Chapter 18 The Camp Rules in the Parallel World
Leo stared at the things in his arms stunningly. Shoes, hats, towels, wooden cups, and wooden bowls. If he were to buy these, it would cost at least a hundred copper coins.
"What are you standing there for? Moving away and don't block others from getting their things," David scolded with a laugh.
Leo nodded absentmindedly and moved away.
In reality, others were in a similar situation or even worse.
When twelve people had gathered around Leo, Charles led them to a house. "This will be your dorm from now on. Twelve people in one room. Follow me inside."
Charles's voice was cold as he entered the house and began assigning bunks.
Leo looked at the bunk beds in astonishment. They were much better than the bed at his home. He had thought they would be sleeping on the floor, at most, with some straw mats. He never expected to have actual beds.
"In the military camp, we have rules. Everything must be in order. If your things are not properly arranged, everyone in the same room will be punished," Charles sternly reminded.
Under Charles's guidance, they all listened attentively, learning how to fold towels and place shoes properly.
When Leo saw Charles neatly folding the sheets, he was dumbfounded. Would he have to fold his sheets like that every morning?
"You've seen how it's done. From now on, you all have to follow this standard when making your beds. Now, get started," Charles said before leaving to lead another group of people to their rooms.
Henry had brought the military training methods from Earth. He believed that everyone should experience what he had gone through.
By the time Leo and the others had figured out everything in their room, it was already 3 P.M.
A bell rang, followed by loud shouts. "Hurry up and come out! If you're late, you won't have dinner."
Leo and the others immediately left their rooms and saw Wyatt, David, Charles, and three others outside, shouting with sticks in their hands.
By now, they all knew that the camp had strict rules. Everyone quickly lined up downstairs, waiting for instructions.
After seeing this situation, Wyatt, impressed by Henry, thought to himself that it was Henry's idea to subtly change these people, making them obedient and disciplined.
"Next time you hear the bell, you have only thirty seconds to gather. If you're late, you'll be cleaning the toilets for a month," Wyatt shouted.
"Some of you might be wondering what a toilet is. See that building over there? From now on, you'll go there to relieve your poop and pee. If anyone dares to relieve yourself elsewhere, they'll have to swallow it."
Wyatt didn't know why Henry wanted to do this, but he would follow Henry's orders without question.
Henry would definitely curse when he learned Wyatt's idea. In this era, there were no toilets, and human waste was everywhere. Some girls had to find a secluded place to relieve themselves.
From Wyatt, Henry learned that even the capital city was like this. It reminded Henry of a country on Earth where people drank cow urine.
Leo wanted to say something, but he saw the warning look in David's eyes and remained silent. After all, they usually just found a corner to relieve themselves, at most digging a hole and burying it.
"Now, line up one by one and go get your hair cut over there, then go to the bathroom to take a shower and change into your training uniforms," Wyatt said, pointing to a group of people sitting on chairs not far away. They were brought in from the city to cut hair.
Whether they liked it or not, everyone obediently went to get their hair cut under the watch of David and the others.
Leo felt the coolness of his short hair and went to the bathroom with his training uniform, where several large buckets were stacked.
"What's in here? So many bubbles?" Leo asked curiously.
"Something that will make your body clean. Hurry up and get in," Zachary said.
Under Zachary's gaze, Leo entered the wooden tub without clothes.
The first thing Leo felt was the fragrance. Then his whole body felt slippery, especially when he rubbed his hands. A lot of black stuff came off, making his face turn red. He thought, 'I didn't realize my body was so dirty.'
"This is what Lord Henry uses to bathe. He cares about everyone, so he brought it for you to use. Remember Henry's kindness," Zachary said enthusiastically.
Leo nodded. He could feel the luxury of these bubbles. The fragrant substance was not something that just a commoner could afford.
After everyone had their hair cut and showered, they put on their training uniforms, which looked completely different.
"Tomorrow, you will officially start training. I don't want to see any of you being kicked out of the camp. If that happens, you will bring shame to your families," Wyatt shouted.
He no longer had any doubts about Henry's military training methods.
"Answer me loudly! Do you want to be kicked out?" Wyatt roared.
"No!" Some weak responses could be heard.
"Are you a group of weaklings? Even women can shout louder than you," Wyatt cursed.
"No!" They shouted in unison. This shout could even be heard by Henry in the castle.
