Chapter 127 Lilith's Arrest
"Yes, I have evidence," Melissa swallowed nervously. "Because I was afraid that Lilith would go back on her word and not give my husband the project, I secretly recorded our conversation and had her sign a project guarantee."
Queenie and the lawyer exchanged an excited glance.
With concrete evidence in hand, Queenie made a call to Benoit.
"Honey, I want the police to arrest my sister-in-law. Although she might not get a long sentence, I want to teach her a lesson. What do you think?"
"You have the final say," Benoit replied decisively.
Queenie was taken aback for a moment and cautiously asked, "Aren't you afraid of disrupting the harmony in our family?"
Benoit chuckled softly, his voice filled with indulgence. "Nothing is more important than you. Harmony requires effort from both sides. Letting things escalate without consequence won't solve anything."
"Yes, that's what I mean. If we don't stop her, Lilith will only become more and more insane. Honey, should I make another call to Grandpa, no, to Dad?"
Benoit chuckled lightly. "Queenie, it's good that you thought of asking for Dad's opinion. Thank you for considering my parents' feelings in handling this matter. Go ahead, give Prescott a call."
With Benoit's approval, Queenie called Prescott and briefly explained Lilith's recent behavior.
"Dad, I want to involve the police in handling this matter. What do you think?"
There was a long silence on the other end of the phone, and after a while, Prescott sighed.
"Marriage to such a daughter-in-law is unfortunate for the family."
Queenie listened quietly, feeling a hint of disappointment in her heart.
She could almost anticipate Prescott's next words. He would likely say, "But with a harmonious family, everything will be fine." After all, as an elder, that was what they hoped for.
The atmosphere at home was harmonious. But in the next moment, the voice of determination from Prescott came through the phone.
"Queenie, you're both my daughters-in-law. I won't favor anyone. Do whatever you want to do!"
Queenie was taken aback by the unexpected response, then joyfully replied, "Dad, thank you."
"You're welcome, my child. You've been through a difficult time recently."
With just a simple sentence, Queenie was nearly moved to tears. She had never experienced this feeling of being protected at her parents' home!
Taking a deep breath, Queenie looked firmly at Kate and said, "Let's get to the bottom of this."
"Alright!" Kate nodded.
Soon, with solid evidence, the police began their arrest operation.
Queenie, Kate, and two accompanying officers arrived at the Clancy family's Clancy Villa.
The officers barged into the living room and presented their identification to Lilith who was drinking coffee. "Hello, is this Ms. Lilith? These are our credentials. We would like you to cooperate with the investigation regarding a framing and entrapment case."
When Lilith saw Queenie and Kate, her face changed instantly. Upon hearing the explanation from the police, she was so scared that her coffee cup slipped from her hand, making a sharp sound as it hit the floor.
"What... What framing and entrapment case? I have no idea," Lilith panicked and told her servant, "Go, quickly call Prescott down."
The servant hesitated, "Mr. Clancy went fishing and said he didn't bring his phone. He doesn't want to be disturbed."
Upon hearing this, Lilith sat down on the sofa, looking stunned, and stared at Queenie. "It's you! You were the one who called Prescott earlier."
Queenie didn't deny it and walked directly towards Lilith.
"We're family, and I don't want to tear our faces apart. I'll give you one more chance. Call Pollard and his father, admit to them what you've done to me, and apologize to me right now. If you do that, I won't pursue this any further and will agree to a settlement."
"Don't even think about it!" Lilith stared fiercely at Queenie.
Queenie shrugged. "Well, then we'll have to trust that the authorities will handle it fairly."
Saying that, Queenie took a few steps back.
The officers approached to take Lilith away.
Lilith reacted aggressively. "Don't touch me! I am Mrs. Clancy! Let's see who dares to touch me! My husband is the chairman of Clancy Group. If you touch me, you're a dead man!"
"Madam, please cooperate! If you continue like this, we'll have to handcuff you!" one of the officers warned, pulling out handcuffs.
Lilith refused to cooperate and desperately fought back against the officers. "Get away! I'll sue you for assault! Don't touch me!"
The officers had no choice but to restrain Lilith's hands behind her back and, with a click, handcuffed her.
In the next moment, a familiar male voice echoed in the living room.
"What are you doing?"
Queenie was startled. She turned her head to the living room door where a man in a capable apricot windbreaker, carrying a rolling suitcase, stood against the light.
It was Pollard!
He was back!
