Chapter 85 The Sale of Low-Priced Salt
"Let's go! The market is bustling with other orcs," Ellie mumbled through a mouthful of hamburger.
Emily's eyes widened in delight as she took a bite of the hamburger.
The softness, the aroma of wheat, and the subtle sweetness overwhelmed her senses. It was the most delicious thing she had ever tasted, surpassing even the meat of the prey she had hunted in the tribe.
She mumbled, savoring every morsel.
Emily's mouth occasionally emitted alluring sounds of satisfaction, drawing peculiar glances from passersby.
"Emily, stop making those strange sounds! You're attracting all sorts of attention with your erotic moans." Ellie whispered, and her cheeks flushed slightly
Emily, with half-closed eyes, licked the crumbs off her hand, puzzled. "But isn't it normal to make sounds when you enjoy food?"
Ellie coughed, "Well, it's fine, but..." She couldn't help but think of Henry cleaning Mila's ears.
"Just don't make those sounds." Ellie pouted, her face red.
"Alright!" Emily nodded in agreement, then took a bite of a vegetarian mushroom hamburger, thinking this one might be even tastier. She opened her mouth and took a bite.
The mushroom had a slightly salty taste and was bursting with delicious juices. When combined with the soft hamburger bun, it was simply a delightful experience.
With a satisfied expression on her face, Emily continued to eat one after another, especially when she tried the pork hamburger.
"This is amazing, a culinary masterpiece, so delicious!" Emily's mouth was full, and she was unable to stop herself; this meat hamburger was several times tastier than bread.
Ellie really left speechless. Just when Emily had agreed not to say anything, in the blink of an eye, her promise crumbled over a hamburger.
"Wait until you try Willow's meat hamburger, then you'll understand that what you're eating now is just average." Ellie licked her lips, ranking the meat hamburger third after the Roasted Vegetable Salad and lollipop.
"Is there something even more delicious than this?" Emily stared at Ellie with expectant, slightly flushed eyes.
For commoners, how big could the filling of a meat hamburger be? A hamburger the size of a fist with a meat filling the size of a thumb was the most delicious food in Emily's eyes.
"Of course, don't you know? One of the most famous places in Eldoria is the Lord's Manor for its cuisine." Ellie boasted, her tail wagging with pride.
From the moment she woke up until now, Emily had experienced things beyond her imagination. The meat hamburger she had never eaten before was now considered ordinary compared to what awaited her.
"We're here! This is the entrance to the big market," Ellie said, pointing at the gate in front of them.
As they walked and chatted, the two friends arrived at the big market without realizing it. People were constantly coming and going, with a group of children gathered at the entrance.
"There are so many people here." Emily felt a bit shy; it was her first time seeing so many people in one place.
"This is actually considered few; on the opening day, there were many more people," Ellie explained.
Ellie led Emily to the entrance of the big market, where they saw four orc security guards patrolling with wooden sticks.
"Ellie, are you buying lollipops again?" one of the orc guards called out to Ellie, running over excitedly.
Emily widened her eyes, surprised at how imposing the orc guards in their unique uniforms were.
"Don't climb up there; it's dangerous; come down quickly."
The orc guard who had just greeted them noticed a few naughty children climbing the building's support beams and hurried over to shoo them away.
The parents of the children thanked the orc guard with smiles and then took their children home, either to educate them with a wooden stick or a shoe sole, depending on their family's preference.
Everything seemed harmonious as if the orc guards were just another part of the human community. Ellie was also amazed when she first saw this.
Sullivan said, "Ellie, I knew you would come over. Just now, Henry bought a lot of lollipops from me; they must be for you. Henry is really nice to you."
Sullivan, the lollipop seller, shouted and then glanced around smugly. Her eyes seemed to say, "I know Ellie, who is close to Henry. Be polite to me in the future, and don't think about stealing lollipops..."
Ellie's face turned red instantly, grabbing Emily's hand and running away. She didn't want to stay there any longer, fearing that Sullivan might start spreading rumors about her trying to steal a kiss from Henry.
"Ellie, who were they just now?" Emily asked knowingly, hoping to get a clear answer from Ellie.
"It's Sullivan and the orc guards." Ellie chuckled, "I used to be just like you, not trusting humans, especially the nobles. But after meeting Henry, everything changed."
"I only trust Henry, this noble, and the people in the Lord's Manor. As for the others, well..."
"Sullivan and the others work for Henry. They receive wages like humans and can rent houses with it."
"Sullivan even told me she's saving up slowly to buy a house in the neighborhood."
Emily listened quietly to Ellie's explanation, her eyes shimmering with an unprecedented light. She wondered if the orc tribes in the tribe could also find work in Eldoria and support themselves.
"Look, Henry is about to take the stage," Ellie said, pulling Emily's distracted attention and pointing to a small platform ahead.
Emily refocused and looked up to see a charming human on stage, dressed in magnificent clothes even more luxurious than hers. She sensed a refined air about him that others lacked.
Emily thought, 'He is Henry, whom Ellie always talks about, a special nobleman, right? Is he the one who saved my life?'
As Henry took the stage, he noticed a pair of long, trembling ears in the crowd, a distinctive feature that caught his attention. Following the ears down, he saw the Bunny Girl holding a struggling fox-eared girl.
He nodded in their direction as a greeting, then turned his gaze back to the gathering crowd and announced, "I am Henry, your Lord. Today, I am here to announce that low-priced salt is now available for purchase."
"Bring your Social Security Card, and you can buy a pound of rock salt for five copper coins."
"For Eldoria residents without Social Security Card, please go to the administrative office to get one."
