even lower.
She quickly reached out to cover Benoit's mouth. "Please don't say anymore."
Benoit pulled her hand away and gently pecked her flushed cheek, a playful smile on his face.
"Mrs. Clancy, don't worry, I'll take care of this. I will be responsible for healing your psychological issues in the future."
Queenie didn't want to see anyone anymore.
She regretted confessing to Benoit, but then again, she didn't really regret it.
After this heart-to-heart conversation with Benoit, Queenie felt that she had a deeper understanding of him and her fondness for him continued to climb.
Especially the phrase "In your eyes, I, Benoit, appear to be such a shallow man," it hit her heart like a blow!
Benoit naturally had no idea what Queenie was thinking, and instead took out a specially made keychain to give to her.
It was a palm-sized "flashlight," easy to grip and could be hung on a keychain, making it very convenient to carry around.
"Queenie, keep this for now. After we return to the apartment, I'll teach you some basic self-defense techniques."
Queenie played with the "flashlight" and asked, "Is this for illumination?"
"No, this is a specially made stun baton for your self-defense," Benoit replied.
Upon hearing "stun baton," Queenie was startled. "But what if it electrocutes someone to death?"
"I'll take responsibility for that!" Benoit's voice was resolute, sounding almost like a promise.
Queenie's heart skipped a beat, feeling captivated again.
She played with the "mini stun baton" in her hand and asked in disbelief, "This really won't kill anyone, right?"
"No, trust me! It'll just give a tingling sensation after the electric current passes through, temporarily immobilizing the other person and giving you time to escape."
"Oh, I see."
As the conversation ended, Manley happened to knock on the door and walked in, seeing Queenie giving Benoit a slight shock with the "specially made stun baton."
Crack! An intense electric current ran through half of Benoit's body, causing his face to change color.
But seeing Queenie looking at him expectantly, he suppressed the pain and raised an eyebrow, insisting, "See, I didn't lie to you. This stun baton isn't very uncomfortable."
"Oh, indeed," Queenie nodded in agreement.
Manley's lips quivered, trying not to burst into laughter.
Benoit was about to yell just now, but then hesitated. It was so funny!
If the brothers in the hall knew, they would die laughing.
That special stun baton could instantly make a 200-pound pig faint.
Benoit, on the other hand, managed to endure without making a sound. Truly impressive!
After quietly laughing to herself, Manley came in to report, and the doctor instructed Queenie to undergo a physical examination. Queenie followed the nurse out to do the examination. After a thorough examination, no issues were found, so she was discharged.
The next morning, it was Queenie's turn to give a lecture. She performed excellently and received a high score of 9.5.
With the highest score in the written exam and practical teaching, all that was left was to conquer the afternoon interview and win the top prize in the city competition.
In the afternoon, Queenie confidently walked onto the stage, and Benoit, who was a special guest in the audience, waved to her. This scene caught the attention of Mary, who was watching the surveillance footage, causing her expression to turn sour and dark.
During the competition, the judges asked Queenie several questions, and she answered them all fluently. When it came to the last question, one judge looked at the information in his hand and raised his doubts.
"Ms. Lorente, your professional performance has been outstanding. You should rightfully take first place in the competition. However, our competition committee has also received an anonymous complaint regarding you."
