Chapter 168 All the World's Delicacies in the Lord's Manor
Surprised? Riley was taken aback. What kind of charm would make a noble give up their title and settle here?
Despite the jovial appearance of the man beside him, Brandon was actually quite proud. If it weren't for his personal experience, he wouldn't have moved to Eldoria.
"Let's go upstairs," Brandon said, leading the way.
To Riley's amazement, Brandon took out a small iron piece and inserted it into the door handle.
The door opened, revealing a staircase. They ascended to the second floor.
"Come in, this is my home," Brandon said, stepping inside.
Riley replied, "Okay!"
Taking off their shoes at the entrance was a bit strange, but Riley followed suit. Walking barefoot on the smooth wooden floor felt surprisingly comfortable.
Looking around, Riley noticed the exquisite room, with smooth walls and several paintings.
"Welcome back," Brandon's wife, whom Riley knew, greeted with a smile. "Welcome, Riley."
"Sorry for the intrusion," Riley quickly bowed.
"Didn't we still have some meat hamburgers left for lunch? Warm them up and bring two bottles of oat beer," Brandon ordered.
"Sure," his wife replied.
Brandon sat at the dining table and gestured for Riley to join him.
"This house is beautiful, isn't it?" Brandon said.
"It's gorgeous, even more so than many lord's mansions," Riley praised.
"I think so too," Brandon laughed. "There are only a few houses like this in Eldoria."
"Really?" Riley was astonished. "There are more?"
"There are probably seven or eight, but you need connections to get them," Brandon said with a smile.
"They must be expensive."
Riley's eyes sparkled at the thought of living in such a comfortable and elegant house.
"It is indeed quite expensive. I spent five gold coins on this one," Brandon nodded, feeling that he had spent most of his savings.
"Wow..." Riley gasped. It was too expensive. He couldn't afford it even if he sold his knight's honor, his armor, and his horse.
"The hamburgers are ready, along with the oat beer," Brandon's wife said as she placed the items on the table. Then she excused herself to leave the men to their conversation.
"Isn't it worth it?" Brandon looked around the house. He had been in a great mood these past few days, sleeping until he naturally woke up, then going out to stroll, buy some lollipops, or eat a few hamburgers.
"Indeed," Riley nodded. He thought of his fiancée, Victoria. If they had a house like this, maybe she would forgive him for missing the wedding.
"Come, try the meat hamburger. It's a delicacy exclusive to Eldoria," Brandon said, pouring oat beer into their cups.
"Hamburger?" Riley looked at the large plate of white, round objects on the table.
"Give it a try. You'll love it," Brandon said, taking a bite of a meat hamburger. Despite having eaten it many times, he still found it delicious.
Riley picked up the meat hamburger, and his eyes lit up. It was the most delicious food he had ever tasted in his life.
"Delicious, right?" Brandon smiled, remembering how he felt when he first tried it.
"Very delicious," Riley said, reaching for another one.
"Hey, leave one for me. I haven't had dinner yet," Brandon said, seeing Riley devouring the hamburgers.
"Mr. Brandon, you're as fat as a pig. You should eat less," Riley retorted.
"I'm fat, but I didn't eat at your place. And hey, you're talking with a mouthful of hamburger. You'll choke," Brandon exclaimed, dumbfounded.
"I'll have you know, back when I was a knight, I was the best at food snatching," Riley said, his mouth full, even making sounds as he chewed.
Brandon's mouth opened in surprise, and he stared at Riley, feeling a hint of envy.
"I'm so full..." Riley ate too much and slumped in his chair, still holding a hamburger.
"Give me that hamburger," Brandon said, eyeing the last one.
"Sure," Riley said, and then suddenly sneezed.
"Here," Riley said, handing the hamburger, now covered in his saliva, to Brandon, who was reaching out for it.
"You..." Brandon said, his mouth twitching, as he reluctantly withdrew his hand.
He decided that next time he bought hamburgers, he would definitely not invite this guy over. His appetite was just too ferocious.
"This thing called a hamburger, is it really only available in Eldoria?" Riley asked, stuffing the remaining hamburger into his pocket.
"Yes! Only in Eldoria," Brandon said, taking a sip of oat beer.
"So, if I leave Eldoria, I won't be able to eat it anymore..." Riley was at a loss. How could he bear that?
"That's right. If you leave Eldoria, you'll have to settle for those hard bread rolls," Brandon said with a smirk. "I decided to settle in Eldoria, and a big reason is the unique cuisine here."
Riley was speechless, feeling a bit tempted.
"I heard that Lord Henry's restaurant - The Garden Eatery, is opening tomorrow, and the food inside is even better," Brandon said, licking his lips. He still remembered the delicious lunch he had at the Lord's Manor.
"The Garden Eatery?" Riley's eyes sparkled.
"Come with me tomorrow. I heard it's already chaotic outside, with people scrambling for invitations. One invitation is already being sold for fifteen silver coins, and the price is still rising, all for a chance to attend Lord Henry's banquet," Brandon said, patting the invitation in his hand. It was delivered by the Lord's Manor today, and it made him ecstatic.
"Alright!" Riley nodded.
"Let me tell you, if you have the chance to eat at the Lord's Manor, you will be amazed. Eating it, you will die without regrets," Brandon said with a shake of his head.
"Isn't that a bit exaggerated?" Riley's eyes twitched.
"There's a saying outside, 'All the world's delicacies are in the Lord's Manor,'" Brandon said, his eyes gleaming.
