Chapter 77 Registered Identification
Vincent stared at the transparent crystal glass in front of him, filled with a bubbling black drink.
He never expected the Lord to bring such a precious cup. Was this the luxury of a noble life?
Kyle placed a ceramic cup in front of Vincent. Then, noticing his father lost in thought, he lightly kicked the chair with his foot.
Seeing his son winking at him, Vincent quickly handed the ceramic cup to Willow.
Willow poured the contents of the iron can into the ceramic cup and softly reminded, "Don't take too big a sip for the first mouthful."
"Got it!" Vincent took the cup with both hands, looking at the bubbling, slightly transparent black drink inside. Vincent thought, 'Could I drink this? How does it grow like this?'
Henry had already witnessed Vincent's hesitation before. When the three girls next to him first drank it, they had the same reaction.
Henry took a big sip, having visited seven or eight houses, he was indeed a bit thirsty.
Vincent saw even Henry had drunk it, so he would drink down this black drink, even if it were poison.
As the sweet, fizzy liquid hit his tongue, Vincent was taken aback.
Henry chuckled and then handed the half-full cup to Mila, who hesitated before eventually taking a sip. The three girls must have been thirsty.
Mila was about to refuse, but the cup was forcefully placed into her hands. She couldn't say no to Henry, so she took the cup. The three of them each took a sip.
Willow brought out a can, originally intended for Henry. To their surprise, all three ended up drinking from it, warming their hearts.
Vincent, moved by the scene, was especially touched. Henry had only taken a sip himself and had generously shared a large cup with him. Vincent realized he had a great lord; he would have to work hard to repay such kindness.
However, Kyle discreetly took away the ceramic cup from which he had only taken a small sip. Vincent glared in anger, deciding that after Henry left if he weren't left even a sip, no, three sips, he would enforce some family rules. One sip for his grandson, one for his wife, and one for his daughter-in-law.
Henry cleared his throat. "Vincent, there shouldn't be any issues with housing, right?"
"No, no issues at all. Everyone is very happy. Once the identity registration is completed, we can move in." Vincent replied quickly.
"How is the execution of the Social Security Card going? Is everything proceeding smoothly?" Henry inquired about the issue that concerned him.
The Social Security Card was proof of his people's citizenship, and this time, they took the opportunity during the housing allocation to finalize it, making future management and population surveys easier.
In this era, the Social Security Card created by Henry were, of course, not as sophisticated as those on Earth, with photos and such. The material was also hard to damage.
Henry's first-generation Social Security Card was a wooden sign with a paper detailing their name, gender, address, social security number, and a crucial verification code.
The verification code is used to prevent someone from forging a Social Security Card. Professionals can use a password book to verify the authenticity of the Social Security Card.
The characters on the card are not written on but printed on using movable type printing technology with over a thousand engraved characters. The ink brought by Henry from Earth is used. This is the first generation of Social Security Card in Eldoria.
"No problem at all, everyone is very happy, saying that they feel like they have an identity." Vincent happily reported. He had applied for his Social Security Card two days ago.
He knew how important the card was. In the future, to buy wheat or the yet-to-be-released rock salt, you needed a social security card. Without one, the amount you could purchase was limited.
For example, those without a card could only buy three pounds of wheat at a time, while residents with a card could buy ten pounds at once.
The restrictions for rock salt were even stricter. Those without a social security card could only buy one or two ounces, while those with a social security card could buy a pound.
Henry implemented these measures to prevent the resale of wheat and rock salt. Although these goods were cheap in Eldoria, they might not have been in other cities. If someone bought large quantities to sell in different territories, it could lead to a market collapse.
The rock salt had been stored for three days, waiting for the implementation of the Social Security Card. With the autumn harvest just a few days away, preparations needed to be completed.
"Keep a close eye on everything. I don't want any issues at a critical moment." Henry reminded sternly. In a couple of days, he would release the rock salt into the market.
"Yes!" Vincent replied seriously. He was now actively involved in many plans and no longer an outsider. After all, he had shared a meal at the same table with Henry.
"I won't disturb you with the moving process." Henry said as he got up to leave.
Vincent respectfully escorted him downstairs, then hurried back home. Shortly after, a scream could be heard from his house.
Henry, who hadn't gone far, chuckled softly, "Vincent, the old man is really going strong."
"I bet Mr. Kyle couldn't resist either!" Willow chuckled. Her father, Wyatt, had also succumbed to the drink the first time, finishing it in just a few sips before being sent to the study to sleep by her mother.
"It's really delicious, can even rank second after grits," Mila remarked earnestly.
"Yes, it can be placed after the Roasted Vegetable Salad and lollipops," Ellie nodded, jotting down notes in her notebook.
'There will be even more delicious things in the future,' Henry silently promised to himself.
It is said that the next day, Mr. Kyle went to school with a piece of cloth covering his face.
