Chapter 105 Draw My Blood
Several rookie doctors and a rookie military doctor with the team gathered around, their eyes wide, fixed on Henry, with visible bloodshot eyes.
Henry's eyes twitched. These people were practically popping their eyes out. He opened the deluxe first aid kit, which also contained simple blood typing equipment.
Blood typing was straightforward. He remembered it clearly from his military training. He had even tested his blood type, so he was confident. He had also discreetly confirmed that the blood types here were the same as on Earth, and Earth's blood type antibodies worked here, too.
"Human blood types can be divided into four categories: A, B, AB, and O."
While Henry spoke, he swiftly retrieved two bottles of blood typing reagents from the first aid kit, one blue (anti-A) and one yellow (anti-B).
"These are blood typing reagents, the most crucial for determining blood type. There are only two types: anti-A and anti-B."
Many people were confused when they heard about the mysteries of blood for the first time. They had never heard of such knowledge before.
The rookie doctors, their lips trembling with excitement, hurriedly took out parchment and fumbled with a quill, quickly jotting down notes.
Henry, seeing this, raised an eyebrow. It seemed he should start selling some of his research.
After the doctors finished writing, Henry took out two glass slides from the first aid kit, causing the others to hold their breath. They mistook the glass slides for crystals.
Without explaining, Henry calmly said, "You don't have to use these. Ceramic tiles can also work."
The doctors relaxed. If blood typing required crystals, they probably couldn't afford even a small piece.
Henry took out a clean cloth from the first aid kit, then wrote 'A' and 'B' on it with a pen, and placed the glass slides on top of the respective letters.
"This is to determine Emerson's blood type."
The inexperienced doctors scrambled to take notes, eager to capture every move Henry made.
Henry then dropped the blue anti-A serum on the 'A' slide and the yellow anti-B serum on the 'B' slide and removed a needle from the first aid kit.
"Now comes the most crucial step, blood type determination."
Henry looked at Emerson lying on the bed, his fingers dirty. He pricked Emerson's earlobe, collecting two drops of blood on the glass slides.
After a while, the blood on the 'A' slide coagulated.
"The blood on the 'A' slide has coagulated, so Emerson's blood type is A. Now we need to find out who has blood type A and can donate blood to save him."
Henry held up the 'A' slide. He had no idea about the potential complications after the transfusion.
The rookie doctors craned their necks, looking at the blood on the two slides. Indeed, the blood on the 'A' slide had coagulated, while the blood on the 'B' slide remained liquid.
Any doubts in their minds instantly vanished, and they were so excited that they seemed to have gone mad.
"Check mine, use my blood."
Charles shouted, pulling out a military knife, rolling up his sleeve, and gesturing with the knife. "Henry, how much blood do you need? I'll give it to you now."
"You fool, put down the knife!" Henry shouted, "Do you also want to lose too much blood and need a transfusion?"
David slapped the back of Charles's head, making Henry's eyelids twitch. At this rate, would Charles end up being a fool?
"Charles, what's gotten into you? Didn't you see that only a drop or two of blood was needed just now?" David scolded.
"I got a little carried away!" Charles sheepishly put away the knife.
Emerson and Charles had a good relationship, so the news that Emerson could be saved got Charles too excited.
"Come on, some of you, please come and assist." Henry retrieved additional glass slides from the medical kit and passed them to the physicians.
"Yes!"
The doctors tremblingly took the glass slides and, following Henry's example, wrote 'A' and 'B' on the cloth. Then, they dropped the blood serum and proceeded to test David and the others.
Henry looked at David's test results. The blood on the 'B' slide had coagulated, indicating that David had blood type B.
Charles happened to be blood type A. Their different blood types meant that their parents had different blood types, with one possibly inheriting the blood type from the father and the other from the mother.
"Henry, why didn't my two blood samples coagulate?" Mila's voice sounded a bit disappointed.
Henry turned to see Mila holding two glass slides, looking at him with a dejected expression. Could it be that the blood of orcs was really different from that of humans?
A hint of surprise flashed in Henry's eyes, and he chuckled, "If the blood types on both sides don't coagulate, then it's blood type O, just like mine."
"Really? The same blood as Henry?" Mila stared at him with her watery blue eyes, hoping she hadn't misheard.
"Yes!" Henry nodded affirmatively.
Mila laughed happily. It was great that she had the same blood type as Henry.
"The blood on both sides of the glass slides has coagulated. Is it blood type AB?" a doctor asked, feeling unsure.
"Yes."
Henry nodded. All four blood types had been tested, and Charles was one of the type A.
"Henry, take my blood, take mine!" Charles shouted.
Henry nodded and instructed, "Bring a bed over and raise it a bit."
Looking at the eager Charles and the worried David, Henry smiled and said, "Don't worry; it's fine for a healthy person to lose a little blood. It will even make you healthier, of course, as long as you're healthy and not anemic."
Henry couldn't help but shudder and said to the doctors, "If a strong young man loses a pound of blood, it can be life-threatening, so never think that bloodletting can cure the disease."
"Understood!"
