Chapter 83 Must Have Been Half-Asleep
Emily thought, 'Is this the last sanctuary for the orcs?'
Along the way, Emily couldn't stop thinking about Ellie's words, finding them rather amusing.
This little fox-like orc must have been deceived by the human nobles, completely taken in by their flattery.
Ellie had been observing Emily's reactions and seeing the disbelief in her eyes; she knew Emily was just like her in the past, not believing in Henry no matter what.
But only after getting to know Henry would one understand his greatness. He was a noble who could embrace orcs, perhaps the only one.
Silent all the way, Ellie helped Emily change into a robe, one that belonged to Henry. Only his clothes would fit Emily's petite frame.
Emily felt awkward, not because the clothes were bad or unattractive.
It was just that the clothes were too exquisite and luxurious. Wearing them, she exuded an otherworldly charm, like a girl from a noble family about to be married.
"It looks great; I'm envious." Ellie circled Emily, her finger on her chin, her eyes filled with envy and jealousy.
This new Bunny girl was so lucky to be able to wear the clothes Henry had worn. It was truly enviable.
"Can I really wear this? It's too precious." Emily kept muttering, occasionally touching the fabric. The soft material was so delightful to the touch.
Ellie replied, "Of course, it's precious. Someone offered 13 gold coins for such a garment."
Ellie mentioned a price that made Emily's eyes widen. Brandon, the obese man, had offered 13 gold coins without hesitation.
At that time, Ellie and the others were shocked. A piece of clothing for thirteen gold coins was beyond their imagination. After all, a silver coin could provide a peasant family with a good life for a year.
Despite that, Brandon didn't end up buying the robe. He left with regret, but before he left, he mentioned that if they were willing to sell, he could increase his offer by one or two gold coins.
The thought of a 13-gold-coin garment frightened Emily. She stood frozen, afraid of dirtying the clothes, her face turning red, feeling as if thousands of pounds of wheat were pressing down on her.
One gold coin could sustain all the orcs in their tribe for an entire year. And Emily had never even seen a gold coin, only the occasional silver coin.
Ellie looked at the motionless Emily and couldn't help but roll her eyes. She walked up and pulled her, saying, "Just be careful; the clothes aren't that fragile."
Emily was on the verge of tears. It wasn't a matter of fragility. The 13-gold-coin garment was worth more than a hundred times what she could earn as an enslaved person.
Ellie dragged Emily to the castle gate and asked the guard, "Has Henry left already?"
"Yes, he has. He went to the market with Miss Mila." the guard respectfully replied, even giving Emily a bow.
"What's going on here?"
Emily was a bit flustered. Since when did humans bow to her? Could it be because of these clothes?
Ellie knew about Henry's plans. After finishing breakfast, she was also going to go over there. If it weren't for this Bunny girl, she would have left together in the morning.
"Let's go! We'll have breakfast outside. I heard Henry has opened a new hamburger shop. Let's go and taste it." Ellie said, pulling Emily out of the castle.
"Are you sure, Ellie? Is it safe to go out like this? What if humans capture us and sell us as enslaved people?" Emily hurriedly exclaimed.
"See for yourself!" Ellie stopped in her tracks and pointed at the bustling crowd, "This is Eldoria. No one dares to capture us."
In fact, Henry had long established the rules of the city, which were the rules enforced in his territory. Every noble had the power to do so in their territory.
That is, the prohibition of buying and selling enslaved people; that is, no one can capture orcs or humans to be enslaved people in Eldoria. Enslaved people bought from outside the territory don't count. Otherwise, if caught, they would be sent to mine coal and iron, and they wouldn't be released until they had mined for a dozen or twenty years, with the more severe cases going straight to the gallows.
Eldoria is now Henry's one-person territory. Who would dare to take the risk of being hanged to catch orcs, not to mention the simple-minded commoners of Eldoria?
"Miss Ellie, are you going to buy lollipops again?"
"Definitely, Miss Ellie's favorite is lollipops, and she buys them every time there's a new flavor."
"My little one at home even stole two steel coins from his dad last time and got a good beating from my husband."
"He deserved it. You have to discipline your child severely from a young age. Stealing will become a habit."
Several passing women greeted them kindly.
Ellie's face turned slightly red. She did buy lollipops every time, and Henry didn't restrict her much on this slightly sweet treat.
Emily's mouth was agape. When did humans become so friendly, even greeting orcs and chatting and laughing? This completely subverted her worldview.
"Am I still dreaming? Did I not wake up?" Emily muttered to herself and then pinched her rabbit ears with her hand.
"That hurts!"
She pinched too hard, and the pain made her shiver, causing Ellie, who was beside her, to roll her eyes. This Bunny girl was really silly.
Ellie said, "Hurry, the hamburger shop seems to be on the commercial street!"
Ellie pulled Emily and started to run, responding with a smile to the greetings of the passersby along the way.
Throughout the journey, Emily remained in a daze, still not realizing why the humans here weren't brandishing sticks and chasing after them.
Emily thought, 'Should I pinch myself again? Am I still dreaming?'
Ellie said, "You are silly, Bunny; why did you pinch me?"
Emily replied, "I, I'm afraid of pain!"
Ellie retorted, "Am I not afraid of pain? Take this! I'll teach you a lesson... Don't run!"
Emily said, "No, you can't do that."
